Crop Advisories and Plant Protection

Advised to complete harvesting of wheat on clear days and store the grains at appropriate (12 % )

moisture

Sowing of green manure crop is advised where harvesting of rabi crop is over. For green manuring

cluster bean, daincha, senai, lobia etc may be sown.

In high hilly regions sowing of peas, turnip, carrot palak etc advised.

Advised to sowing of fodder maize alongwith cowpeas and soybean in irrigated areas.

In mid hill areas, advised transplanting of tomato brinjal, chilli and capsicum.

Advised to transplant summer flowers. Complete pinching and stalking in carnation. Advised for

transplanting of marigold seedling in fields for summer crop.

It is optimum time to resume picking in tea at 8 days interval to maintain the quality and productivity.

Maintain room tempearture18-22oC and relative humidity around 85% for successful mushroom

cultivation.

Artificial feed of 50% sugar and 50% water solution should be given to honey bees. Also insert empty

frame /combs for egg laying to the queen as the population starts builds up.

Fisheries:

After adding stock maintain after level of five feet. Add supplementary feed (rice/wheat bran &

mustard oil cake and rice/wheat bran) @ 2-3% of total fish biomass on daily basis

Plant protection measures

Rainfall is expected in the region therefore, farmers are advised to watch for rain before applying

pesticides.

Place bee boxes in the orchard for proper pollination.

Spray horticultural mineral oils @ 4l/200L of water against attack of San Jose scale in apple.

On Mango plant hopper may attack for control spray, BUPROFEZIN 25% SC 1-2 ml per litres of water Or

DELTAMETHRIN 2.8% EC 0.03 to 05% solution. In mango give the application of wettable sulphur

against powdery mildew.

Pomegranate fruit is in flowering stage and anar butter fly is the major problem in this weather for

control spray cypermethrin 10 EC @ 1 ml per litre of water at 15 days interval.

In litchi fruit borer is appearing for control spray cypermethrin 10 EC @ 1 ml per litre of water at 15

days interval. Apply carbendazim/hexaconazole @100ml/200l of water to control the leaf spot disease

in strawberry.

Apply second dose of nitrogen in tomato, okra, capsicum and vegetables of cucurbitaceous family.

In seed crop remove the diseased part (leaf/fruit). Spray Bavistin-50 (50g/100 l water) or Dithane M-45

(250 g/100 l water) till the seed production stage.

Spray magister or fenazaquin @30ml/15L against attack of mites in vegetables.

For late blight appears, for control spray Dithane M-45 0.2% at 7 days interval. For Control of Potato

tuber moth cypermethrin 25 EC @ 1 ml/litres of water with sticker or spray methyl demeton 25 EC @

0.03%.

Spray 750 ml cypermethrin or metasyatox in 750 litre water/ha for the control of aphids in oil crops.

In cucurbitaceous crops, if attack of red pumpkin beetle is found than, spraying of Diclorvos 76 EC

(DDVP) @ 1 ml /litre of water is advised.

The downy mildew is expected in cruciferous vegetables, for control spray redomil M-Z @ 25 g per

litres of water at 15 days interval.

In case of attack of aphids on mustard, spray dimethoate 30 E.C. or cypermethrin 10 E.C. @ 1 ml/lit.).

Spray malathion 50 E.C. (@ 1 ml/itre) for the control of aphids & leaf eating caterpillars in cauliflower,

cabbage etc.

The flowers affected with aphids, spray malathion @ 0.05% for the control. Red scales is appearing in

roses for control put carbofuran @ 1 teaspoon per plant,

Livestock:

Ensure cleanliness in cows having advanced pregnancy to avoid mastitis. Get the animals vaccinated

against Foot and Mouth disease.

Poultry:

Make sure to deworm your older flocks every month against round-worms. Reduce feeding and

increase the protein content in feed.
