Design is creative but an employer will want to know that you can meet the brief and understand deadlines–the practicalities of the business.

AlbertoCreativity can come from any aspect of life.

I have created work for both myself and clients. I have been involved in large projects that have taught me how to meet deadlines and communicate effectively, as well as small pieces of work that over time have increased my knowledge and understanding of design and the software within the industry.

I believe that expressing creativity whilst following briefs and reaching clients expectations is the key to a successful design. Adhering to the guidelines set by the client is just as important as being creative.

There are no blueprints to creativity. I design based on what I see and the inspiration I absorb.

Design is creative but an employer will want to know that you can meet the brief and understand deadlines–the practicalities of the business.

I have developed my own method to get the job done. Keeping it simple is my way to a great piece of design. I have been able to produce work that grabs thedesired attention.

In 2015, the Adelaide College of Arts hosted the “Meraki Graduate

Fashion Parade”. Amongst thirty three other design entries, my

design won first place and I was selected to create the Meraki

promotional poster, a fifty two page magazine and ceremony

tickets. Beginning on paper, the concept behind this project was to

create branding for the graduates’ garments and their event.

I focused on a design that would showcase their work in a polished

and elegant manner I used strong imagery and typography that

complimented each other to balance both the students’ profiles and

their garments. I focused not only on “hero shots” but created close

ups of the garments to show detailed textures. The design for the

magazine then became the blueprint for the event tickets and the

Meraki promotional posters.

Time management was crucial throughout the process. I had to

create my own deadlines and day to day schedules to ensure all

aspects of the brief were completed on time, while also allowing

the time for proofing, approvals and printing. Communication,

constructive criticism and implementation of feedback from

designers, students and event managers were paramount to the

success of this design.

Bachelor of Creative Arts Launch

Promotional Poster

Produced for the “Bachelor of Creative Arts Launch”, hosted in the

city of Adelaide, this event showcased a range of performing arts

including fashion, visual arts and dance.

When creating the event’s promotional poster, the concept direction

was to produce a design that was heavily focused on the correct use

of typography and imagery. Due to the large amount of information

given it was important to the client that neither imagery nor type

would be overlooked within the design.

Using Adobe InDesign and Photoshop, balancing each aspect of the

project was crucial. Manipulating and separating images to create

further character was an objective from the beginning. I focused on

bright colours, logo placement and soft typography.

Nike Air Jordan 1 Vector Art

Completed 2015

“Nike Air Jordan 1”, completed as a student. I created this piece

to demonstrate my personal skillset within Adobe Illustrator.

The illustration went on to receive a high distinction and over time

has remained a personal favorite.

The process for this project was to begin with pencil and paper.

My aim was to create a realistic finish by focusing on textures,

shadows and colours. Using software tools such as layer

manipulation and transparency effects, I was able to create a leather

texture. I used shadows and correct colour use to increase texture

and maintain the design’s realistic appeal. The final outcome was

a success.

A touch into Photography, this piece of work was created as a

personal project to portray my skillset within photography and

hand written typography. I took this photograph in Disney Land,

Anaheim during its fireworks parade. Having the image acting as

the main focus of the design it was important that great excitement

was portrayed in the image.

Using Photoshop to enhance the colours of the image, it was

important that the design would stand out but not appear to be

manipulated. Due to the image being natural, this meant that I had

to use typography that would follow the same style.

I created type on paper and imported it into Illustrator to help

capture the essence of the beauty of the location. With its

handwritten type the design is kept natural yet exciting.

A Man Of HonorBook Cover,Packaging

“A Man Of Honor, The Autobiography Of Joseph Bonanno” was creat-

ed to showcase my ability of creative artwork, design and hand-made

packaging. Given to me as an education brief, my work was awarded

high remarks followed by a distinction.

When I began designing the novels exterior and its packaging,

I focused on understanding the books genre- America’s criminal

underworld during 1945. I absorbed the artwork, design and lifestyle

from the era, and through research of both the novel and its genre,

the creative style of the design was born.

To ensure that all the aspects of the novel remained authentic, each

element was created by hand. This included hand-made packaging,

painted artwork and manual typesetting. Once all the elements were

created, finer tuning came from using Adobe’s Creative Suite. By

doing this, particular textures were increased and further typography

was added. Once all elements were placed together the final out-

come was a success and a self-rewarding piece of design.

Marlon Brando Vector Art

“Marlon Brando” completed as a personal project to experiment,

challenge and increase my skill set within Adobe Illustrator,

typography and artistry.

An illustration piece dedicated to the late actor Marlon Brando

and his cult classic The Wild One. This was a passion project and

a rewarding challenge. Beginning as a simple sketch imported

into Adobe Illustrator, I created an over-all style and the artwork

progressed with time. The overall objective was to develop line work

and shadows to create an image that would be striking to the viewer.

Along with creating illustration, typography was included to

increase the project’s character. Something that began as a simple

title concluded as another aspect within the artwork. Forming

the title to act as a window into the design was brought about by

experimentation along with positioning and colour. Through the

time spent creating this piece of work, Marlon Brando has become

a personal favourite and a self-rewarding piece of design.

Arolder Lawyers & Adviser

Branding Identity

“Arolder, Lawyers and Advisers” was completed as a personal project

to experiment with company branding and identity.

I began with constructing the companies identity on typography,

having a classic typeface is what I aimed for, I chose Times New

Roman due to its reputation of being an historically used typeface

its extremely readable. It brings forth a level of sophistication to the

company which was the over all goal. Keeping the identity clean and

classic was the route of its design, during the development of this

project I began to look at negative shapes within typography which

lead to the companies logo.

Using the Times New Romans Typeface I captured the negative

space within its letter “A” using the shapes which ultimately created

a triangle figure. I focused on its presence, having a triangle figure

resembling strength and stability was the key to projecting the

companies character. Using welcoming colours such as blues and

light grays I felt that it was the correct choice as the company would

stand for helping others, equality and fairness. The personality that

the company carries can be seen through its identity. The chosen

typeface resembles timelessness and its identity acts as a symbol of

strength and welcomeness.
