HOSPITAL VISITATION New privacy rules are in place which makes it more challenging for the pastors to know if you are in the hospital. If you would like to receive a pastoral call during hospitalizations it is important that you be sure to register as a Presbyterian when you are admitted or have a family member call the church to let us know. The pastors want to be available, but are not aware unless these steps are taken. Thank you. TASK FORCE ON STAFFING The Task Force on Church Staffing continues to meet. The focus has changed somewhat with Maren's change of plans and the congregation's vote to enable her to stay as Associate Pastor. The task force is now addressing the recommendation of the Youth Renovation Team to the Session regarding staffing for youth ministry. The plan is to provide a report to Session by the end of summer. Children in Worship

We welcome children learning to worship alongside their adult family members and with their church family. Worship bags are available in the hallway outside the sanctuary for use by children, as well as the Children’s Own Worship Library bookshelf for children to borrow a book to aid them in worshipping. This summer, we also offer child care during the worship services for infants and toddlers up to age 2 in room 108-109, and today there is a summer Sunday School program for children ages 3 through current 1st graders.

NEWS FROM ETHIOPIA Since 2010, our congregation has helped pay the tuition at the Mekane Yesus Seminary in Addis Ababa for a member of the Mettu congregation named Berhanu. Our partners in Mettu selected Berhanu to be educated, trained, and ordained, and with God's direction, become the next pastor at Mettu, when the current pas-tor, Kes Demmi retires. We are very pleased to report that Berhanu has completed his seminary program and graduat-ed on June 28, 2014. Stay tuned for more updates, as we hope to find a way to acknowledge his accomplishment and new ways to support our partners in Ethiopia. Please keep Berhanu, his family, Kes Demmi, and the elders and mem-bers of the Mettu congregation in your prayers. GUARDIAN ANGELS is a group who provide meals to those church members in need due to things such as a medi-cal issue, a death in the family or the birth of a baby. We are looking for more volunteers. THE GUIDE TO RESTORATION OF RIGHTS, produced by Advancement Project, is available in the church library. The guide is an outline of all that is necessary for ex-offenders to apply for and restore their rights, namely the right to vote, to serve on a jury, to hold an office and to serve as a notary public. THE SYCAMORE CLASS plans to study C. S. Lewis next year. We have selected seven of his many books. The seven books we have selected are in a single volume “The Complete C. S. Lewis Signature Classics” which is about $20 on Amazon. All the individual books are available in the church library and are on a separate labeled shelf. You may wish to read some of them over the summer. We will begin with “Mere Christianity.”

GUATEMALAN WOMEN’S VISIT Mission Council and the Guatemala Team invite you to support the visit of our Guatemalan friends who will be in the US Oct. 4- Oct. 20 and in Winchester Oct. 10 – 15. Here is how you can support the visit. 1. Contribute to the women’s travel costs of approximately $1000 per women. We are responsible for two women’s costs. 2. Travel to Louisville in the church van to participate with the women’s activities there. Estimate for personal expences - $300-$400. 3. Volunteer to host one or two of the women overnight for their 5 days in Winchester or to host a meal for the group (up to 10 people). 4. Volunteer to translate if you are a Spanish speaker. 5. WEDNESDAY WOMEN’S BIBLE STUDY will meet on Wednesday September 3rd at 9:15 in the Graham room to distribute books. We will begin our book study on the 10th. We meet most Wednesdays from 9:15-10:30am. The study explores a particular faith-themed book selected by members of the group, and women of all ages are invited. Summer Children’s Sunday School - CHANGE!! Today there will be Summer Sunday School during the worship service beginning at 10 and ending at 11 in the Stine Room. Just for today, summer Sunday School will be for

children age 3-current first graders, so older children can participate in the single worship service with their families. Nursery will also be offered for children 0-2 in room 106 during the service.
