    The UK Restaurant Manager of the Year competition,now in its second year, is a nationwide search to nd,acknowledge and reward the best Restaurant Managers inthe UK. Go to www.acfws.org or more inormation.

    The competition aims to be inclusive and we are looking oranyone ullling the role o a restaurant manager to enter.Your job title does not have to be Restaurant Manager butyou should be undertaking the majority o the typical workactivities associated with the role, including responsibilityor the business perormance and coordinating the entireoperation o the restaurant. A ull list o the required knowl-edge can be ound in the terms and conditions or on the AFWwebsite (www.acws.org).

    The nal o the competition will take place on May 17th 2010

    at the Roo Gardens in Kensington. A unique space unlikeany other in London. The winner o the competition will bepresented with their award at the dinner, ollowing the nal, inront o a highly infuential and inspirational audience.

    How to enter:Those individuals ullling the role o a RestaurantManager are invited to enter the competition by submittingthe ollowing by January 29th 2010:

    How does the competition work?Following the submission o the entry orm, membershiporm and completed questions; the judges, comprised orepresentatives rom the Academy o Food & Wine, sponsors,and industry experts, will select the best entrants rom acrossthe ollowing regions:

    The SouthLondonThe Midlands & WalesThe NorthScotland & Northern Ireland

    Successul regional nalists will be invited to attend thesemi nals at the Roo Gardens, in London, on March 8th2010. Here, they will be interviewed by dierent experts ontheir knowledge o several subjects (see T & Cs or requiredknowledge).

    Five nalists will be selected ater this stage.

    These ve will be invited to compete in the Finals, to be heldat the Roo Gardens, in London, on May 17th 2010.

    Final:There are two stages to the nal.Stage 1: The nalists will be sent a paper outlining a particularscenario. They will have 14 days to amiliarise themselves with

    the scenario and prepare an oral presentation.Stage 2: The nalists will attend the closed door nal on May17th 2010, where they will give a 5 minute oral presentationto the judges. Following this, the panel o judges will ask thecandidates a number o questions, based on the scenario andtheir presentation.

    Prizes:The Academy o Food & Wine, UK Restaurant Manager othe Year 2010 will receive: A trophy, certicate and a superb,week-long trip to New York.

    Staying in the luxurious, penthouse, Empire Suite at theMAve Hotel, a Modern Boutique Hotel in Manhattan, thewinner will undertake a stage at Eleven Madison Park,one o Danny Meyers top New York restaurants.

    The nominating Restaurant will also be entitled to use

    an OpenTable system or 12 months. This includes reeinstallation, on-site training, 24 hour technical support andaccess to the OpenTable online diner network through theirown website, www.opentable.co.uk

    The prizes will be presented at the dinner, ollowing the nal,in ront o a highly infuential and inspirational audience.
