Holiday Gala
An Affair to Remember Special Guests
Peter Liu and The Pollcats
December 2, 2018
Sala San Marco Event and Conference Centre
On behalf of Canadian Showtime Chorus,
welcome to our Holiday Gala
and thank you for making this evening a success.
We are thrilled to introduce our new
internationally acclaimed Director, Joe Connelly.
It has been a great pleasure to work
with our team of dedicated and professional women that have
so much experience and talent. This was a labour of love for
our members and volunteers who poured their time, energy
and enthusiasm into creating this special event.
A special thank you to Pierre Lemieux for honouring us as
our Master of Ceremonies.
Tonight, enjoy ‘An Affair to Remember’, with some of the
music of a bygone era and familiar melodies of
the Holiday Season

Our Director Joe Connelly is an experienced director in both Sweet Adelines International
(SAI) and Barbershop Harmony Society (BHS). He directed Toast of Tampa
Chorus (SAI) for 6 years, winning three Regional Contests, and ranking 4th
and 5th on the International stage.
He later directed the Southern Gateway Chorus (BHS) for 5 years, winning
the District Championship three times and placing in the top 10 at
International. Joe became a Master Director 600 in 2002.
Joe travels worldwide as a professional chorus and quartet vocal
performance coach and is a BHS competition judge. As a lead singer in
many quartets, Joe earned four BHS International gold medals (Interstate
Rivals, Keepsake, Platinum and Old School) and continues to perform.
Joe brings positivity, passion, experience, knowledge and contagious
energy to Canadian Showtime Chorus. As a sought-after coach, he has
helped good choruses become great ones; achieving not only top 10 status
at the International level but also earning the
ultimate title of World Champion!
Joe has been affiliated with SAI for 35 years. He has been a member of the
Canadian Showtime Chorus coaching team since 2012 and accepted the
position of musical director in May, 2018.
Our Chorus Canadian Showtime Chorus is a competitive women’s singing group,
specializing in 4-part a cappella singing in the barbershop style. Our modern
art form has been referred to as “the blackbelt of a cappella singing”, by the
producer of the Pitch Perfect Trilogy, and a cappella guru Deke Sharon.
The Chorus was formed in 1982, “to pursue musical excellence in the art of
barbershop of four-part harmony singing” and to share the joy of music
genre through public performances. A charter member of Sweet Adelines
International (SAI), Canadian Showtime Chorus ranks in the top 16 of more
than 500 choruses world wide and is the current 2018
Lake Ontario Region 16 Chorus Champions.
As champions, our chorus will represent the region at the International
competition in New Orleans in September 2019. In preparation, Director
Joe Connelly, along with his accomplished in-house Music and Visual
Teams, design each weekly rehearsal to both teach and inspire individuals
to higher levels of personal excellence in singing and performance. Our
rehearsals are augmented by periodic sessions with internationally
recognized coaches. This combination of training and coaching helps the
Chorus achieve progressively higher skills and levels with each competition
and public performance. The journey to the international stage is exciting
and we intend to put an epic performance on stage that will make our region,
our community and our city proud !
Donations We gratefully acknowledge and extend special thanks to the many individuals
and corporate citizens whose generous contributions to the Auction and
Raffle prizes have made this Gala an overwhelming success.
