An Identity that brings victory over sin.

What is your identity?

If you are a child of King Jesus, you have a certain identity which gives you a

lot of characteristics.

In verses 5-10 we are assured of our victory over death when our time comes to leave

this world.

Do you believe that?

verse 11. “In the same way you are dead to sin while

you live on earth.”

You cannot be controlled by ANY sin unless you

choose to allow it.

Verses 12-14. “So then, don't let sin rule your body, so that you do what it wants. Don't offer parts of your

body to sin, to be used as weapons to do

wrong. Instead, present yourselves to God as

people who have been

brought back to life from the dead, and offer all

the parts of your body to God to be used as

weapons to do right.

Sin will have no power over you, because you

aren't under law but under grace.”

2 Cor. 5:17 “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old

has passed away; behold, the new has

come.”

This doesn’t mean that your sinful desires went away. It means that the person who was a SLAVE to sin died.

Let’s take off our masks today. Some of you

believers here today feel there is no way you can

overcome certain temptations in your life.

1) If you present yourself to sin’s leadership, then this

is what will happen:

1) Sin makes you its slave. (16-19)

2) Sin makes you ashamed. (20-21)

3) Sin spreads death throughout your whole

life. (22-23)

But it doesn’t have to be this way now that the

Spirit of God is in you.

Do you want to change?

If so, here is the truth from God’s Word for you

today:

Galatians 5:16 “I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you will not

fulfill the lust of the flesh.”

1) Begin to ask the Spirit daily to take over the control of your life.

2) On a daily basis study the Bible.

3) Seek Jesus Daily.

4) When temptation comes your way run to the Spirit

and ask for His help.

As long as we are in this world we can expect a

struggle between our flesh and our spirit, but if we

allow ourselves to walk in the Spirit it will result in a

life of victory over sin.
