Did You Know? That most of us don’t get enough nutrients from our diets? We need to limit the consumption of saturated and trans fats commonly found in foods like burgers, french fries, and other oily foods. To keep our bodies working at their optimum levels, we need to eat well-balanced diets that consist of foods from the five food groups: grains, vegetables, fruits, meats and beans, and dairy.

Grains Need 5-6 ounces a day What counts as 1 ounce?

1 slice of bread 1 cup cold cereal cup cooked rice or pasta½

Vegetables Need 2-2 cups of vegetables a day½

Fruits Need 1 cups of fruit a day½

Meats and Beans Need 5 ounces a day What counts as 1 ounce:

1 ounce meat cup cooked beans¼ 1 egg

Dairy Products Need 3 cups a day What counts as 1 cup?

1 cup of milk 1 cup of yogurt 1/3 cup shredded cheese
