DINING ROOM THE

All your senses are stirredin Macao’s Main Dining Room. Industrial warehouse, opulent, romantic and ribald, the room evokes history and myth, legend and legacy. And the mood and the menu are of a piece. Indulge your inner gourmand with a selection of small and large plates that are as playfully carnal as they are sublime. The menu is crafted with Family Style dining in mind. At Macao, we encourage you to play well with others.

Intoxicology. Dr. Funk, Bashful Maiden, Drunken Dragon’s Milk, to name a few. These handcrafted elixirs are infused with house-made syrups and dashes and drizzles of bitters and nectars and secrets and stories. And they’re lauded. At the 2011 Tales of the Cocktail conference, the essential gathering for the industry’s finest bartenders the world over, the bar teams at Macao and its legend-ary uptown patriarch, Employees Only, were honored with the award for the World’s Best Drink Selection. Time Out New York named the bar at Macao the city’s Best Cocktail Crossroads of 2010. At Macao, intoxicology is art and performance, and the sumptuous sur-roundings are the pitch-perfect stage.

LOUNGE DOWNSTAIRS Unabashedly decadent, the Lounge Downstairs is a sensualists’ palaceon an intimate scale. Descend the stairs, take a beat to take in the titillating curios ondisplay, turn the corner and be transported. Even as the bar bustles, the tables for twoencourage amity and the back-booths afford privacy. It’s that hush-hush opium den feel,where absinthe replaces opium (see Dr. Funk on the Specialty Cocktail Menu), but nothingis clost in the mood-altering translation, save the toxicity.
