It gives us great pleasure to announce that our Honorable Chief Minister Sri Nara
Chandra Babu Naidu garu has visited Anantapuramu for celebration of 70th
Independence day on 15th August 2016. His presence has made the occasion even more
significant.
In connection to the Independence day arrangements, renovation of the city has
been carried out in a large scale. It included divider plantation and painting, widening of
roads, lighting up the city and other beautification works. National flag measuring
thousands of feet have become a part of the Independence day celebration. The
procession organized by AMC had a nearly 2700 feet long national flag. Deputy CM KE
Krishna Murthy Garu has started the largest Indian flag with thousands of students,
NGOs and various sections of people taking part in the procession shouting the slogans.
I take this opportunity to thank all the officers and staff (both Indoor and outdoor)
of Anantapur Municipal Corporation, who has involved in the 70th Independence Day
celebrations and made CM visit a grand success.
Coming to current major activity i.e. Smart pulse survey, it is being carried out
effectively in the ULB. In order to guarantee the smooth progress of the survey, a total of
170 students from ITI college are attached to the enumerators so as to get them through
the technical issues and efficiently monitor the process.
Municipality is also carrying out various awareness programs on seasonal diseases
with respect to arrival of monsoon. We are also happy to announce that works on
construction of community toilets are carrying out efficiently in the ULB

Independence day has been celebrated in a grand manner at PTC grounds in Anantapur Municipal
Corporation. The celebration commenced with the hoisting of the National flag by Shri N.Chandra
Babu Naidu Garu, Honorable Chief Minister, Andhra Pradesh. In his Independence Day message,
the Chief Minister recalled the struggles and sufferings of the Forefathers and Patriots who had
contributed to attain freedom for the Nation and requested all to contribute their mite to take the
state to achieve economic development.
2800 ft National flag has taken out in procession to mark the 70th
Independence day celebrations.
Deputy CM KE Krishna Murthy Garu graced the event as chief guest. Thousands of students from
various schools and colleges accompanied by other NGOs and various sections of people has
participated in the procession shouting the slogans. The event has made its way to Limca Book of
records as the procession carrying largest National flag.

Actions for Cleaning of City
Stepping towards complete cleaning of the
city, Hon’ble Mayor M.Swaroopa has
visited all the formal and informal
commercial activities along National
Highway and other major roads in the
ULB and has advised not to throw their
wastage into the surrounding open drains.
Accompanied by sanitary supervisor
Gangi Reddy and other concerned
workers, the team has instructed the public
and shopkeepers to utilize the dustbins
arranged by AMC.
Awareness Program on Seasonal Diseases
Awareness program on preventing stomach
worms and seasonal diseases has been
conducted by Mayor in the presence of District
Medical Health officer. Private and
government Nursing college students has
participated in the programme. Free Medicine
distribution has been carried as a part of the
event.
Training for ITI students on Smart Pulse Survey
ITI students have been attached to the
existing enumerators of SPS to assist
them technically and to monitor the
smooth running of the process. To
ensure this, orientation program has
been held at Municipal Council hall to a
total of 170 ITI students in three stages

Summer Storage Tank Renovation
Keeping in view the demand for water in
summer, works for renovation of summer
storage tank has been started. Five motors of 60
HP capacity were repaired to pump water from
Tungabhadra high level canal into the storage
tank.
Clearance of Jungle for Waste Treatment Plant
4 acres of land at Pandameru has been
cleared for establishing waste to energy
plant. The land will be handed over for
25 years on lease basis to Essel Infra
projects limited. 4MW of electricity for
every 300T of waste is estimated to be
generated through this plant.
Works under SC Sub Plan
Works under SC sub plan has started in
the ULB for a total outlay of 72 lakhs. It
included road widening and divider
construction in four areas within
corporation i.e., Nayak nagar,
Krupanagar, Jesus nagar and Missamma
colony

Construction of Animal Birth Control Theatre
Construction of Animal Birth Control
theatre with an outlay of Rs. 30,00,000 has
been started at Pandameru. Municipal Mayor
M.Swaroopa and commissioner C. Obulesu
has inspected the construction works on
August 29 and has instructed the workers to
maintain quality standards and complete the
work within 15 days.
Clearance of Water logging
Kick off Workshop on Swachh Survekshan
For the launch of Swachh Survekshan
2017, a nationwide kick off workshop
has been held on 6th August 2016. For
Anantapur region, the programme has
been arranged at council hall of the
corporation. Municipal Commissioners
from eleven municipalities within
Anantapur district has attended the
workshop.
Municipal Commissioner and Mayor has
visited the major roads in the ULB and has
instructed the concerned engineer staff to
take precautionary measures to prevent
accumulation of water on roads during rains.
Water logged on roads at RDO office and
collectorate office has made clear using JCB
and diverted water in to the nearby drains

Meeting has been held on August 8 with
engineering and public health officers, in presence
of Mayor, to speed up the process of
developmental activities with respect to
Independence day. Instructions were given to
staff regarding quality of work to be maintained
for highways, divider plantation and other
beautification works in the ULB.
Review meeting on Building penalization
scheme and APDPMS conducted by Regional
Deputy Director of Town and Country Planning,
Anantapur.
Review meeting was held on August 17 with all
the work Inspectors and Executive Engineer to
assess the progress of IHHL, HFA and DOT
data collection
Meeting was held on August 17 to review the
progress of smart pulse survey. All the monitors
of the survey were instructed to carry out the
survey efficiently and speed up the process

Third Party Quality Assurance team Inspection
Training Program for the APMDP team
Team from Aarvee, the consultancy for third party quality assurance to APMDP scheme has
visited Anantapur and inspected the works in the ULB under the scheme. Currently the works are
running smooth and the team has been instructed to carry speedup the works under the project
