The following are some of the “gifts,” or legacies, that Ancient Greece gave to the world along with important people or events that you can choose for your project. Important people & Events Legacies Persian Wars Peloponnesian War the Parthenon Alexander the Great Pericles Socrates Plato Pythagoras Archimedes the agora trireme (Greek navy ship) Democracy Trial By Jury Greek Myths and Legends Theatre Olympics Philosophy Architecture Geometry Scientific Method Directions: 1. Choose four items from the list above. Research what each legacy, person or event was like in Ancient Greece: You must find the “required information” for each legacy For “additional information,” you should find quality, well-elaborated facts that describe what the legacy, person, or event was like in ancient Greece. 2. In paragraph form, write a description of each legacy, person or event. Your description should include: Clear topic sentences to organize your writing. Well-elaborated, quality details that give the reader a full understanding of what the legacy was like in ancient Greece. Correct spelling and grammar ** You will need to hand in your research notes along with your final project ** 3. Wrap your box neatly in some way- wrapping paper or plain colored paper works well. 4. Label each side of your box with a different legacy, person or event and glue your paragraph describing it underneath the label. 5. Put a picture of each legacy, person or event on the top of your box. These may be drawn or printed from the internet. 6. Find one item that represents each legacy, person or event TODAY and place it in your shoebox. These items are to show that the legacies from ancient Greece are still being used today. You should have 4 items in your shoebox- one for each legacy, person or event.

7. On the inside of your shoebox (under the cover or on the inside bottom of the box) write a paragraph that explains: • what each object is and which legacy it represents. • why the objects show that the legacies from ancient Greece are still in use today. 8. Make sure your box is neat and creatively decorated. All paper should be taped or glued down and not loose or hanging off the box. This includes the paragraph about the items inside your box! 9. Put your research notes inside your shoebox. 10. WRITE YOUR NAME ON THE BOTTOM OF YOUR SHOEBOX!
