Others believe that they lack the mental andmoral capacity to be granted even the mostbasic rights.

More than 25 million vertebrate animals areused in testing in the United States each year:

Monkeys

Chimpanzees

Beagles and other dogs

Cats

Rabbits

Mice

Birds

Farm Animals

still other sentient beings

As of 2002, more than 50 drugs tested onanimals were approved by the FDA but werepulled off the shelves due to killing andhurting humans but not animals.

Every year, 6 to 8 million dogs and catsenter shelters and 3 to 4 million shelter dogsand cats are killed.

These statistics continue on and get worse.

Animals are underfed and many die everyminute.

Many animals are put into shelters because

they are abused and left to die alone.Animals are left chained to a post or a fence

and die from hunger.

What can people do in the future?

People can stop abuse and cruel actionstoward animals by standing up for animals.

More activist groups can be started and they

would make a bigger impact.Activists could submit another bill to the

Senate or House for consideration.

California is making a move toward a registry

for Animal Abusers so they cannot get anymore animals for pets and abuse thembecause they dont have rights to someextent and to some people.
