Stichting Promotie Japanse Popcultuur AnimeCon Marketing Brochure 2019 - 1 AnimeCon Marketing Brochure 2019 AnimeCon: The Anime, Cosplay and Game festival AnimeCon is a 56-hour non-stop (J-)pop-culture festival. Our doors open on Friday afternoon and stay open until Sunday evening. Our board of directors, staff and gophers are entirely made up of volunteers. This ensures we organise a festival by fans for fans. Up until 2016, we had no employees, but in 2017 we had to hire one of our volunteers due to the increasing workload. The festival offers an abundant, non-stop choice of entertainment. Visitors can enjoy the continuous video program in high definition at the video rooms, play a diverse selection of video games, see performances by top-charting, popular Japanese artists, enter competitions and visit one of the numerous workouts, workshops or lectures covering many aspects of the Japanese culture. Very popular are our large sales space, the Asian catering food courts, the specialized food or drink tastings and karaoke. A large amount of our visitors likes to cosplay, which creates a unique and fun atmosphere. Since 2015, AnimeCon organises the Clara Cow’s Cosplay Cup. Pairs of cosplayers from seventeen countries perform an exciting act in marvelous costumes on stage. The prize is an all-expenses-covered trip to Japan. The C4 strives to be a competition where cosplayers can relax and have a great time, thus reducing the stress of competing. All over the festival you can find different stands offering a wide range of goods like comics, Blu-rays, clothes, DVDs, figures, food, games and information. Since 2015, Japanese caterers have stands in the two food courts, so our visitors can discover that there is more to Japanese food than just sushi and more to Japanese drinks than just sake. As mentioned earlier, AnimeCon entertains its visitors with an abundance of events. There is never a dull moment: in 2018 there were over 200 events varying from Japanese concerts, cosplay competitions, lectures, exhibitions to workshops. Whether visitors want to improve on their costume making, manga drawing or cooking skills, learn about the history of manga and Japan, dance to the music or sing at karaoke, they can do it all at AnimeCon 2019.
