FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Greetings everyone.

I hope this newsletter finds you well and you have been enjoying the warm sun and the rain to keep the gardens

growing.

Reports and Class Placements for 2019

Our staff at Antonio are currently finalising written reports and class placements for 2019. Both of these tasks are

completed professionally with great care and judgement by staff utilising their expertise and knowledge of your

child’s development as a learner. Both reports and class placements will be sent home to parents and carers on

Monday 10th December.

Service and Leadership

It was an absolute pleasure to be present for the community breakfast and Mini-Vinnies Assembly last Friday. The

example of service to our community and to those in need beyond it provided by staff and students was

exceptional. It is no wonder that so many students from Antonio go on to be leaders at Cardijn College, in their

work places or other areas of the community. I believe our children at Antonio are very capable members of our

community who can contribute constructively to our community and beyond.

School Fees 2019

This evening the School Board will meet to approve the school fees for 2019. We will inform you about the

outcome in the days to follow.

Curtin University School Climate Survey Results Summary

We have begun the process of reflecting on the results of the survey of parents, students and staff at Antonio I

can provide a summary of this for you. In this newsletter, I will share a summary of the student survey. We will

look at these results in greater detail as a staff and with the School Board to inform our strategic planning for

2019 and beyond.

What are the celebrations from the data?

Students overwhelmingly feel safe, welcomed, listened to and supported

Students feel connected strongly to their peers

Students feel they can approach staff if they have a challenge

Students recognise that teachers have high expectations for their learning and appreciate this

Students are very clear about ‘school rules’

What are some areas for improvement?

Page 3: ANTONIO NEWSLETTER - The Web Console

Students thought we affirmed cultural diversity ‘sometimes’ so we will aim to improve this to ‘always’

Students stated that they gained support for learning ‘sometimes/often’ so we aim to increase this to ‘often/always’

Celebrating First Eucharist

We look forward to seeing Evan, Justin, Johnny and Gerard celebrate their First Eucharist with our parish

community at 10.00am Mass at Mary Help of Christians Church Morphett Vale. We also congratulate Ashlynn

who celebrated her First Eucharist last Sunday with her family and the parish community. This Sunday’s Mass will

be an exciting and wonderful celebration for these children and their families that marks a significant step in their

ongoing journey in faith. Thank you to everyone who has supported their learning and preparation.

Morphett Vale Parish Visitation

This coming weekend beginning with the First Eucharist Parish Mass at 10.00am, the Morphett Vale Parish will be

engaged in a Parish Visitation from Fr Philip Marshall and the visitation team in the Archdiocese. Visitations occur

every seven years and provide an opportunity for our parish to share how we work and worship together across

the Parish, including at Antonio and Emmaus. On Thursday 29th November, the team will also meet with various

parish groups and visit both schools. When they are at Antonio they will meet with the Mini- Vinnies team to

learn more about their work and achievements. On Sunday 2nd December, the team will once again celebrate

Mass at 10.00am at Mary Help of Christians Church then engage in a shared lunch and ‘open mic’ forum in The

Antonio Catholic School gymnasium. You are all invited to participate in this forum where you are invited to ask

questions or share your experiences in our parish with the visitation team. This will be an opportunity to

celebrate the successes and also identify possible areas for growth.

God bless.

Anthony Garton
