2018 STERLING EVENING DINNER & AUCTION
Enrolling for Fall 2018 Enrollment for Christ Our Rock for the 2018-
2019 school year continues its positive trend.
The school has already received several
applications for the freshman class.
Our second Open House for prospective
students is scheduled for Wednesday, January 24
6:30pm-8:00pm. Tours begin at 6:30pm followed
by a short presentation at 7:00pm. That evening
families will be able to visit the school, tour the
facilities, and talk with current students, parents,
and teachers. Transfer students and potential
freshman of all ages are encouraged to attend.
Christ Our Rock is able to accept applications
for transfer students at any time during the
school year, not just at the start of the semester.

encouraged to contact the school office at
226-3315 to receive an information packet and
set an appointment to visit the school.
Things are underway for our annual auction to be held on Saturday, March 17. Mark your calendars to reserve the date as we are planning another entertaining event which is important to the fund raising efforts of CORLHS. We are expecting 400 attendees bidding on 400 items in the silent and live auctions. There is always something for everyone. There are three basic ways which you can help with the auction. First, we need items or services to auction off. Past auctions have included many unique items such as, home baked goodies, crafts, quilts, trips, dinners, gift certificates, memorabilia, furniture, electronics, loads of firewood, and tickets to events. If you don't have an item to donate please consider being
a financial sponsor. Second, volunteer your time serving on a committee for auction planning, item acquisition, ticket and book design, or event staffing. And third, plan to attend and bid high on your favorite items.
The Sterling Evening has become a major event for CORLHS. Not only does it serve as our largest fund raiser, but people look forward to the evening of entertainment. Guests see the Sterling Evening as a fun way to support COR. They are
more actively bidding which makes the auction atmosphere more thrilling. Just wait and see who bids highest for the first table to dine. Invitations will be mailed in February. Contact the school office for more information on ways to help, donating auction items, or sponsorship opportunities.
ADDITIONAL WEBSITE We have created an additional website for you to keep up with our athletics and activities that is kept up to date more often. We are currently working on making it more mobile friendly but the desktop edition works great. Be sure to check it out at www.corstallions.org.
COR TRIVIA DAY: We are planning our annual Trivia Day for Sun., Jan. 28th at CORLHS at 2p.m..
All proceeds will go to our Bus Fund. You may purchase a chair for $15 or a whole table of 8 chairs for $100. Open to all ages. Doors will open early at 1:30p.m. to decorate and set up. Popcorn will be provided and soda will be sold but you may bring your own goodies. (No alcohol) If you have never gone to a trivia event, give this a try. You’ll have a ball! If you can’t get anyone else to join, just sign up and we’ll assign you to a team. Put a group together today. Remember, the highest scoring congregation team gets the traveling trophy!
POLAR PLUNGE: The Christ Our Rock "Shivering Stallions" will again be participating in the Polar Plunge at Carlyle Lake on February 25, 2018. Proceeds go to Illinois Special Olympics. Please visit www.soill.org/polar-plunge/ to donate on your child's or participant's behalf.
FORMER STUDENT: For the first time in the McKendree University women's volleyball program history, there were two athletes that received All-American AVCA Division honors. Amanda Geiger, former CORLHS student,
was among two named to the Division II All-American Third-Team by the American Volleyball Coaches Association. Senior right-side hitter, Geiger, finished the year averaging 3.88 kills and 3.40 digs per set. Amanda was named the 2017 Great Lakes Valley Conference Player of the Year, and also named to the AVCA All-Midwest Region Team following her outstanding regular season campaign. The McKendree Bearcats finished their 2017 season with an overall record of 23-9, and made their second appearance in the NCAA Division II Volleyball Tournament. Congratulations Amanda!
COR ALUMNI UPDATE: We are trying to accumulate mailing addresses and email addresses of all COR alumni. If you are an alumnus of COR, a parent of one, or know of one in your family or congregation. Please email the information back to COR at [email protected]. Thank you.

Girls Basketball : The Female edition of
the Silver Stallions basketball season continues to win. New Year but same result for the CORLHS Ladies basketball team. Coming off a disappointing 6th place finish at the Lebanon Christmas Tournament to end 2017, the Lady Stallions dominated once again in the Midland Trail Conference Tournament. Two wins led to defending the title as CORLHS rolled Wayne City 58-17 and ran past Woodlawn in the Championship game 54-20. Caroline Boehne was named tournament MVP, and joining her on with all tournament honors were teammates Georgia Agan and Macie Martin. CORLHS also defeated their annual matchup with Springfield Lutheran 55-41. Before that game Georgia Agan was recognized for scoring her 1000 point at Lebanon against Columbia on Dec. 29. Both Agan and Caroline Boehne recieved all Tournament honors at Lebanon. CORLHS record stands at 14-5. Congrats ladies and good luck!
Boys Basketball : Christ Our Rock boys basketball

They are currently 6-9 on the season took 5th in the Dieterich holiday tourney. Coach Britt says they are improving every game and are looking forward to the home stretch of the season.
Sports Shorts Memorials: A memorial or an honorary gift to a Christian school is certainly a fitting way to remember a friend or family member. Providing a Christian education to the next generation of Christian leaders is first class Kingdom building. The following memorials/honoraries were received recently during the month of November & December at Christ Our Rock:
MEMORIALS: Richard Beasley Ada “Fran” Frances Bennett Howard Kleiboeker Herschel Kasten Donny Berry Alfred Hugo Elmer Michael Helen Fischer Clarence Price Don Heard Del Fischer Terry Fark Carl W. Ramsour HONORARIES: Jerry & Millie Rakers Vernon & Betty Lippert
