They are advised to visit TCU and NACTE websites at www.tcu.go.tz/www.nacte.go.tz for further information. ii) The Institute strongly invites application for Certificate and Ordinary Diploma in Social Work for Kisangara campus – Moshi. iii) The Institute offers Foundation Course for candidates wishing to pursue Basic Technician Certificate programmes, those with 3 passes (D’s and above). The first intake for 2015/2016 will begin on 13 th , April, 2015. iv) All applicants for Ordinary Diploma, Certificate and Postgraduate Diploma programmes, both in Dar es Salaam and Kisangara, will lodge their applications directly to the Institute. v) Applications for Certificate, Ordinary Diploma and Postgraduate Diploma courses must be submitted to the Institute not later than Friday, 29 th May, 2015.

The Institute of Social Work (ISW) invites applications from qualified candidates for admission into various programmes that will be offered by the Institute for the 2015/2016 academic year. A. IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR ALL APPLICANTS

i) Applicants aspiring to pursue Bachelors Degree programmes will apply

through the Central Admission System (CAS) under TCU/NACTE. They are advised to visit TCU and NACTE websites at www.tcu.go.tz/www.nacte.go.tz for further information.

ii) The Institute strongly invites application for Certificate and Ordinary Diploma in Social Work for Kisangara campus – Moshi.

vi) All applicants are required to fill in the Institute application form obtainable at a non-refundable fee as follows;

a) Applicants for Certificate and Ordinary Diploma programmes are

required to pay tshs. 30,000/- for Tanzanians and US $ 30 for non-Tanzanians.

b) Applicants for Masters Programme are required to pay tshs. 50,000/- for Tanzanians and US $ 50 for non-Tanzanians

vii) The application fee should be deposited at Account number 01J1013365500 CRDB Bank. Original pay-in-slips must be attached to filled application forms to be submitted at the Institute accounts department.

viii) Applications must be accompanied with copies of relevant academic certificates, birth certificates and two recently taken passport size photographs. Result slips issued by NECTA from 2013 backwards will not be accepted.

viii) Application forms are available at www.isw.ac.tz.

Please note that session A is for students who will be studying during regular time and session B is for those who will be studying in the evening.

B. Programmes Offered and Required Entry Qualifications

1. MASTER’S DEGREE IN SOCIAL WORK This is a full time programme aimed at equipping graduates with practice skills that can enable them to address the ever changing and complex psycho-social, economic and cultural problems characterizing societies. Further, it intends to bridge the gap of high skilled human resources shortage in Social Work and academicians/trainers who can interpret and reflect in the world of professionalism in Social Work industry and Social Work training institutions.

Entry Qualifications

Applicants aspiring to pursue this programme must have the following Minimum requirements;

i) Advanced Diploma in Social Work or Bachelors Degree in Social Work or Postgraduate Diploma in Social Work

ii) Bachelors Degree in Social Sciences preferably in any of the following

Community Development, Sociology, Health Seiences, Psychology, Education etc.

iii) A minimum of 3.0 GPA in their undergraduate results

iv) At least a two (2) year work experience after completion of undergraduate studies is preferable.

2. POSTGRADUATE DIPLOMA PROGRAMMES- (OFFERED DURING

THE EVENING i.e SESSION B)

i. Postgraduate Diploma in Social Work ii. Postgraduate Diploma in Law, Mediation and Arbitration iii. Postgraduate Diploma in Health System Management iv. Postgraduate Diploma in Strategic Human Resource Management

Entry qualification Applicants must have at least second class in their Bachelors Degree/Advanced Diploma from recognized higher learning institutions.

3. BACHELORS DEGREE PROGRAMMES (NTA Level 7)

i) Bachelors Degree in Social Work (Session A and B) ii) Bachelors Degree in Industrial Relations (Session A and B) iii) Bachelors Degree in Human Resource Management (Session A and

B) Entry Qualifications (a) Direct Entry Scheme

Applicants must have at least a minimum of two principal passes at Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (ACSEE) in related subjects with minimum points of 2.5. A = 5; B+ = 4; B=3; C = 2; D=1; and E=0.5. In addition, they must have three (3) credits from Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (CSEE). (b) Equivalent Entry Scheme Applicants must have at least a two year Ordinary Diploma (NTA Level 6) with at least a Lower Second Class or an average of B and above in the related fields from a recognized Institutions. In addition, they must have at least four (4) passes from Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (CSEE).

4. ORDINARY DIPLOMA PROGRAMMES - NTA Level 5

i. Ordinary Diploma in Social Work (SESSION A and B) ii. Ordinary Diploma in Industrial Relations (SESSION A and B) iii. Ordinary Diploma in Human Resources Management (SESSION A and

B) iv. Ordinary Diploma in Social Work (Kisangara Campus)

Entry Qualifications a) Direct Entry Scheme

Applicants must have at least TWO E’s, equivalent to 1 point, at Advanced Level (NEW GRADING SCALE) and or ONE E and ONE S equivalent to 1.5 points (PREVIOUS GRADING SCALE). Additionally, they must have three (3) credits in their Certificate of Secondary Education Examinations (C.S.E.E.)

b) Equivalent Entry Scheme

i) Applicants must have completed Technician Certificate (NTA Level 4)

with at least second class or an average of B. In addition, they must have at least three (3) passes from Certificate of Secondary Education Examinations (C.S.E.E.)

ii) Applicants must have completed Certificate in Education (Grade 3A) with

at least an average of C. In addition, they must have at least three (3) passes in their Certificate of Secondary Education Examinations (C.S.E.E.)

iii) Applicants must have completed Certificate in Nursing/midwifery and related fields with at least or an average of B. In addition, they must have at least three (3) passes in their Certificate of Secondary Education Examinations (C.S.E.E.).

iv) Applicants who have completed other certificate programmes from Institutions recognized by NACTE (LOCAL or INTERNATIONAL) with at least second class or an average of B. In addition, they must have at least three (3) passes in their Certificate of Secondary Education Examinations (C.S.E.E.).

5. BASIC TECHNICIAN CERTIFICATE PROGRAMMES (NTA Level 4) i. Basic Technician Certificate in Social Work (SESSION A and B) ii. Basic Technician Certificate in Industrial Relations (SESSION A and B) iii. Basic Technician Certificate in Human Resources Management

(SESSION A and B) iv. Basic Technician Certificate in Social Work (Kisangara Campus)

a) Direct Entry Scheme Applicants must have (4) four passes in their Certificate of Secondary education examinations (C.S.E.E.). (b) Equivalent Entry Scheme i) Applicants must have a certificate (they have attended for a period of nine months and above) with at least an Second Class or an average of B and above. The award must be recognized by NACE. Additionally, they must have at least three (3) passes from Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (CSEE). ii) Applicants must have NVT Level 3 and three passes at in their Certificate of Secondary education examinations (C.S.E.E.). 6. FOUNDATION PROGRAMME Applicants must have (3) three passes in their Certificate of Secondary education examinations (C.S.E.E.). It should be noted that the lowest pass is D.
