‘THE GREATEST MUSICAL OF THE DECADE’

International Herald Tribune

Written by Willy Russell, the legendary BLOOD BROTHERS tells the

captivating and moving tale of twins who, separated at birth, grow up on

opposite sides of the tracks, only to meet again with tragic

consequences. Starring X Factor’s Niki Evans as Mrs Johnstone, the

superb score includes Bright New Day, Marilyn Monroe and the

emotionally charged hit Tell Me It’s Not True.

Few musicals have received quite such acclaim as the multi-award

winning BLOOD BROTHERS, and Bill Kenwright’s production,

having recently celebrated its 21st phenomental year in London,

continues to enjoy standing ovations at every devastating

performance. No wonder BLOOD BROTHERS is now

“The musical for all time”.

One look at thebiographies andaccomplishments ofthe individual playersthat make up theUltimate Eagles willtell you a great dealabout what you canexpect when you cometo see them perform. You’re looking at guysthat have played every

kind of venue, in manydifferent countries, atevery level, from clubs,to theatres, to festivalsand stadiums. You’relooking at years ofprofessional, world touring

experience by 6 of the mostaccomplished musicians you’relikely to find in any band; tributeor original. You’ve got awardwinners, rock stars, and playersthat have been regularly featuredin some of the biggestpublications in music. Not tomention some TV time as well; Top

of The Pops? MTV? They’ve donethat too!Four of the guys were also a part

of England’s Illegal Eagles, oneof the most well-known and well-

respected Eagles tribute bandsthat have come down the road in

a long while.

So, why the new band? The boys just felt like it needed a

little something. Something“bigger, better, faster, more”.Covering the Eagles music is not

a thing you attempt half-heartedly. The songs aredeceptively complex, particularly

the vocal arrangements and, more importantly, the songs arerevered throughout the world.Next time you’re at a party andsomebody has a guitar, getsomeone to play an Eagles song,

any Eagles song, and watch the

faces light up and listen toeveryone join in singing. This is the experience thatthese guys have had allover the world for a lot ofyears now and one theywant keep on bringing toyou, wherever you are, even better than you’vehad it before. The ULTIMATE EAGLESrecreate the music withreverence, excitement andwith a new stage showthat focuses its brightlights and flash on the1970’s, when the Eagles

were at their mightiest, you just

might find yourself whisked away

to the sunny climes of SouthernCalifornia. One look at The ULTIMATEEAGLES’ collective experience, musicality, (and let’s face it,these guys love to play), andprofessionalism, and it’s easy to

understand the band’s simple, but

bold mission statement; to playthe Eagles’ music better thananybody, anywhere. Second only

to The Eagles themselves.Come out and seethem and judge foryourselves!

I’m Emma Scott from Heart Drivetime! I’m quite new to Devonafter moving from The West Midlands with my ever-sufferinghusband and two young children. We love being here andafter 6 months are almost unpacked! We move a lot – my 10year old daughter has lived in 8 different houses!

To give you a bit of history about myself, I left school at 16and went straight into radio, and have now been in the jobfor 23 years! My original plan was to do my two yearYouth Training Scheme at my local station, and then jointhe Police Force. Not sure I’ll get to fulfil that dreamthough! I’m not sure Iím grown up enough for a start! I’vealways loved radio and working in it only made my lovestronger – so maybe I’ll never leave!!

I have quite a busy life! Besides my show at Heart, Itravel a lot doing music industry seminars and teachradio at various colleges and universities – which I love!I have just published my first book and am well on theway to write my next two!

My husband and I also run a successful live musicpromotions company ‘Emma Scott Presents’ which haskept us busy for the past 5 years. Never a dullmoment! My two girls keep us busy too and I alsohelp out at their school when I can. The most recentthing I’ve been roped into is the Exmoor Challenge witha bunch of Year 6’s! Could be fun!

As a family, we visit as many beaches as we can, andin Devon, we are so spoilt! We love to just get in thecar with a picnic and take off. We always packblankets as we’re usually on the beach untilnightfall, and the kids can sleep on the way home inthe car! We’re saving up for a camper van to makethings a little easier! I can’t wait for the summer, butam quite happy sitting on a beach with fish n chips inthe middle of winter too. I just love the seaside and Ilove living in Devon. I’m hoping there won’t be anyother moves for a while

One look at thebiographies andaccomplishments ofthe individual playersthat make up theUltimate Eagles willtell you a great dealabout what you canexpect when you cometo see them perform. You’re looking at guysthat have played everykind of venue, in manydifferent countries, atevery level, from clubs,to theatres, to festivalsand stadiums. You’relooking at years ofprofessional, world touringexperience by 6 of the mostaccomplished musicians you’relikely to find in any band; tributeor original. You’ve got awardwinners, rock stars, and playersthat have been regularly featuredin some of the biggestpublications in music. Not tomention some TV time as well; Topof The Pops? MTV? They’ve donethat too!

Four of the guys were also a partof England’s Illegal Eagles, oneof the most well-known and well-respected Eagles tribute bandsthat have come down the road ina long while.

So, why the new band? The boys just felt like it needed alittle something. Something“bigger, better, faster, more”.

Covering the Eagles music is nota thing you attempt half-heartedly. The songs aredeceptively complex, particularlythe vocal arrangements and, more importantly, the songs arerevered throughout the world.

Next time you’re at a party andsomebody has a guitar, getsomeone to play an Eagles song, any Eagles song, and watch the

faces light up and listen toeveryone join in singing. This is the experience thatthese guys have had allover the world for a lot ofyears now and one theywant keep on bringing toyou, wherever you are, even better than you’vehad it before.

The ULTIMATE EAGLESrecreate the music withreverence, excitement andwith a new stage showthat focuses its brightlights and flash on the1970’s, when the Eagles

were at their mightiest, you justmight find yourself whisked awayto the sunny climes of SouthernCalifornia.

One look at The ULTIMATEEAGLES’ collective experience, musicality, (and let’s face it,these guys love to play), andprofessionalism, and it’s easy tounderstand the band’s simple, butbold mission statement; to playthe Eagles’ music better thananybody, anywhere. Second onlyto The Eagles themselves.

Come out and seethem and judge foryourselves!

Highly acclaimed local Producer& director Colin Matthews’comes up trumps again withanother top quality show for2011 “Heatwave”! This show isvery special as it marks Colin’s25th Anniversary at theBabbacome Theatre and this isanother fantastic production tohit the stage with something foreveryone, including song, comedy, dance and good oldfashion family fun!The show started with a verypositive, explosive beginningwhich was to be the trendthroughout the evening. Thelighting and effects in this intimatevenue were stunning and youcould see from the outset a lot of hard work and dedicationhas gone into this production.

The whole cast was faultless but inparticular Andy Oakley’s comicgenius was on top form from start to finish. With authentic

impressions and comedy sketches, the crowd loved every minute of it,a lot of the gags were original andentertaining.

The dancers were fabulous and thechoreography was veryprofessional, you could see howmuch work had gone into this withthe confidence of the dancers. Aspecial mention here also for theyounger dancers, they werebrilliant and definitely somethingto watch for the future.

The show has a lot of quick firesketches and never a dull moment. If there ever was a show withsomething for every one this hasto be it with routines from Shrekto Moulin Rouge and my personalfavourite was the Cheap flightsroutine, hilarious! Which ringstrue as there is no such thing as acheap flight! I could give you therun down on every routine but Iam not going to spoil your fun,you will have to go along and seethe show yourself!

With all of this talent set in a veryintimate venue and without doubtone of the most picturesquelocations Torbay has to offer thishas the makings, in my opinion, ofone of the most successful run ofshows for a long time.

The show runs until 19th Octoberand is worth every penny, goodclean family fun with somethingfor everyone, I would highlyrecommend the show to anyone! If there is a better show of thiskind on the South West, I wouldlike to see it!

Every year the production getsbetter than the previous! That istestament to their dedication andtalent, well done everyone at theBabbacome Theatre!

Please visit the Theatre websitefor details of their fantastic 241offer for Thursdays in May.

‘THE GREATEST MUSICAL OF THE DECADE’International Herald Tribune

Written by Willy Russell, the legendary BLOOD BROTHERS tells thecaptivating and moving tale of twins who, separated at birth, grow up onopposite sides of the tracks, only to meet again with tragicconsequences. Starring X Factor’s Niki Evans as Mrs Johnstone, thesuperb score includes Bright New Day, Marilyn Monroe and theemotionally charged hit Tell Me It’s Not True.

Few musicals have received quite such acclaim as the multi-awardwinning BLOOD BROTHERS, and Bill Kenwright’s production, having recently celebrated its 21st phenomental year in London, continues to enjoy standing ovations at every devastatingperformance. No wonder BLOOD BROTHERS is now “The musical for all time”.
