Peugeot’s new city car arrived at Arbury on July 1st. It’s a talented, effi cient performer perfectly happy outside its natural city habitat. But is there more to the 108 than that? A closer look reveals what sets it apart from the

competition.

Peugeot went to great lengths to ensure every 108 is well specifi ed. Despite being Peugeot’s least expensive car, buyers can choose from dozens of options, from reversing cameras

to leather upholstery. All but the entry-level 108s receive a 7-inch touchscreen for controlling infotainment that can be paired with most phones, allowing you to use your phone’s functions on a larger display. Bluetooth and

More than simply making the 108 a well-equipped and pleasant place to spend time, Peugeot wanted to give customers the ability to make each car truly unique. Drivers can choose to customise their cars with a range of bright exterior colours, seven styling packs with dash and exterior stickers, seat fabric patterns, and 3 interior themes to choose from,

all for £350*. For another £850*, you can even specify a folding fabric roof, giving the 108 convertible credentials.

The 108 is still comfortable getting on with the business of providing affordable, practical transportation. With a 180 litre boot behind the rear seats, which grows to 780 litres with the seats folded, there’s room for all the shopping and a few adults to ride along. And it’s affordable

to run. Both engine options emit less than 100g/km of CO2, and offer comparable fuel economy between 65.7 and 74.3mpg. Not bad with 80bhp for nipping through urban traffic. No matter which 108 you choose there will be no road tax to pay.

Best of all, the 108 is light and nimble on the road. You’ll enjoy it in traffic, in town and on a B-road – just take a test drive and see for yourself.


58 judges from 22 countries around Europe whittled down a shortlist of 30 cars to crown the innovative Peugeot 308 as the European Car of the Year. Beating the BMW i3, the Tesla Model S, Mercedes S-Class and more, the 308 took the prestigious award making radical advances in a market segment that’s normally less than exciting. In the award summary, the panel noted the new, diverse engines and use of lightweight composite materials.

Maxime Picat, Peugeot’s CEO, was understandably delighted with the direction his company took with the 308. "We made radical choices. We made it very light, and we made an interior clear of buttons,” he said. “The Peugeot lion is hungry again." The European Car of the Year Award vote

is intended to provide a single, decisive winner. That the Peugeot 308 won by over 84 points (with 307 points overall) makes this one of the clearest winners in recent years.

The space age name describes what amounts to a hatchback version of the ŠKODA Rapid saloon. Don’t assume that it’s just a slight change though, the Spaceback improves on the Rapid’s looks no end, and the slick rear hatch glass extends down the tailgate in a waterfall effect. Elsewhere it’s the same uncluttered, timeless lines borrowed from the saloon. Suspension has also been retuned for a more compliant ride on the UK’srough roads.

As you might have guessed, the Spaceback offers a lot of space. But it’s not restricted to the back. The boot, 415 litres with the rear seats up, can’t compare to the impressive rear leg and headroom, 64 and 980mm respectively. That’s a lot of room to stretch out. Best of all, it’s good value in the classic ŠKODA fashion. The Rapid Spaceback starts at £14,340 on the road.
