ACADEMIC PROJECT

NIAVARAN LIBRARY IS A PRACTICE IN SUSTAINABLE DESIGN. IN HOT AND DRY CLIMATE OF TEHRAN, FORM OF NIAVARAN LIBRARY IS INSPIRED BY IRANIAN ANCIENT “WIND-CATCHERS”. NORTHERN PART OF THE BUILDING RECEIVES NORTH-SOUTH WIND OF TEHRAN WHICH COULD BE USED IN PASSIVE AIR CONDITIONING. IN ADDITION TO HUMIDIFY AND COOLING DOWN THE AIR FLOW, A POOL IS LOCATED IN THE NORTH OF THE PLOT. IN THE SOUTHERN PART THE SAME FORM PLAYS DIFFERENT ROLE; IT RECEIVES SUN LIGHT IN WINTER AND IN SUMMER THE INTAKE IS CONTROLLED BY SHADERS, THIS DOUBLE HEIGHT STRUCTURE ATRIUM HELPS INNER SPACE UNITY.

THE MAJORITY OF CINEMAS IN IRAN ARE ALMOST BANKRUPTED, SO CITY OF TEHRAN DECIDED TO PROVIDE AND PROTECT STUDIES ON REJUVENATION OF CINEMAS. IN THIS REGARD PARDIS PROJECT .AND STUDIES INTRODUCED NEW PARADIGMS OF CINEMAS TO MAKE NEW MOVIE THEATER COMPLEXES IN COMBINATION WITH SHOPPING MALLS TO MIX CULTURAL ROLE OF CINEMAS WITH ENTERTAINMENT FACILITIES TO RESTORE IT.

KAYSON CONSTRUCTION SYSTEM SOLID IN-SITU CONCRETE METHOD WITH A CONTINUOUS FORMWORK SYSTEM

THE 10,000 UNIT RESIDENTIAL HOUSING MASS PRODUCTION FOR LOW-INCOME SOCIETY, INITIATED ON 2006 IN 4 TOWNSHIPS; MONAGAS (MATURIN), PORTUGUESA (ACARIGUA), COJEDES (SAN CARLOS), GUARICO (CALABOZO) AND A PROPOSAL FOR LARA (BARQUISIMETO).

THE SCOPE OF PROJECT IS TO CONSTRUCT APARTMENTS WITH TWO AND THREE BEDROOMS, IN 4 STORY BLOCKS VIA THE INDUSTRIALIZED MASS-HOUSING CONSTRUCTION METHOD CALLED " CAST-IN-SITU MONOLITHIC REINFORCED CONCRETE CONSTRUCTION SYSTEM".

INCLUDING 17 RESIDENTIAL ZONES, MATURIN IS A GATED COMMUNITY. A MAIN COLLECTOR ROAD LEADING TO PARKING WAYS AND A RING ROAD MAKE THE MOTOR WAY NETWORK AND A CENTER PROVIDES CULTURAL, EDUCATIONAL AND SOCIAL ACTIVITIES.

17 DIFFERENT FUNCTIONS WERE DESIGNED AS PROTOTYPES OF CIVIL FACILITIES, CULTURAL, ENTERTAINMENT, SPORT, MEDICAL AND EDUCATIONAL CENTERS IN EACH SITE. ALL THESE BUILDINGS WERE DESIGNED IN THE FRAMEWORK OF INDUSTRIAL DESIGN. ACCORDING TO LOCAL MATERIALS AND SPACE NEEDS, BASE MODULE CONSIDERED 63 CM. ALL ARCHITECTURAL DIMENSIONS AND STRUCTURAL GRID SPECIFIED WITH REGARD TO THE BASE MODULE.

VOLUME

VARIETY OF ANCILLARY BUILDINGS, VARIOUS FUNCTIONS AND AREAS IN COMBINATION WITH CLIMATIC CONDITION OF SITE MADE VARIOUS TYPES OF PITCHED ROOFS. ALL AROUND OF EACH BUILDING IS COVERED WITH EXTENSION OF ROOF TO PROTECT PEDESTRIANS AND BUILDING FROM RAIN AND SUN RADIATION.

TRAFFIC OFFICE BUILDING IS A SMALL OFFICE BUILDING LOCATED ALONGSIDE ONE OF THE BUSIEST STREETS IN DOWNTOWN TEHRAN. COMMISSIONED BY TEHRAN MUNICIPALITY, IT WAS MEANT TO SERVE AS A BUILDING BOTH FOR TEHRAN TRAFFIC CONTROL POLICE FORCE AND REGION MUNICIPALITY, SO AS THE DIAGRAM OF BODY SHOWS, THE BUILDING IS THE COMBINATION OF TWO FUNCTIONS.

IT WAS DESIGNED IN THE FORM OF ‘OPEN OFFICE’, ALLOWING THE MOST FLEXIBILITY OF USE IN THE LIMITED FLOOR AREA OF EACH LEVEL AND TWO BASEMENT LEVELS WHICH ACCOMMODATE DORMITORIES FOR TRAFFIC POLICE CONSCRIPTS AND TRAINEES. THE BUILDING HAS TAKEN THE SHAPE OF ITS IRREGULAR PLOT IN PLAN VIEW, COVERING THE ENTIRE PLOT.

IN DECEMBER OF 2008, ITALIAN FASHION BRAND UNITED COLORS OF BENETTON LAUNCHED AN INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION DESIGNING IN TEHRAN TO DEVELOP A DESIGN FOR A MULTISTORY BUILDING. DESIGNERS WERE CALLED TO INTEGRATE THE NEW ARCHITECTURE IN THE LOCAL URBAN AND COMMERCIAL SETTING WHILE TAKING IN ACCOUNT CULTURAL ASPECT. SO WE DESIGNED A MODERN GLASS BUILDING INSIDE ANOTHER BUILDING WITH PERSIAN PATTERN ON THE SKIN. THIS BUILDING ALSO INCLUDES OFFICE UNITS.

LOCATION: QOM, IRAN

QOM MONORAIL IS UNDER CONSTRUCTION, MAKING IT THE FIRST MONORAIL EXPERIENCE IN IRAN. THE FIRST PHASE OF QOM MONORAIL CONSISTS OF 6.7KM OF TRACK WITH EIGHT STATIONS. PROJECT STARTED WITH TRAFFIC STUDIES, BASIC DESIGN AND FUNCTIONAL LAYOUT DONE BY SYSTRA COMPANY.

STATIONS ARE OF THE SIDE PLATFORM CONFIGURATION AND DIVIDED INTO TWO TYPES OF TPS AND LPS STATIONS ON THREE CATEGORIES: AT-GRADE, ELEVATED ON THE TOP OF RIVER BED AND THE STATION LOCATED IN THE HISTORICAL ZONE.

ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN ALSO ENCOMPASSES PIER HEAD, ACCESS BRIDGE, VIADUCT IN HISTORICAL ZONE.

A MIXED-USE COMPLEX INCLUDING RESIDENTIAL TOWER, OFFICE AND SHOPPING MALL IS THE MAIN OBJECTIVE OF DESIGN IN KERAPOTKINA AVENUE OF MINSK CITY WHERE AN ABANDONED CERAMIC FACTORY LOCATED IN A 49,300 SQM PLOT. DESIGN CORE PREPARED 6 DIFFERENT ALTERNATIVES, SOME OF THEM ARE BASE ON THE IDEA OF "PODIUM AND TOWERS" WHILE OTHERS ARE BASE ON SEPARATED FUNCTION, BUT THERE IS A COMMON IDEA AMONG ALL OF THEM WHICH IS A COMBINATION OF GREENERY AXIS AND PEDESTRIAN ACCESS IN THE MIDDLE OF PLOT. VARIOUS ALTERNATIVES IN DESIGN PROCESS ARE SHOWN BELOW.

LOCATED IN THE HEART OF MINSK CITY, POLYGRAPH KOMBINAT PUBLICATION IS AN OLD BUILDING INCLUDING PUBLISHING SALOONS, MACHINERIES, OFFICE AND PAPER STORE. BASE ON CITY STUDIES AND COLLABORATION OF TURKISH AND POLISH COMPANIES, THE PUBLICATION ACTIVITIES SHOULD BE MOVED TO ANOTHER PLACE IN ADDITION, THE BUILDING SHOULD BE RECONSTRUCTED WITH NEW FUNCTIONS INCLUDING A HIGH QUALITY HOTEL. IN THIS REGARD BELPARS COMPANY DECIDED TO PRESENT A PROPOSAL IN THE BID, SO A CONCEPTUAL DESIGN PREPAID BY DESIGN CORE TO CHANGE THE OLD BUILDING TO A NEW FUNCTION WHILE KEEPING THE FACADES.

A 5 STAR HOTEL AND AN OFFICE BUILDING ARE TWO WINGS OF THE CONCEPT AND A EUROPEAN STYLE SHOPPING MALL AND ARCADE, ARE LOCATED IN THE CENTER AL COURT YARD OF PLOT.

SHOPPING MALL DESIGNED WITH RETAILS, ARCADE SHOPS, GALLERY MALL, 11 CAFES AND RESTAURANTS SUPERMARKET AND DEPARTMENT STORES 320 PARKING LOTS (1 PARKING LOT / 50 SQM GLA) AND THE LOCATION IS IN THE CENTER OF PLOT. 75 OFFICES (ESTIMATED AREA FOR EACH OFFICE APPROX.. 85 SQM), BUSINESS LOBBY, CONFERENCE CENTER AND 60 PARKING LOTS ARE LOCATED T ON THE EAST OF PLOT.

MR. LAVASANI -A MEMBER OF A WELL-KNOWN LANDLORD FAMILY- SUBDIVIDED HIS PROPERTY IN ALAEEN -A SMALL VILLAGE- CONTEMPLATING TO BUILD A LUXURY VILLA TO MAKE HIGH CLASS LOOK FOR THE WHOLE PROPERTIES.

IN THE PLOT THERE ARE SOME OLD VALUABLE TREES SO THE VOLUME OF BUILDING PENETRATED IN THE NATURE OF SITE AND TOOK SHAPE LIKE FOUR FINGERS. STONE RETAINING WALLS, STEEL COLUMNS AND COMPOSITE STEEL DECK CEILINGS CONSIDERED IN STRUCTURAL DESIGN AND PURE MINIMAL DETAILS DESIGNED AS WELL.
