Nehemiah faced an almost impossible task. The walls of God’s city, Jerusalem, lay in ruins and there was much opposition but despite this Nehemiah insisted “The God of heaven Himself will prosper us; therefore we His servants will arise and build!” (Nehemiah 1:20)

We don’t have to build the walls of Jerusalem, you’ll be relieved to know! God is STILL in the business of building … but not a temple or a city… instead, he’s building a people. Our task is to reach men, women, young people and children for Jesus Christ, and then to build them up in Jesus so that they are strong and mature, and able to reach out to others.

We believe we need to take on 2 new workers to help us in that building task: a Youth & Children’s Pastor who can coordinate and lead our work reaching out to kids in our town, and an Operations Manager who can help us to be more organised and get things done!

This leaflet sets out what we need, why we need it and asks you to help us in this People building work.

The God of heaven Himself WILL prosper us! So… let’s arise and build!

HOWCAN IHELP?

Of course we don’t expect a Youth Pastor to reach 22,000 young people in our town!! BUT we do need someone who can lead our army of volunteer leaders, training them well, supporting and caring for them, and grow the team so that we steadily reach more and more kids and youth! Such a Pastor would need to coordinate our children’s and youth work on a Sunday, in our local schools and during the midweek. They would need to know and understand children’s work, and be experienced in youth work. In short, we need a full-time, paid Youth and Children’s Pastor.

A few years ago we invited John Truscott, an experienced church consultant to undertake a study of St Andrew's. His conclusion was “You are a church of dreams without adequate organisational structures and resources to enable God to work through you to achieve them.” In other words we have grown hugely to around 700+ people, so we are no longer a corner shop but a supermarket!!! We need someone full-time to join our sta� who can head up operations, establish good structures, lead a team of administrators, and mobilise resources to help us realise our church’s vision (to be a Beacon Church that Reaches, Builds and Sends).

We need to raise £65,000 for Year 1, and the same for Year 2 and Year 3. Until people have pledged to give the total amount for all 3 years, we will not be able to go ahead.Please think about what you can give in Year 1, Year 2 and Year 3. If 200 people gave as little as £6.25 a week for the next 3 years we would raise the amount we need! Just imagine, for the same cost as a couple of co�ees and donuts we can build a stronger church family and impact hundreds of lives!

So… Please pray about it. Pray that God would move us all to give. And then please decide how much you can give. You may feel you can’t give much, it doesn’t matter! Give what you can. You may be able to give a on-o� gift - that’s great! Please do! It may be that you can’t give at the moment. We understand, but please pray, and when you are able to, consider giving. Thank you!
