“i decided to study my Degree at CSVPA,rather than another UK university, because not only is Cambridge one of my favourite places in the world, but the small class sizes were really impor tant to me. The facilities are also amazing, you have everything you need in one

building.

i really valued my time spent at CSVPA and i really miss it. The teachers were so suppor tive

and provided us with as much guidancedepending on the needs of each individual

student. i still ask for help from my pattern making tutor, and she gives me all the time i need even though i am not a student anymore!

if you want to be an avant-garde designer like me you need to work really hard and work

smar t. it is down to you.”

“CSVPA has helped me to advance to the next stage of my studies. every day the lecturers were there to suppor t us, whilst the environment of a dedicated Ar t & Design school

helped me to relax and concentrate on my studies. TheDegree programme is so distinct from any other university because you can learn the basic skills and you can take them

as far as you want.

Cambridge is such a great place to study yourUndergraduate Degree; the city helped me to develop more interesting and sophisticated ideas. At the beginning of my studies i was concerned, like a lot of people, about what i would do at the end. However, CSVPA has opened up so many oppor tunities giving me the luxury of choosing what i wanted to do next. it makes me proud of the course and my achievements. You realise at the end how far advanced you

are compared to students at other universities.”

“i definitely learnt a huge amount at CSVPA and i am eternally grateful to the staff there

for everything they did for me. Theyintroduced me to so much of the world i work in professionally today - not just in the technical sense through learning software and

skills, but philosophically too.

For me it was just about being able tofocus. every day i knew i could walk through the doors and learn a tonne of stuff in what felt like my own personal college. not many

places resonate like that.

work hard and you’ll be rewarded. it may not seem like it at times, but the skills you’re

learning there are invaluable. if you want to get paid for drawing car toons and doodling on computers, it’s places like CSVPA that

equip you for that environment.”

“i joined the course with a rather inflated opinion of myself. i knew i wanted to do fashion, i knew i could draw, so what else

could i possible learn? As it happens...an awful lot.

Looking back i realised just how much i had advanced in that year, how much more i had been exposed to. i came away with skills and

knowledge that were so crucial in my development. Many of those skills i still refer

back to on a daily basis.

The course is brilliant because it covers such a wide range of disciplines, it’s quite unique. You have the oppor tunity to gain experience

in areas that other colleges simply don’toffer. it was only after leaving Cambridge that i realised how lucky i was to receive such high levels of suppor t and contact time

with tutors.

with the suppor t of CSVPA i was accepted on a ver y competitive fashion design course

wHAT we LOOK FOR ina portFolio

when students apply to any of our courses, we are often asked “what should i include in my por tfolio?” and “how many pieces do you want to see?” For

us it is less about the number of pieces and more about what you put in there. Quality is more impor tant than quantity; show us your best work.

At CSVPA, we are looking for students to demonstrate originality and motivation. You need to show us that you are interested in the subject area you are applying for. if you are passionate about something, show it! it is less about the final piece and more about the thought process you have gone through. Show us your research and ideas in sketchbooks or notebooks and

show us a variety of work which demonstrates the skills and experienceyou have.
