“The artist is formed as a child.” When she was ten years old, Rina Lyampe came all by herself to an open examination at the exclusive Moscow Art School for gifted children. The only ones to be amazed that she was instantly accepted were her parents.In her first competition in college, one of her instructors accompanied her for a full two days. Her unusual and unexpected still life took first place among two hundred entries.After college, the young artist was invited to teach at the Moscow University of the Arts. She helped many of her students reveal their talents, and actively participated in many exhibitions in Moscow, as well as in many other Russian cities. Emigration to the United States, although difficult, had brought new hopes, and opened up new possibilities.Rina has worked for the Goldman publishing house, for “Tsivos Khashem” and “Godfortune” magazines and for “Hahai” and “Artscroll” publishing houses.Since 1994, Rina has worked as a post stamps designer for the Intergovernmental Philatelic Corporation. The stamps designed by her have been ordered by France, the United States, Tanzania, Guyana, Azerbaijan, St. Vincent and Nevis.Rina is firmly convinced that the most vital aspect of artistic creativity is the feeling of awe, of mystery and revelations through which the child sees this world. In her work she tries to express the feeling of unity and at the same time, estrangement from our commonality. In her opinion, the best pictures are those that combine two realities: the artist’s experience in a previous life, and what is happening to the artist today. When a painting is finished, the secret it reveals is always a surprise to Rina herself.

“Художник формируется в детстве.” Когда ей было десять лет, Рина Лямпе сама пришла

поступать в эксклюзивную Московскую художественную школу для одаренных

детей. Единственные, кто былпоражен тем, что ее сразу приняли,

оказались ее родители. Во время вступительного экзамена в

колледж один из ее учителей сопровождал ее на протяжении целых двух дней. Ее необычный и неожиданный натюрморт

занял первое место среди работ двухсот остальных поступавших.

После окончания колледжа, молодая художница была приглашена преподавать в Московском университете искусств. Она

помогла многим своим ученикам раскрыть свои таланты и активно участвовала во многих выставках как в Москве, так и в

других городах России. Эмиграция в США, несмотря на

трудности, принесла новые надежды и открыла новые возможности. Рина работала

в издательствах Goldman, Hahai и Artscroll, для журналов Tsivos Khashem и Godfortune.

С 1994 года Рина выполняла работу в качестве дизайнера почтовых марок для

Межправительственной филателистической корпорации. Марки, которые она

разработала, были заказаны Францией, США, Танзанией, Гайаной, Азербайджаном,

Сент-Винсентом и Невисом. Рина твердо убеждена, что наиболее

важным аспектом художественного творчества является чувство страха, тайны и откровения, через которое ребенок видит

этот мир. В своих работах она пытается выразить чувство единства и в то же время

отчужденности от остальных. Лучшие фотографии, по ее мнению - те, которые совмещают в себе две реальности: опыт

художника в предыдущей жизни и то, что происходит с ним сегодня. Когда картина

закончена, секрет, который она раскрывает - это всегда сюрприз для самой Рины.

Peter Mankovskiy was born in the picturesque small town of Essentuki, one of the most popular mineral water and health resort in southern Russia. During his childhood he attended a creative art studio led by Aleksey Kabantsev, a Member of the Russian Union of Artists who is well known for his mountain landscapes.Peter received his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Stavropol Art College, in Russia, specializing in Mural and Decorative Art. In addition, he attended a program at the Documentary Film Studio and took composition classes at St. Petersburg Art School under Sergey G. Debizhev, a Member of the Russian Union of Artists and a Member of the Union of Cinematographers.From the early stages of his fine art career, Peter had shown his individual style that developed into expressive abstractionism. He had been working as a fine artist, led an art studio, designed newspaper outlines and theater performances. His designing assignments range from monumental art to miniatures, book graphics, polygraphy, and ex libris. In addition, he authored numerous advertisements and art costume sketches.Peter Mankovskiy lives on the foothills of the magnificent Caucasus Mountains, and that’s where he finds his inspiration. Peter’s interests are broad: from poetry and architecture to music, theater, and ballet. His appreciation for ethnic music woke up his interest in symbolic sign art and eastern calligraphy.

Его жизнь похожа на набросок… Чистый лист бросает вызов художнику, и

автор первым росчерком доказывает бессмысленность пустоты листа. Как в

капле дождя отражается Вселенная, так и в его работах отражается большой

окружающий мир. Красной нитью через все этапы его

творчества прошли ежедневные зарисовки натуры, впечатлений, фантазий, идей…

Эти пачки изрисованных блокнотов, тетрадей, листов можно рассматривать

как некий дневник художника. Часто осознанно прерывая линию, художник как

бы приглашает зрителя к домысливанию образа, к соавторству.

Главный период в творчестве Петра Манковского начался с увлечения поэзией И. Бродского и необыкновенной прозой М.

Павича (“Хазарский словарь”). Именно тогда он в поисках своего пластического языка

обратился к жанру миниатюры. Уникальная природа Северного Кавказа, снежные горы

и холмы с целебными источниками, древние тропы Великого Шелкового Пути, места,

где смешались многие культуры и религии, наполняют художника вдохновением.

В миниатюрах Петра есть свой индивидуальный канон, благодаря

которому он легко узнаваем. Его миниатюры привлекают зрителя не только

своим размером - художник предлагает постепенное созерцательное погружение

в изображаемый им мир. И тогда ритм цветовых плоскостей заставляет

увидеть то, что не сразу бросается в глаза. Задние планы начинают работать

сильнее, декоративный узор неожиданно превращается в китайский иероглиф, во

фразу, подобранную на восточном базаре, или нотную вязь.

Born as Russian, he converted to Judaism had acquired a deep insight into great Jewish culture and takes Torah as a most important book in his life.Yakov is a talented artist and poet. He wrote poetic versions of Torah stories and created illustrations for them. It’s a classic saying that the genius and malice are not compatible; and the true Faith is not compatible with slyness and insincerity. «Дарить» - это, быть может, не самое точное в данном случае слово. Но все

же не откажусь от него..Так вот, недавно в Нью-Йорке я

встретил человека, с которым и вас хочу познакомить. Это Яков Миронов...

Русский по национальности, он принял иудаизм, глубоко проник в суть великой еврейской культуры,

в религию нашего народа и воспринимает Тору как не просто

настольную, а как главную книгу всей своей жизни.

Яков – талантливый художник, поэт. Он пересказал в стихих многие

сюжеты Торы и сопроводил свой поэтический пересказ рисунками.

Это не первый случай «пересказа» великих книг.

Корней Чуковский, к примеру, высокоталантливо приобщил детей к

библейским историям.Как утверждал классик, гений и

злодейство несовместимы. А истинная Вера несовместима с лукавством, с

неискренностью.Прочитав стихи Якова Миронова,

вновь непоколебимо в этом убеждаешься.

Итак, я хочу и вас познакомить с чудесным Яковом Мироновым.

Каким образом? Как же устроить эту «встречу»? С помощью его

George Bernard Shaw once said about teachers: “He who can, does. He who cannot, teaches.” I believe that the only way to teach others art is doing art together and, while teaching, learn with your disciple. This is the only way you can get the result and many years of myartistic and educational practice had confirmed this. One of my best students is Roman Neklyudov. He came to me when he was just 7 with one passion – he wanted to become an artist. Due to his unusual technique and the use the French black linen paper, his works extremely intriguing, decorative, easily recognizable and loved by the audience. The main theme of his work is human life in all its manifestations.But that time, when he was 7 years old, he had no technique, not to mention the style and manner, he was just a boy looking at the world with eyes wide open, he was interested in everything and wanted to grasp the immensity. Years had passed, until, in our joint creative work, he understood the basic principles of my training: “I heard and forgot. I saw and remembered. I did and understood. “But the technique has not been perfected yet, there were many issues with the proper ratio of black and color, with particularity of the linen paper and so on. And Roman showed his character in answering all of them. Those were real throes of creation. But the result had exceeded all expectations. He understood and did it, and it was a victory! And that is the joy and the mystery of teaching art.

Еще великий Бернард Шоу, говоря об учителях, сказал: «Кто умеет, делает. Кто не умеет, учит других»... Я уверен, что научить искусству других можно лишь в том случае,

если создавать его вместе и, обучая, учиться вместе со своим учеником.

Только такой способ обучения может дать результат. Это проверено моей многолетней

художественной и педагогической практикой. Один из моих любимых учеников

– Роман Неклюдов. Он пришел ко мне в свои неполные 7 лет

с одним желанием – стать художником. Благодаря необычной технике

изображения и использованию французской черной льняной бумаги его работы

необычайно интересны, декоративны, легко узнаваемы и любимы зрителями. Главная тема его работ – жизнь людей во всех ее

проявлениях. Но в 7 лет у него еще не было никакой

техники, не говоря уже о стиле и манере изображения. Был просто мальчик

Рома, который смотрел на мир широко открытыми глазами, и ему было интересно все, он хотел объять необъятное. Прошел не один год, пока в процессе совместной творческой работы он не понял главные

принципы моего обучения: «Слышал и забыл. Увидел и запомнил. Сделал и понял».

Да и сама техника еще не была продумана до конца, было много вопросов,

не было найдено и выверено количество необходимого черного цвета в отношении к цветному, не использовалась возможность

льняной бумаги втягивать в себя краску... Вопросы, вопросы... И чтобы на них

ответить, Роман проявил характер. Это были настоящие Муки Творчества. Но

результат оправдал все ожидания. Он СДЕЛАЛ и ПОНЯЛ, и это была

победа! И в этом радость и тайна обучения искусству.

The free artist... The concept which has become commonplace in the last decades of our time. This is how many people of creative professions such as journalists, writers, directors, designers, and photographers, are called; people who don’t want to stay put but prefer a dynamic and eventful life. Those who do not share this attitude and prefer more quiet and hasteless lifestyle may think that free artists create their difficulties to then overcome them heroically, not even realizing that such life challenges actually form the creative personality and forge the true life core the real art cannot exist without. And who said it would be easy? Learning the biographies of many great artists, we can notice that their life and art did not always go hand in hand and their ways were not always paved with roses, not always were recognized by their contemporaries, and had high honoraria and a positive attitude to life and to the world around them. Not everybody can withstand the challenge of poverty and losses, which are often inseparable from the start of the Great Path, called Life ...

Свободный художник... Понятие, ставшее обыденным

за последние десятки лет современности. Так называют

людей многих творческих профессий (журналистов, писателей, режиссёров

дизайнеров,фотографов), которые не привыкли сидеть на месте,

а предпочитают динамичную и насыщеную жизнь. Многие люди,

не разделяющие такой уклад и привыкшие к более спокойной

размеренной жизни сравнивают их с «китайскими добровольцами»,

которые сами себе трудности создают и потом сами же их героически преодолевают, ни на минуту не

задумываясь над тем, что именно эти трудности, которые далеко не

всегда созданы ими самими, а совсем другими обстоятельствами извне, как

раз и формируют творческих людей, куют истиный жизненный стержень,

без которого любое искусство - НИЧТО. А кто сказал, что будет легко? Опираясь на биграфии многих великих

художников мы прослеживаем тот факт, что их жизнь и творчество

не всегда шли рука об руку... И далеко не у всех путь был выстлан розами признания современников

и поклонников таланта, и, как следствие, больших гонораров и позитивного отношения к жизни

и окружающему миру. Не каждый человек выдержит испытания нищетой

и лишениями, которые часто бывают неразлучны с началом Огромного

Великого Пути под названием Жизнь...

I studied under A. V. Gidirimskov, a talented advertising photographer.In 1992, I opened my own studio in the center of Moscow.I have got several prizes at national and international exhibitions (United States and UK)Many of my works can be found in private collections and galleries in Russia, France, Great Britain, Germany, USA, Portugal and other countries.I am a member of the International Federation of Artists (IFA), the creative Union of Artists of Russia and the guild of Advertising Photographers in Russia.The complexity and multifacetedness of photography as an art allows me to realize the widest range of concepts. It is always interesting to find something new and unusual, to try new techniques, to make each next photograph different from the previous one. It is not that interesting when people can look at a photograph and say “yes, I know who had taken it”. It is interesting when people stop at a work to read who the author is. I like to make people stop by my work to open new emotions and thoughts to them. Photography is light painting, and nothing is more interesting than painting with light. In modern era of digital technology people began to forget that we can create with our hands; but this is so pleasurable - to create, to look, and to show your work to others. This is why I do not use computer in my work.

Неоднократный победитель множества Российских и зарубежных выставок

(США, Англия). Многие работы находятся в частных

собраниях и галереях России, Франции, Англии, Германии,

Португалии и других стран. Член Международного союза художников

(IFA), Творческого союза художников России, Гильдии рекламных

фотографов (Россия).Сложность и многогранность такого вида

искусства, как фотография, позволяет мне реализовывать самые различные

замыслы. Всегда интересно найти что-то новое, необычное, поработать в разных

техниках, сделать так, чтобы последующая фотография не была похожа на

предыдущую. Неинтересно, когда говорят: «Да, это снимал тот-то». Интересно,

когда останавливаются у работы, чтобы прочитать, кто это снял. Хочется увлечь

людей своей работой, открывать им новые эмоции, мысли…. Фотография - это светопись, нет ничего интереснее, нежели

рисовать светом. В эпоху цифровых технологий мы начали забывать, что такое

- создавать руками, а это так приятно: создать, посмотреть и показать другим.

Поэтому в своей работе компьютер не использую.

Sergey Pomadchin was born in Moscow. What does photography mean to me? Is it the interplay of light and shadow? Or the irregularity of natural forms? Is it the reflection of a frozen moment of life? Or is it all of the aforementioned in unison? It’s hard to answer unequivocally…I have started taking pictures a long time ago having read an old book, with its cover missing, named 25 Lessons in Photography. The book described in plain words the exposures and diaphragms, depth of field, etc. I desperately wanted to try this in reality. I photographed, of course, onto film using the cameras that I could afford. At that time I’ve learned to determine exposure without an exposure meter, and also to vary my depth of field. These skills would prove to be of immense value later on, therefore that this was not a wasted time in my life.When digital photography began to approach film quality, and became more affordable, I remembered my old passion. I began to take pictures much more consciously, in most cases knowing what I wanted to achieve. To tell the truth, however, I did not always get what I had conceived. Eventually, the opportunity to engage in micro photography arose. Some of the images in the micro world are not visible to the naked eye. But it’s so wonderful to examine them afterwards on a monitor, or better yet, on paper. People often ask, “Where did you see that, and how did you notice it? You probably went somewhere.” If fact, most of my pictures are taken on my summer house. I just walk around, carefully observing everything. Occasionally, I notice something interesting.So, what is photography to me? Probably it is an image skewed through the prism of consciousness.

Меня зовут Сергей Помадчин. Что для меня фотография? Игра света и тени? Неповторимость форм, созданных

природой? Отражение «остановленного мгновения» жизни? Или все это вместе взятое? Трудно ответить однозначно... Я начал фотографировать довольно

давно, после того, как прочитал одну старую книгу без обложки, которая называлась

«25 уроков фотографии». Книга в доступной форме объясняла, что такое экспозиция,

диафрагма, глубина изображения... И мне отчаянно захотелось посмотреть, как

все это действует на практике. Я снимал, разумеется, на пленку, пользуясь теми

фотокамерами, которые мне были по карману (Shist , FED, Argus-eyed, Zenith,

Vilia). Тогда-то я и научился определять экспозицию, не пользуясь экспонометром, и

свободно варьировать глубину изображения. Позже эти навыки мне очень пригодились,

теперь я точно знаю, что то время не было потрачено зря.

Когда по качеству цифровые камеры приблизились к пленочным и стали

доступными финансово, я вспомнил свое старое увлечение. Я начал фотографировать гораздо более осознанно, все чаще понимая,

чего именно я добиваюсь. На самом деле у меня, конечно, не всегда получалось то, что

я задумывал. В конечном счете, появилась возможность заняться микрофотографией. Некоторые изображения в микро-мире не видны невооруженным глазом. Но как же

здорово разглядывать их потом на экране монитора или, того лучше, на бумаге!

Люди часто меня спрашивают: «Где ты это увидел, как сумел заметить? Ты,

наверно, куда-то специально ездил»... Хотя, фактически, большинство моих фотографий

были сделаны у меня на даче. Я просто хожу, внимательно наблюдая за всем, что

происходит вокруг. И иногда замечаю что-нибудь интересное.

Так что же такое для меня фотография? Может быть, это изображение, пропущенное

через призму сознания...

I am a self-taught artist. The evolving nature of my study includes interest in the figurative sculpture traditions of the past, as well as the study of contemporary art of self-expression. For many years my interests in mythological and historical narrative found expression in my work. My sculpture is predominantly made from polymer clay, metal and decorated with oils, acrylic paint, gold and other metal lief, and mixed media. I like to combine seemingly discordant salvaged objects in my work and fuse different materials together. I like to accent elegant, porcelain like texture of polymer clay with robust roughness of salvaged metal, or with peace of weathered wood.The focus of my practice is the study of the human form through drawing and sculpture. My inspiration comes from art, books, and from experiences I ‘ve had. Some of my work references figurative work from the past in both form and content. The details in my work are very important to me because it requires concentration, and mental focus, thus challenging my skills as a sculptor and painter. In my work I try to create accessibility and detail that would invite the viewer to become part of the scene, and to elicit a story.

Я художник-самоучка. Эволюционный характер моего исследования

включает в себя интерес к образной традиции скульптуры прошлого, а также изучение современного

искусства самовыражения. На протяжении многих лет мои интересы

в мифологические и исторические повествования нашла свое выражение

в моей работе. Моя скульптура преимущественно из полимерной

глины, металла и украшена масла, акриловая краска, золота и других

металлов охотно, и смешанных средах. Я люблю сочетать казалось бы,

противоречивые спасенных объектов в моей работе и предохранитель

различные материалы друг с другом. Мне нравится, чтобы акцентировать

элегантные, фарфор, как текстуры из полимерной глины с надежной

шероховатости спасти металла или с миром выветривания древесины.

Основное внимание в моей практике является изучение человеческой

форме посредством рисования и скульптуры. Мое вдохновение

приходит от искусства, книги, и из опыта у меня были. Некоторые из моих

Подробнее в моей работе очень важно для меня, потому что она

требует концентрации и умственной концентрации, тем самым сложным

The focus of my practice is the study of the human form through drawing and sculpture. My inspiration comes from art, books, and from experiences I ‘ve had. Some of my work references fi gurative work from the past in both form and content.

Having visited United States the fi rst time and being under the impression of what I had seen, I wrote a series of articles, essays, and poems about America, which were later published in Azerbaijan mass media. A year later I was back again in the U.S. and, because of circumstances, was working as a cook. In my archive, which I had brought with me, there were poems, short stories and an unfi nished novel about youth. It was enough material for publishing several books later. It was in 2010 when I had a feeling that I should create something I can leave to my children and maybe to other people as well.I decided to try myself in painting and did my fi rst still life with fl owers using acrylic paint applied to paper. I liked the way how drawings appeared under my brush. The central point of my work is usually an object that attracted my attention in terms of composition, color and size; and I transfer it to paper. I had not used oil paints yet, but I think if I had tried, I would be good with it too because I think that acrylic paint technique is much more complicated.During the fi rst three months, I drew two dozen pictures. I’ve never had a teacher who would mentor and guide me. My family welcomed my initiative, and my wife fully shared my passion. And now I’m alternating painting and poetry, in which I consider myself successful as I had begun to publish in Russian newspapers and magazines in the United States.

Побывав первый раз в США, находясь под впечатлением от увиденного,

я подготовил ряд статей, очерков, а также стихов об Америке,

которые позже были опубликованы в печати Азербайджана.

Через год я вернулся в США. Обстоятельства вынудили меня работать

поваром. Я не приступал к разборкесвоего архива, который включал в себя

стихи, поэмы, рассказы и незаконченный роман о юношестве.

В конечном счёте, их хватило на несколько изданий книг.

Так продолжалось до 2010 г., когда наступило настоятельное

виденье оставить после себя что-то своему потомству, а может, если оно

интересно, и другим.Я решил попробовать свои силы в рисовании, написав первый в своей

жизни натюрморт с цветами. В работе я пользовался акриловыми красками,

нанесёнными на бумагу. Мне нравилось, как из-под моей руки

стали появляться рисунки. В моей работе меня интересовал объект, который привлекал моё

внимание с точки зрениякомпозиции, цвета и размера. Я это

переносил на бумагу. Я не пользуюсьмасляными красками, но думаю, если

приступил к таковым, у меня тоже бы получилось. Так как пользоваться

акриловыми красками намного сложнее. В течение первых трёх месяцев я

нарисовал два десятка картин. Я никогда не имел учителя, который бы направлял

меня. Моя семья приветствовала моё начинание, а моя жена полностью

разделяет моё увлечение. И теперь я чередую рисование с поэзией, в которой,

мне кажется начинаю преуспевать, начав печататься в русских

газетах и журналах США.
