CharactersThe character on the front cover portrays the typical conventional indie image. By having a rough boy look with the cigarette in his hand gives the impression to the audience of the anarchic representation. As smoking is linked with relieving stress it implies the working class background, and iconic with younger generation. Although the smart white shirt that he is wearing portrays that he is on a night out. His facial expressions look arrogant which suggests the typical rock and roll indie character.

Narrative EventsThere is a clear narrative on this digipack. The front cover image creates the stereotypical indie image, although the back cover challenges the convention by having the gentlemen cover his eyes by implying that he is crying, or furthermore tired as he has been up all night partying. This gets enigma to the audience by wondering what is going on in his life. By covering his faces it contrasts against the aggressive arrogant character we see on the front cover.

IconographyThe CD itself is displayed with used cigarettes which give off the negative theme of drugs and alcohol. This is iconic and follows the stereotypical indie theme, linked with the rock and roll image. On each image of the character, it portrays the physicality of the care free party attitude. With the characters rough look, it follows the conventional artists such as Jake Bugg and Noel Gallagher.

SettingWith minimal setting, it gives enigma to the audience which helps them create their own story for this front cover. Following the rock and roll theme, I would suggest that this character is in a photo booth due to the high key lighting that would be caused by the flash. To add to that, this can relate to why the character has squinty eyes, or on the other hand could be the smoke from the

cigarette from being in a confined space.

Technical and audio codes The basic simple text meets with the whole theme and image, which doesn’t take any distraction away from the main focus. The black and white colours are very retro which calls the classical rock and roll front. Too add to that it is also dark and distressing to the characters story with the colours that are used.
