Mission
Articulation has been established with the purpose of providing an exhibition venue to emerging visual artists and nurturing this young talent pool. The organization focuses on scouting and identifying artists with exciting and original ideas and “beats” and nurturing them, and introducing them to a broad audience base, in the process also exposing the target audience to high potential new talent. The concept, much like the artists it showcases, has a high degree of experimentation embedded in its culture
Operating Model for Funding
• Foundation endowment• Massachusetts cultural council
grants• Membership fees• Income from renting the
gallery for corporate events• Tickets sale from monthly
salon events, featuring notable speakers from the art word
• Additional fund-raising initiatives
Spatial Relationship
The office is responsible for funding, event and exhibition management, and talent development. The retail space includes the gallery and a coffee shop
Design KeysCourtyard• Floor plan anchored around courtyard as the centerpiece of the design• Central courtyard has a light-filled atrium that distributes daylight evenly across the
space• Circulation paths have been carved out in the middle of the square, creating four
equal quadrants that are used for seating and as a service station
Art Gallery• Gallery wraps itself around the courtyard and the circulation path in the middle divides
the gallery into four quadrants, enabling four semi-independent gallery show spaces
Other Space• The main entrance leads to the lobby and reception area which provides access to the
coffee shop, art gallery, and to the second floor

• Amplifying the essence of the brew, the Robusta coffee bean, this coffee shop will serve as a popular gathering place for visitors and staff, and to that end has been designed with comfortable and inviting seating
• The atrium fills the space with natural light during the day, and creates an attractive ambience for corporate cocktail events
• Pathways carved in the middle of the square and demarcated with a different floor finish (polished concrete) from the rest of the floor have store front doors on all four sides for convenient entry and exit
• Color palettes are warm to reinforce and accentuate the relaxed atmosphere and conversational setting of the coffee shop
