Hayao Miyazaki was born in Japan in 1941. He grew up during World War II, which later in�uenced his art. Miyazaki fell in love with manga and anime, a Japanese style of comics and animation. He has worked in animation for over 40 years. In 1985, he opened his own animation studio called Studio Ghibli. He created many �lms such as My Neighbor Totoro, Kiki’s Delivery Service, and Spirited Away. In 2008, Miyazaki teamed up with Disney to release the movie Ponyo.
