Oversee more than 10000+ students in 27 departments or standalone programs including the Center for Marine Science 450+ full-time faculty 250+ part-time faculty and staff and ~$80-100M annual budget CAS is nearly 23 the size of UNCW in terms of faculty and student credit hours The college is comprised of 39 undergraduate degree programs 21 Masters programs seven post-baccalaureate certificate programs and two Ph D programs

In addition to responsibilities as the chief academic administrative and fiscal officer of the college (see below) oversee and provide strategic direction and coordination of all marine science activities including the Center for Marine Sciences Finfish Aquaculture Facility Shellfish Research Hatchery and academic and research portions of Marine Biotechnology Research Center Center for Marine Science also


houses National Estuarine Research Reserve Program Drone Operations Undersea Vehicles Program Coastal Ocean Monitoring and Research Program numerous research vessels and various state-of-the art core instrumentation facilities

Implemented data-informed resource allocation to units and focused on data analytics to inform classroom and curricular needs for students

Focused on student recruitment and retention at undergraduate and graduate levels

Developed a Strategic Plan for the College and aligned resources to meet institutional priorities Currently realigned $2-3M annually to meet these strategic initiatives

Emergency Operations With recent hurricane Florence UNCW campus had significant damage to various buildings Coordinated and oversaw operations to relocate samples research spaces labs and classrooms from a science building to other locations (process ongoing) The biology and chemistry building had to be closed for total renovation Oversaw planning to accommodate classes faculty research labs and plan for short- intermediate and long-term needs of chemistry and biology programs

Created a new associate dean position to head the establishment of a Student Success Center in the college that focuses on student success especially applied learning and high impact practices

Collaborated with other deans and initiated and implemented a ldquoScience Technology Engineering Arts and Mathematics - STEAMrdquo camp for underserved- and under-represented students

Initiated and implemented a ldquoVisiting Scholarrdquo program focusing on the Arts and Humanities
