Use BBB Analytics to learn how consumers find you on the BBB Accredited Business Directory. Tracking referrals, leads, and inquiry locations help you strategize and unlock your business’s marketing potential.

This handy guide explains some of the elements of BBB Analytics and how they help optimize your BBB Business Review.

How to Access BBB Analytics

Step 1: Log in to your BBB Business Login

Step 2: Find the BBB Analytics link on the left side bar on your BBB Login Homepage

BBB Business Review Activity Displays how many views your BBB Business Review has received over the last 12 months.

What are Consumers looking at on your BBB Business Review? Breaks down what sections of your BBB Business Review consumers view most. Make sure customers don’t miss important information about your company. Update your Business Review with the most current information.

Referrals, Leads & Mentions Shows how many leads and quote requests generated by your BBB Business Review. Referrals are generated by people clicking on the Dynamic BBB Seal on your website.

Accredited Business Directory Activity View how active your BBB Business Review has been over the last 12 months. Increase your views by promoting your BBB Business Review on your site through the Dynamic Seal, on social media and in your marketing materials.

Inquiries by Location Showcases inquiries about your BBB Business Review geographically. This is a useful tool when considering targeted marketing and what other steps your business can take to increase sales.

Business Review by Inquiries by Industry Your business may fall into several industry categories or TOBs (Type of Business). BBB Analytics displays the amount of views your business received through searches in a specific TOB associated with your business. This information is critical in understanding what services are in high demand and how your business can address those needs in the marketplace.

How to reach a new and younger generation of employees

Hiring Millennials in the Workforce

Whether you are a small business owner, entrepreneur or manager, you probably interact regularly with millennials in the office or industry. Generation Y is now grown up and entering the workforce with college degrees and thorough resumes.

As of May 2015, millennials are the largest group of workers in the U.S. labor force, according to the Pew Research Center. More than 1 in 3 employees today are adults ages 18 to 34. A significant portion of this generation are 18 to 24-year-olds looking for part-time jobs while in school or full-time jobs fresh out of college.

As a business owner, many of your employees likely fall into this category. Millennials are generally tech savvy and proficient with social media. As more businesses use social media as a way to reach their consumers, hiring millennials is an asset because they are often early adopters of new technology and can help inform your marketing plans when trying to reach this demographic.

In the workplace, millennials thrive in a structured environment, appreciate stability and are typically team-oriented. Because millennials grew up in the digital age and are proficient with social media and mobile devices, they are good at multi-tasking and cross-media marketing.

If your business is seeking to hire millennials, market to millennials or currently work with this generation, Better Business Bureau has tips on how to reach this demographic:

Create social media accounts. Social media is a great tool to use to reach your customers, interact and compete with competition and market to millennials. Facebook is a free website and a way to advertise your services, products and brand. Social media allows you to be “in the know” of the latest trends, news and the needs and wants of the consumer. BBB also recommends businesses upload photos and videos on their social media accounts.

Communicate on a personal level. When it comes to work, millennials want a relationship with their boss and respond well to personal attention. When managing this group, consider mentoring them and set formal meetings. Two-way dialogue is important to millennials, and gives them an opportunity to share ideas face-to-face.

Got mobile? Not having a mobile device is rare today, and it is hard to reach millennials without some form of this technology. Millennials spend more time on smart phones than any other platform. Make sure your website is easy to navigate and mobile-friendly or uses responsive design.
