Having begun in 1876 as S.T. Cooper & Sons, the company that would become Jockey In ternat ional , Inc. rose to in ternat ional popular i ty in the 1930s and 40s as the wor ld was drawn to Amer ican icons and s ty les. Along wi th movies, automobi les, and skyscrapers, there was fascinat ion wi th the revolu t ionar y Jockey® shor t – a comple te ly new s ty le of underwear inspi red by a French pos tcard showing a man in bik in i s ty le swimwear.
In i t ia l ly Jockey crossed in ternat ional borders in adver t i s ing, par t icu lar ly wi th ads in L i fe magazine, which launched wi th great success in 1936. L i fe a t t rac ted readers th roughout the wor ld and i t wasn’t long before sa les of Jockey® product were tak ing place in Canada, throughout Europe, India, the Phi l ippines, and Aus t ra l ia. By the mid-1950s, the Jockey® brand was of fered in so many markets around the wor ld that the company launched a global market ing campaign themed “An in ternat ional favor i te” – a unique c laim that on ly Jockey could make. Recogniz ing the impor tance of the Jockey® name and i t s s igni f icant in ternat ional presence, the company of f ic ia l ly changed i t s name in 1972 to Jockey In ternat ional , Inc.
Today Jockey cont inues to be so ld in over 120 count r ies and is one of the wor ld’s bes t loved and most recognized brands. In th is spi r i t , we br ing you the INTERNATIONAL COLLECTION. Neben F i lmen, Autos und Wolkenkratzern faszin ier ten damals auch die revolu t ionären Jockey® Shor ts – eine völ l ig neue Ar t von Unterwäsche, inspi r ier t von einer f ranzösischen Pos tkar te, die einen Mann in einer Badehose zeigte.
Anfangs überwand Jockey Ländergrenzen durch Werbung, insbesondere durch Anzeigen im L i fe Magazine, das 1936 mi t großem Er fo lg herausgegeben wurde. L i fe erober te eine wel twei te Leserschaf t und es dauer te n ich t lange, bis Jockey® Produkte in Kanada, Europa,
Indien, auf den Phi l ippinen und in Aus t ra l ien verkauf t wurden. Mi t te der 50er Jahre des le tz ten Jahrhunder ts wurde die Marke Jockey® in so v ie len Ländern der Wel t angeboten, dass das Unternehmen eine globale Market ingkampagne unter dem Mot to “An In ternat ional Favor i te“ s tar te te – ein einzigar t iger S logan, wie ihn nur Jockey prägen konnte. Da man die Bedeutung des Namens Jockey® und dessen in ternat ionale Präsenz erkannte, änder te das Unternehmen seinen Namen 1972 of f iz ie l l in Jockey In ternat ional , Inc.
Heute wird Jockey in über 120 Ländern ver t r ieben und is t e ine der bel iebtes ten und bekanntes ten Marken der Wel t . In diesem Sinne präsent ieren wir Ihnen die INTERNATIONAL COLLECTION.
