Renaissance Movement in England.

b) Write a short essay on the Elizabethan

sonnet sequences.

c) Attempt a critical appreciation of

Shakespeare’s Sonnet 144.

d) Bring out the elements of the Renaissance

and the Reformation in Milton’s Lycidas.

e) Do you consider Macbeth to be a typical tragic hero ? Discuss with illustrative references from the text.

f) Discuss the salient features of Bacon’s prose style with reference to the texts in your syllabus.

a) Assess the contribution of the Humanists to the Renaissance in England.

b) How does Shakespeare use dramatic irony in Macbeth ?

c) What is the significance of the opening soliloquy in Marlowe’s Dr. Faustus ?

e) Discuss the Trial Scene in The Merchant of Venice.
