BAC proudly operates one of the most successful helicopter pilot training schools in South Africa. The aim of the training school is to produce industry-‐leading pilots, proficient in a variety of different helicopter operations and flying environments. The greatest benefit to the company is that the pilots trained by BAC go on to fly for BAC on completion of their Commercial Licenses. These pilots are nurtured, monitored and guided through their training and early working environment until they qualify for our high-‐skills pilot positions. From a safety perspective, this eliminates the uncertainty factor when employing staff as these pilots; their skills, capabilities, habits and characters are well known and trusted. The flight school training helicopters include a selection of Robinson 22 and Robinson 44 Raven II aircraft. The BAC fleet also includes Bell 206, 206L, Hughes 500 and AS350 aircraft that can be used for advanced training and pilot endorsement. The BAC Flight Training Course is a one-‐on-‐one programme where every student receives individual attention from the instructor throughout the course. Ab Initio Training begins with the basic concepts of helicopter aerodynamics and continues on a step-‐by-‐step basis through the practical and academic syllabus required to achieve flying goals. The school is ideally set up for in-‐house advanced training for all BAC’s pilots. The full time ground school offered at the Training Academy consistently produces outstanding academic results from the students.
Courses offered at the Training Academy:
• Private Pilots License (PPL) • Commercial Pilots License (CPL) • Turbine Rating • Night Rating • Instrument Rating • Instructors Rating • Sling Rating • Advanced Training • Mountain Training

BAC Aviation BAC Aviation, formerly the aviation wing of heavy equipment manufacturer Bell Equipment, was founded on helicopter maintenance. Established in 1988, AMO115 was set up in order to maintain the fleet of MD500 and Robinson Helicopters owned and operated by Bell Equipment out of Richards Bay on the east coast of South Africa.
The BAC Aviation maintenance division employs five engineers with over 80 years combined experience in the aviation industry. Our engineers have undergone factory maintenance and overhaul courses with Robinson Helicopter Company, MD Helicopters and Textron Lycoming.
BAC Aviation is an authorised service centre for Robinson Helicopter Company and MD Helicopters. The maintenance division offers component overhauls, new spare parts, complete helicopter overhauls, repairs and rebuilds as well as general maintenance such as mandatory servicing, problem troubleshooting and service bulletin compliance work on various helicopter types. BAC is a market leader in helicopter and component maintenance, spare parts supply and helicopter sales and has an enviable reputation within the industry, being regularly selected to perform third party maintenance on aircraft from other helicopter operators.
In 2010 BAC Aviation was appointed as the official South African agent for USA based, Power Flow Systems Inc. The company manufactures performance enhancing after-‐market tuned exhaust systems for a range of fixed wing aircraft and has recently launched a system for the Robinson R22 Beta. This is the first system developed by the company for a helicopter and has a substantial impact on the power produced by the Beta model. Power Flow Systems has over 3700 exhaust systems running in the aviation industry worldwide and is beginning to make a real impact in the helicopter industry.
