- We understand the role of sport in promoting
health and physical activity
- Therefore Health and Physical Activity are integral
components of this degree (Both biophysical and
sociological)
What makes this degree unique/different
compared to ones at other unis?
- We like to think of this degree as sitting in between a Human Movement degree and a Recreation and Leisure degree offered elsewhere
- This is the only degree in South Australia that uses sport as its central point of focus around which learning occurs with and through.
- An important part of this degree is Flexibility to enable students to choose a pathway that they will enjoy leading to the type of employment (or education!) they desire
How is the degree taught?
- It is an on campus degree with in class lectures, tutorials and practicals
- Lectures are recorded and can be viewed externally although tutorials and pracs will be compulsory
- There is one topic (Sport Psychology) that can be accessed through Charles Darwin University through their online portal
- More of these topics will be offered in the future as we develop our relationship with CDU

Netball SA, Cricket Australia etc)
- External agencies such as ACHPER, SANFL, DECD, Health
SA have been approached to be in the course advisory

- There is a student placement topic at a site of students’ choice
where they will have an extended placement and report back
through formal assessment items
Jobs
- We provide the opportunity to engage in a range of topics
- The degree is what the student wants to make of it and how
they tailor to their needs (ie flexible pathways)
- The degree could lead to roles with International agencies
