There's no greater frustration then losing data, all that time you

have spend leveling and gathering stuff" and due to an error

its all""lost"

That's why it's recommended that you backup your data"

After a day of playing I always backup, so in case of an error

I can re-role to an earlier date when all was fine" losing

maybe a few hours of data instead of days"

This guide will show you how to backup and restore your data

using heidisql

If you don't have heidisql, dowload it, it's free"just google heidisql

and you'll be fine"

Have fun with it"and in some cases good luck :-)

Starting up the database#

To make a connection to the database we need to start the mysql.bat first

If you've read my other guides you probably know where to go"

If you still haven't figured this out, you won't be needing any backup

cause you haven't figured out how to get the server running"

Leave the window open"

Exporting the database#

On the dropdown menu, select: Export database as SQL (in this case none other can be selected

so it's pretty obvious you should select this one)

Now we need to select the database(s) we want to backup, in our case this will be the

auth and characters database.

Just click on the empty boxes next to it, till you see the check (see pic. Below)

Now that we selected the data we want to backup, we are gonna write it to disk

We are gonna safe it as "One big file", just set everything as you see above"

Database(s): check create

Table(s): check create

Data: REPLACE existing data

Output: One big file

Filename: well, this can be whatever you like, I always call it: backup- (and date)

so in this case I called it: backup-4-10-2011

Click on the disk next to the filename, a new window will popup, just select a directory

where you want to backup to, In the repack directory structure there's also a directory

called backup, you could put it there" always put it in a place where you can easily find

it again.

Ok, now that we selected the databases and we gave the file a name it's time to export

Just click on the export button on the bottom right"

The exporting will begin, you will know when it's done when the close button can be clicked.

You now succesfully backed up your data"

TIP: Backup everytime you finished playing"(so daily)

Retrieving data (importing)#

it too, here we go:

Select the auth database by right clicking on it, a drop down menu will appear.

Select Drop" (this will delete the auth database)

A window will popup, asking you to confirm this"

Select the characters database by right clicking on it, a drop down menu will appear.

Select Drop.. (this will delete the charcters database)

A window will popup, asking you to confirm this"

The auth and charcters database are gone from the listing.
