Ballard Arms is dedicated to produc-ing the finest handcrafted custom rifles. Aeronautical and mechanical engineers, metallurgist and prototype machinists cre-ate and verify the components of your lat-est project. Our custom firearm staff, some of whom are guild class craftsmen, meticu-lously handcraft each rifle incorporating traditional techniques and “old world” at-tention to detail that makes best quality. In every aspect of your firearms construction we endeavor to achieve the highest level of quality of fit, form, and function.

Each receiver starts its life as a certi-fied, x-rayed steel billet, and is completely machined in-house, as are most parts. The hand selected wood is carved, then shaped and scraped, fitting the metal within mere thousandths of an inch. Only premium tar-get barrels from the best makers are used in our rifles and each contour and chamber is meticulously machined and polished. Authentic bone charcoal color case harden-ing is available for our hand polished metal while hand rubbed stocks of select wood complete the creation process. Sport ing Rif les

Destine for great hunts around the world, the following pages provide a look at the many variations of style and function. These fire-arms are custom balanced and use our high wall action designed by Browning and Mason. Rifles can be chambered in the most pow-erful cartridges available including, the 460 Weatherby. From .17 to .620 bores, military to magnum chose your style, stock fitting preference, weight and wood.

We dedicate this offing to sportsman who dare to hunt the great frontier of Africa. Straight taper barrels of medium weight, typically 8-9 pounds, usually stocked for open sights and quick handling, this rifle ready to work.

African Express

The “across the pond” feeling is exemplified in the Jeffery-Sharps. Straight tapered barrels of medium to heavy weight, 9-15 pounds and stocked appropriately for high recoil cartridges. This rifle features a trap grip cap, special lever, and regulated island, three leaf, rear sight with a banded, hooded front.

Light Hunter

This popular rifle was created for the stalking sportsman and it has to it’s credit trophies from Argentia to Africa. Weighing 6 to 8 pounds, this scoped sporter can be ordered with banded front and open rear sights and a single “set” trigger for target rifle control on long range shots.

These rifles are designed for small game and an easy walk through the woods. Chambering is available for cartridges up to 223 Rem or, any pistol cartridge up to 45 Colt or 44 Magnum. Typical weight is 5 to 6 pounds and set triggers are an option.

The Cresswell This elegant rifle provides the sporting gentleman, or lady, with a reasonable amount of stability in a light weight platform.Rook and Rabbit Stylish rapid taper octagon barrel and straight grip make this rifle especially light handling and quick pointing.

Traditional Rifles

These recreations were patterned after originals, and as such, our parts interchange with those actions crafted over 100 years ago. These are best quality rifles with features and styles appropriate for the time; but fully customizable for the latest in optics and car-tridges.

Standard Sporting The rifle features a straight grip, ebony wedge forend and optional single and double set triggers. Typical weight is 8-12 pounds depending on barrel contour and caliber. See Rook and Rabbit for grip and stock style.

Special Sporting A stylish upgrade, this rifle has a pistol grip with ebony wedge as does the forend. Single and double set triggers are available. Typical weight is 8-12 pounds, again, depending on barrel contour and caliber.

Low Wall

The smaller action allows for a light rifle that many gentlemen may remember from their youth. The top rifle follows the custom form of a German Schuetzen rifle, a popular off hand target shooting sport. Chambered in rimfire and pistol cartridges, single and double set triggers available. Typical rifle weights are 7-9 pounds, barrel contour and caliber governing.

Our Lonesome Dove® rifle commemorates the life of Charles Goodnight, Texas Ranger and rancher who blazed the Goodnight-Lov-ing trail into Colorado. Features include an octagon top receiver and optional special “Lone Star” checkering and single set trigger. Typical weight is 9 to 11 pounds for 30 inch barrels, 7-9 for 24 inch.

New Arrivals

The legendary tool of many hunts, this rifle stocked game with the likes of Courtney Selous and John Taylor. Our ‘pattern” is an original patent era action suitable to house cartridges up to 500 NE with a custom breech block that provides an inline firing pin for modern high performance cartridges. The Farquharson is stocked in traditional British form with flat top checkering and appropriate furniture. This bespoke rifle typically weighs 6-9 pounds, and of course, many options are available.

The original action of this company and it name sake; this long line of rifles was first patented by Charles Ballard in 1861 and later modified by J.M. Marlin in 1875. It has a history from the Civil War to 1900 as one of the finest target rifles ever made. Unique to its design, the falling breech block encloses the entire trigger and hammer group. Open to the back of the breech, this action is best suited to low pressure center fire (black powder) and rim fire cartridges. More than thirteen models had been created, some, as is now, com-pletely custom rifles. Now matter what your passion, from Schuetzen target to Montana buffalo, it is our pleasure to build your rifle.
