Banter Toys & Collectibles has been operating since 1988, servicing mass and specialty retailers in Australia and New Zealand.

The company is the market leader in trading cards and has a growing toy business. Because of its historical trading card relationships, the company is able to offer its supplier partners very broad distribution, beyond just mass retailers.

The company attends all major trading card and toy industry events around the world and exhibits every year at the Australian Toy Fair.

The Banter head office is located in Melbourne, Australia.

As an addition to our team, and in order to really ramp up our strength and presence in the toy market, we have added Ed Medica to our team as General Manager – Toys. Ed is an experienced toy industry executive.

In overall terms, the objective of the Banter team is to provide the best possible service to its major supplier and retailer partners.

Banter Toys & Collectibles has invested in its own Distribution infrastructure, working from the same location as the rest of the Banter team. This enables the company to provide first class, efficient distribution services to retailers, in both the card and toy markets.

An in-house team allows the flexibility to ‘Pick and Pack’ Custom Orders and ensures quick turnaround time

Once picked and packed, all orders are shipped with a reputable freight forwarding service, AXIMA and StarTrack, both of whom Banter have worked with for five years and who know the shipping requirements of Banter’s retail customers

A dedicated, in-house distribution structure is a major investment on behalf of Banter’s retail customers and overseas suppliers. Some other distributors use a third party model. This is a lower cost option but does not provide the level of customer service of a Banter in-house distribution structure.

HOBBY RETAILER DISTRIBUTION PROCEDURE

1. Product sell sheet created

2. EDM is mailed out linking customers to website to order online

3. Follow-up phone call by independent accounts manager4. Order Invoice

5. Invoices handed to warehouse to pack and dispatch within 24 – 48 hours direct to store

6. Weekly phone calls and emails to monitor stock levels in order to maximize sales and build relationship

MASS RETAILER DISTRIBUTION PROCEDURE

1. Submission form to mass buyer

2. Product Pitch to mass buying team

3. Buyer Approval

4. Orders received through EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) system from vendor

5. Stock is packed by warehouse and dispatched within 24 hours to vendor DC

6. Stock hits stores within 5 days of arrival from DC

7. Using the PAD (Product Activity Data) system, our sales & data analyst can retrieve sales and inventory information for the products supplied to each vendor. This information allows Banter Toys to see current Stock on Order, Stock in Transit, which product SKUs are tracking well (daily sales), current Stock on Hand and therefore calculate average sales per week.

All independent stores have access to the online ordering service on the Banter Toys website, allowing quick and easy access to the entire Banter Toys product range to retrieve product information, pricing, and place orders.

New product releases, news, promotions are communicated through weekly consistent e-newsletters, as well as across the Banter Toys Facebook and Twitter pages.

To maximise penetration in the specialty market, Banter Toys has a sales team dedicated entirely to servicing this segment.

This ensures weekly to monthly contact, depending on retail size, to provide product information and receive orders and sell-through updates.

Cartoon Network Launched in Australia in 1995, Cartoon Network offers the best in animated entertainment showcasing hugely successful TV series such as Adventure Time, Regular Show and The Amazing World of Gumball. Seen in over 2.2 million households across Australia and New Zealand.
