  • PERFORMANCE NOTESexplanation of harmonics

artificial harmonics are notated with a diamond on the harmonic node and a normal notehead on the fundamental.

if there is no fundamental, then the desired harmonic is a natural harmonic, and should be played on the designated string (I, II, III, IV)

    abbreviations / symbolss.p. - sul ponticelloa.n. - arco normale

    - snap (Bartok) pizzicato

(as a notehead) - overpressure, between a scratch tone and normal

This piece was written for two great teachers and musicians, Frank Felice and David Murray

if two simultaneous natural harmonics are desired, the bottom string will be designated first(for example, I/II would indicate that the bottom node should be played on I and the

top node would be played on II)

(an arrow in between s.p. and a.n. or vice versa indicates to gradually shift from one to the other)
