The OKC Metro area now has its very own barre3 studio, where the ballet barre meets yoga and pilates®. Studio owners Andrea and Desmond Mason are bringing a unique blend of studio exercise to Oklahoma City’s new Classen Curve Center. The “barre” in barre3 is the same handrail you might see in a dance or ballet studio. The “3” in barre3 symbolizes balance, practice and life. These classes are designed to bring equal bal-ance, strength and flexibility to the body. Sadie Lincoln of Portland, Oregon, the founder of barre3, says, “The com-pany we are building is based on the notion that work is a balanced and integrated part of life.”Andrea Mason hails from Portland, Oregon, as well, where she first learned about this hybrid form of exercise and ultimately began to “crave it”. Mason participated regularly in local classes midway through her second pregnancy and was drawn to the dynamic mom-friendly community barre3 provided. Barre3 workouts are amazing and challenging and “. . . as a competitive athlete, [they were as] balanced and sophisticated as my regular yoga and Pilates practice,” says Mason. The classes are structured around eight minute segments composed of an upper body workout including push-ups at the barre, arms, followed by leg work and an intense core segment and then a cool down that stretches and lengthens the body. The average class lasts 60 minutes, an easy chunk of time to fit into any busy schedule. These classes are highly effective and are designed to lift the en-tire body. This beautiful, spacious studio is over 2700 sq. ft. and fea-tures childcare with a play area where parents can park their kids while taking classes. There are plenty of storage cub-bies for all your winter gear and a shower and locker area
that rivals private country clubs.
As a wife and mother of two, Andrea Mason is passionate about improving the health and lives of people in her community. Barre3 is conveniently lo-cated in the new Classen Curve Center at 5800 N Classen Blvd, Suite #2 right next door to 105Degrees.www.barre3.com/okc
