We enter the stretch in the calendar between Thanksgiving and Christmas. This time of year carries a wide range of emotions, this year, more than any other. For some, it carries the loss of a loved one, a level of stress that can feel overwhelming, a sense of loneliness or isolation, or a fear of the unknown. Yet, there is also a sense of excitement and joy, as we see answered prayers, the continued hand of God in our lives, and the opportunity to gather with family and friends. During this time, it is possible that the temporary cares of this world can cause us to take our focus from the reason we celebrate. God does not intend for us to allow this to happen. Historically, Thanksgiving began as an opportunity for the pilgrims to gather to thank God for His blessings. Thanksgiving should be an opportunity for us as Christians to continue that today, and during this Thanksgiving season, to serve as a reminder of the things we should be thankful for: 1. God’s gift of His Son for our sins, to allow us to restore our broken relationship with Him. 2. The people in our lives: family, friends, those who have invested in us and those whom we have been given the opportunity to invest in as well. 3. God’s presence in the midst of our difficulties, as this shows us His love and care, whether we realize it or not. 4. The many Spiritual and physical blessings God has given us. This year, more than most, it is so important to be purposeful and to take time to recognize all of the blessings in our lives. It is essential to evaluate our lives and allow a reset to appreciate and prioritize what is truly important. It is easy, with everything going on around us, to forget or to lose sight of that. God still loves you and is still in control. He doesn’t promise everything will always be easy, but He does promise to walk our journey with us and to always care for us. Be thankful and always trust in Him. B U C K S N E W S B U C K S N E W S " I N S P I R I N G T H E N E X T G E N E R A T I O N . . . We enter the stretch in the calendar between Thanksgiving and Christmas. This timeof year carries a wide range of emotions, this year, more than any other.

OUR MISSION | To educate the next generation with a Biblical worldview to lead, serve others, and love God.

The truth is that the era of COVID has taken a toll on the financial underpinning of UBCS. As your school board, we are seekingall avenues to address the current budgetary shortfall. Simultaneously, we are looking to build a foundation of sustainable,donor-based revenue for the long term. We are acutely aware that the shortfall cannot be filled by tuition increases - nor is thisever our desire.

We currently use an independent, 3rd party to actively audit our budget, to test expense ratios and to help identify ways to effecta sound financial base. Pastor Josh Scheiderer has taken a position to assist the Board and UBCS as the Director ofDevelopment. This year we have initiated the UBCS Annual Fund to reach out to hundreds of folks who have a connection withUBCS. This includes developing an active data base of our alumni. Community and Corporate based support have been mostdifficult this year given conditions that prohibit personal, interactive contact.

We are looking to focus on just a few annual fundraising efforts that we see as viable and effective for building a long -term, re-occurring source of funding. This is a departure from a reliance on a great multitude of “fundraising activities” the likes of hoagiesales, etc.… where the cost-benefit ratio is negligible.

We thank you for your support, and we welcome any input from you that can be helpful to confronting the current challenges.

I am reminded of the acrostic - TEAM

On October 28, 1980 a presidential debate was held between the then sitting President JimmyCarter and his challenger, Ronald Reagan. In the course of the debate, Reagan refuted anallegation repeatedly made by Carter with a four word response that would become immortalizedas one of the most notable retorts in presidential debates.

With a nod of his head, a smile on his face and a twinkle in his eye, Reagan looked at Carter andresponded with perfect intonation “There you go again”.

More than once, in the last several weeks, you have likely heard from us about the UBCS AnnualFund, EITC (The Educational Improvement Tax Credit which is a State program allowing you todonate and direct your Pennsylvania Income Tax dollars to UBCS) and Walk4Bucks, afamily/student-centered fundraiser having cash rewards, prizes, bonuses and drawings.

When making a statement President Reagan would characteristically hesitate…then begin hiscomments with - Well,…

Well,… with regard to the topic this month, I can hear the echo of Reagan as you say "There yougo again"! You may well be thinking - “All they talk about is money, money, money?" Well,…wehave talked about it – a lot!

I just received the Quakertown Community School Board Winter Newsletter. The front page lead is titled “COVID era challengingfor budgets". The Board cites a 2020-21 budget deficit of $7.2 million and claims - “that all 500 Pennsylvania school districts andthose throughout the country are feeling a money crunch as local revenues drop and state governments may not make up theshortfall “

OUR MISSION | To educate the next generation with a Biblical worldview to lead, serve others, and love God.

Teaching has always been Tim’s life passion. When the opportunity presented itself in theChristian School environment, he felt led to take that passion and help in this important ministryto guide students into life-long learners.

“What we teach is important, but who we teach is the reason we really enter this field,” Tim says.

Having the opportunity to share his passion for learning with the students and growing with themin this academic adventure is why he’s here!

"Christian education to me is a focus on a Biblical worldview in all areas of study. While being our mainfocus, it is important that we discuss other worldviews as they dominate most of the interactions we haveon a day to day basis. This betters our understanding of how others believe and hopefully would lead usto more meaningful spiritual conversation of salvation and our own personal walk."

We are thankful you have joined our UBCS Family Tim!
