    INTRODUCTION

    Human resources are the very critical asset in every

    organization. Today, the organizations must maintain its

    valuable human resources to attain its organizational

    objectives. Employees are main factor of production in every

    organization. To maintain this valuable resources an

    organization is required to many employees welfare schemes

    and other measures.

    Today the main problem faced by an organization is

    related with employees and their welfare measures. Employees

    must be treated well in an organization for meeting or attaining

    the over all objective. Today the employees are mainly concern

    about their security and welfare measures, non availability of

    infrastructural facilities, better working conditions and the like.

    Edwin. B. Flippo, defines personal management or human

    resources management as planning, organizing, directing and

    controlling of the procurement, development, compensation,

    integration, maintenance and reproduction of human resources

    to the end that the individual, organizational and societal

    objectives are established.

    The CEE VEE FOOTWEAR PVT.LTD also faces problems

    related with the management of human resources. This project

    report summarizes and analyzes the human resource aspect of

    the company.

    STATEMENT OF PROBLEM

    The footwear industries are increasing day by day over the

    world. This industries requires a large number of skilled and

    semiskilled workers. Almost every organization faces the

    problem related with the selection and recruitment of

    employees they will suit the organizational requirements. As

    technology is increasing or developing day by day. As a result

    the employees specialized and experienced with these facilities

    are diminishing.

    Human resources are the corner storn in every

    organization. There are a number of employees working under

    the HILLWOOD GROUP of companies. Therefore the company

    must ensure the employees with better working conditions and

    welfare measures to achieve their organizational objective.

    Effective management of human resources are necessary for

    this purpose. Selection and recruitment of effective employees

    and meeting their needs are the important problem faced by

    almost every company today. So the management of human

    resources must be effectively done to achieve the individual

    goals as well as organizational goals. An organization must

    meet the all needs and wants of its employees to achieve their

    objectives. The management of human resources is one of the

    risky and difficult job in almost every organizations.

    OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY

    To study about the organizational structure.

    To study about the human resource management of

    the organization.

    To know about the policies developed by the

    company for their employees.

    To study about the satisfaction level of employees.

    To know whether they face any problem related with

    METHODOLOGY

    For collecting information about the company, mainly

    primary data are used. Primary data is termed as data collected

    at the first time. Primary data is collected by preparing

    questionnaires, conducting interviews and through tele

    communications.

    Secondary data is also used for collecting details about

    the company. Secondary data is termed as data collected from

    available sources.

    A questionnaire is prepared keeping the objective in mind.

    The questions were structured and directed so as to make the

    respondent to understand it easily.

    SAMPLING METHOD

    The sampling method used for the study is random

    sampling method. Choosing only a selected group of people

    from the entire population is random method in this study,

    employees from CEE VEE footwear are selected belonging to

    different category.

    LIMITATIONS

    The period of study is too short.

    Data collection is a difficult problem as the

    personnels are reluctant to provide fair

    informations.

    Restrictions on entering the factory.

    Primary data collection is a time consuming activity.

    It is required to prepare questionnaires and direct

    observation is necessary. So it is expensive.

    Questionnaires covers only limited informations.

    PERIOD OF STUDY

    The period of study is 21 days coming from 13 December

    2010 to 3rd January 2011.

    REVIEW OF LITERATURE

    This study is going through the satisfaction level of

    employees in CEE VEE footwear pvt.ltd.as well as HILLWOOD

    group of companies Calicut with special reference to the human

    resource department of HILLWOOD group. Many project works

    are done in this company related to this area. The reviews of

    Employees are the most important asset of an

    organization. Job satisfaction of employees is helpful to improve

    the organizational efficiency. Efficient and skilled workers are

    very helpful to the running of an organization.

    A study report on 2008 about the functioning of human

    resource department in HILLWOOD, prepared by Anees

    Ahammed, BBA student in Feroke College, Calicut states that

    highly qualified employees are the valuable asset of an

    organization and better performance of personnel management

    is very useful to the smooth running of an organization.

    The study about HRM policies in HILLWOOD, by Anagha,

    pointed that the company was very conscious about the

    importance of human resource development and some

    indicators such as rewards, qualifications, improvements,

    employee turnover etc.shows that HR department provides a

    due consideration on the employees and the total management

    of HILLWOOD gives due importance to training and the workers

    participation in management, to develop human resources in

    the organization and attain high productivity.

    technology. There are very similar units in south India. The

    market demand for such quality footwears are met out of

    supply from manufacturing unit in Delhi. Therefore there is an

    excellent scope for such units in Kerala. The promoters of the

    project HILLWOOD group is headed by V.Shareef has already

    successfully established similar units in Feroke by name CEE

    VEE FOOTWEAR PVT.LTD. The great success of this project and

    inability to supply products as per market demand promoted by

    the promoters to set up a similar new unit and adjacent to

    existing company.

    The unit is located at land adjacent to National Highway,

    Chungam, and Feroke. The land is owned by managing partner

    V.Shareef and his given to the firm on else. The location is deal

    partnership firm with V.Shareef as a managing partner and

    C.P.Najbudheen and C.P Suhara as co partners. They are the

    promoters of CEE VEE footwear pvt.ltd as well as HILLWOOD

    group of companies.

    INVESTMENT REQUIREMENTS

    The working capital requirements works out 75,00,000

    with building, plant and machinery and other equipments

    including mould works 120 lakhs.

    Footwear is estimated to have started its long history of

    human use during the ICE AGE, some five million years ago

    un kind weather conditions are said to have created necessity

    for footwear. Other evidence shows that footwear came to use

    at the end of the Paleolithic period at about the same time the

    early human learned the art of leather training.

    Shoes include athletic shoes (or running shoes), climbing

    shoes, clogs, high heels, marry janes, moccasins, maker

    loafers, tap shoes and cross training shoes, sandals on the

    other hand includes espadrilles, flip fops thongs, slide one and

    slippers.

    INDIAN FOOTWEAR INDUSTRY

    India is engrossed with different civilizations, cultures,

    the prime causes for footwear wearing habits.

    All over the country, different types of traditional footwear

    are being produced to meet the consumers preference.

    In Maharashtra, ordinary chapels with leather soles and

    Gujarat and Rajasthan leather juti and Gujarat nagara, in

    saadi and kisan juti and the ladies variety known as janana

    juti is quite popular. The plain juti type of artistic footwear

    made out of tanned leather has great demand in urban and

    rural areas.

    The second popular pattern of footwear in Punjab and

    Rajasthan is khasida juti or embroided upper juti both the

    states are well known for this variety artistic footwear.

    It is observe that though this pattern is attractive, the

    comfort is lacking because there is difference in the contraction

    of the right or left of the footwear. However those who are

    habituated to wear the local type from childhood do not

    express any difficulty since they do not use any other type of

    footwear.

    In Kerala, Tamilnadu and other parts of the country,

    customers preference for footwear is mostly determined by

    fashion, conformability etc.rather than tradition.

    Indian footwear industry A critical analysis

    In India, the footwear production was in the hands of

    individual or small scale sector. In olden days rural areas the

    footwear made was exchange under barter system. The

    urbanization, mechanization and change in life style have

    demanded for mass production resulted in whole sale and retail

    sales.

    The footwear industry is a significant segment of the

    leather industry in India. India ranks second among the

    footwear producing countries next to China. The industry is a

    IMPORT

    The global import of footwear (leather and non leather) in

    terms of value was around US dolor 43278 billion, accounting a

    share 63.42 % in the total import of leather product out of this,

    import of leather footwear alone accounted for US dolor 26379

    million and non leather footwear US dolor 16899 million.

    EXPORT

    Indias export of leather footwear touched US $ 33/million,

    recording an increase of 3.29 percent over the preceding year.

    India thus holds a share of 1.25 percent in the global import of

    leather footwear. The major markets for India leather footwear

    one the UK, USA, Germany, Italy, France, Middle east and

    Russia nearly 71 % of Indias exports of leather footwear is to

    Germany, UK and Italy. The Indias footwear industry is

    provided with institutional infrastructural support through

    premier institutions like central leather research institute,

    Chennai footwear design and development institute, nodia

    national institute of fashion technology New Delhi etc.in the

    areas of technological development, design and product

    development and human resource development.

    Now a days wearing footwear is a necessity rather than a

    fashion for the human beings. Hence the demand for footwear

    is also increasing day by day. The different classes of people

    using different types of quality of footwears depending on their

    purchasing power. The middle and lower income groups prefer

    used in all domestic condition where as the high income groups

    prefer the latest type of footwear which are highly costlier. The

    first preference of the middle and lower income groups is the

    poly viny 1 (horide PVC footwear) which will satisfy all their

    conditions with regard to the footwears.

    Popularity of PVC chapels is increasing among the people

    and it will lead to the demand for their chapels. As a result

    almost all footwear companies are trying to shift their chapels

    from rubber to the PVC chapels.

    dealers for promoting sales. In this institution, there are four

    different vehicles for the selling purpose. All the function

    related with marketing is under the control of marketing

    manager. Here the products are marketed at whole sale and

    retail basis.

    best product choices to fulfill their needs.

    straws, grasses etc. After getting the quotation, the purchasing

    officer place order to that quotation which offer best terms and

    The purchase department will invite to purchase

    On the receipt of the purchase requisition, the next

    step is to select the supplier from whom materials are

    purchased. The purchase department has to select the

    best supplier in terms of price, quality etc. The supplier is

    selected by issuing tenders inviting price quotations from

    the supplier.

    3. Receiving quotations

    On the receipt of quotations, a comparative

    statement of the quotations received is prepared to know

    the lowest price quotations and best terms and conditions

    Interpretation

    The company provides better working conditions to its

    valuable employees. Employees required better working

    Interpretation

    The company provides required infrastructural facilities for

    the better working of its employees. There are 75 male workers

    and 25 female workers are working in the CEE VEE footwear

    Pvt.Ltd. out of 25 female workers, 20 of them are satisfied with

    the facilities provided by the company. Only 10 % employees

    are un satisfied with the available facilities provided by the

    company.

    From all this we can conclude that the company provides

    due consideration to its employees. Employees are the valuable

    asset in every organization. Only satisfied employees can work

    well for the achievement of organizational goals. The CEE VEE

    footwear Pvt. Ltd undertakes all welfare measures that will

    satisfy the individual as organizational objectives.

    SUMMARY

    This study truly focused on effectiveness of welfare

    measures employed by the company and to know how the

    welfare measures effects on its employees as well as on the

    organization. The labour welfare measures employed by the

    company to its workers are satisfied but much more can be

    achieved by making suitable changes in providing welfare

    measures that will increased not only the productivity of the

    organization but also increase the morale of employees.

    1. It is found that the most of the employees are aware of

    the welfare measures and policy of the company.

    2. The company not conducted leisure programs to satisfy

    the employees.

    3. Most of the workers are satisfied with the safety

    measures undertaken by the company.

    4. Advance incentives plan is provided by the company.

    5. It is found that infra structural facilities provided by the

    company meets the employees requirements.

    6. Welfare measures help the company to increase the

    motivation level of workers.

    7. The company provides training programs to its

    employees.

    8. The products of the company have a well established

    brand image in the market.

    9. The company also their products in GCC in Saudi Arabia

    and UAE.

    10. The selection and recruitment procedure is not very

    wide.

    SUGGESTIONS

    1.Employees have to be given need based training at the

    right time.

    2. Management should take adequate steps for improving

    the quality of supervision.

    3. Provide a reward and recognition for employees

    achievements, it will motivate the employees.

    4. Maximum utilization of resource requirements will

    motivate the employees.

    5. Introduce the proper incentive plan.

    6. The company should create demand in the export

    market.

    7. Recruitment frequency should be maximized to get

    more efficient human resource.

    Interpretation

    The pictorial presentation representing effectiveness of

    the payment system indicates that the company follows a well

    established payment system. Here we can divide the

    effectiveness of payment system on the basis of age group of

    workers. Age group comes under 30 40 range are well

    satisfied with the payment system being provided by the

    company. An employee coming under 20 30 that is youth

    stage are not well satisfied with the companys payment

    system. The senior employees coming under the age group of

    above 50 are 90 % satisfied with the payment system.

    Interpretation

    In this diagram we can see that, in CEE VEE footwear

    Pvt.Ltd, there are employees coming under different age

    groups are working. In this, more than 50 % of employees are

    coming under the age group of 30 to 40 and 35 % are coming

    under the age group of 20 30 and only 9 % employees are

    coming under the age group of 50 and above.

    ACHIEVEMENTS OF THE COMPANY

    Right from the inception, HILLWOOD group of companies

    has taken utmost care to follow good business ethics in the

    business they involve. The company managed not only to

    strengthen the stabilization tendency, which evolved in the last

    several years, but also have substantial achievements in all

    spheres of business they doing.

    Their products are certified ISI from standards

    institute.

    Achieved ISO 9000 2001 from Moody International.

    The bureau of Indian standard (BIS) is another

    achievement which shows the standards of the

    products.

    PLANT LAYOUT

    Plant layout is the physical arrangement of machines,

    equipments and other industrial facilities or the floor of the

    factory in such a manner that they may be handled efficiently

    and effectively. One of the first duties of the project engineer

    will be to develop the plant layout (including the details of

    equipment arrangement) which serves as a starting point for

    many of the specialized design functions; it will also influence

    every other function including process designs.

    The CEE VEE footwear Pvt.Ltd has a well established plant

    layout developed by the project engineer to perform the

    functions effectively.

    INFRASTRUCTURAL FECILITIES

    Infrastructural facilities mean the facilities that being

    given by the company to its employees. It includes machines

    and equipment, house, food, extra payment etc. The

    employees are the main parts of the company. So the

    management wants to consider the needs of the employees.

    The company is located in 2 acres of land. It has sophisticated

    machineries imported from foreign countries. It has a well

    equipped layout for producing products. The up graded

    production capacity of the land is 85 lakhs footwear

    products/year.
