INSTRUMENTATION FINALE FROM THE FIREBIRD SUITE IGOR STRAVINSKY Arranged by MICHAEL STORY (ASCAP) The ballet L’oiseau de feu, or The Firebird, was commissioned and first performed at the Paris Opera in June 1910. Stravinsky later made two arrangements of the music for orchestral suite. This Firebird Suite is arguably Stravinsky’s most popular music, and in the “Finale” he introduces an irregular metric pattern similar to that in “The Rite of Spring,” a style that would later become his trademark.
