Pilot is the highest reading level of Bellwether’s informational texts. The concepts and histories within these titles are explored more in-depth. For vocabulary and content, the imprint’s subjects are more recreational in nature, and students are exposed to a lot of content-specific and upper-level vocabulary. Finally, the narrative nature of the text presents an alternative text type to expository nonfiction.

Epic is designed for students reading around three grade levels below their peers. Its relationship to the standards is very similar to Torque. It offers a wider range of subject matter, content-specific vocabulary, and complementary graphics and sidebars.

Express! is for students excited about arts, crafts, and activities. These titles challenge students to use information gained from step-by-step instructions to demonstrate reading comprehension. The titles are written using upper-level vocabulary and include informational sidebars. The instructional text can be interpreted visually through images and illustrations. This helps explain the order of events or procedures in a very clear and concise way.

Torque provides a wide range of subject matter that is mostly recreational in nature. It expands the offerings to students, broadening their perspective and engaging them with thrilling sidebars and other graphical information. The imprint helps build vocabulary by exposing students to content-specific terms. The narrative openings of many texts also offer readers a change of pace from standard informational texts.

Black Sheep presents high-interest, leveled content using multiple approaches. The graphic novels tell stories through narrative text, character dialogue, and illustrated panels. Fast-paced action fills the panels to teach readers about cause and effect in relation to sequences of events.
