Gibt es ein Geheimnis für schönes Licht? Was ist eigentlich „schönes Licht“ und wie entsteht es? Ist schönes Licht nur eine Laune der Natur oder lässt es sich ein- und ausschalten? Wie wirkt eine bestimmte Leuchte, die im Laden oder Katalog überzeugt, am Ort ihrer Bestim-mung, den eigenen vier Wänden? Schafft Sie mit der erzielten Lichtstimmung genau die gewünschte Atmosphäre? Was geschieht mit dem Rest des Raumes? Ist es hell genug? Das vermeintlich triviale, weil allgegenwärtige Thema Licht stellt sich bei näherer Betrach-tung als höchst anspruchsvolle und vor allem höchst persönliche Angelegenheit heraus. Die subjektive Wahrnehmung des Phänomens Licht lässt sich auf Basis objektiv messbarer Methoden oder mit rein designorientierten Ansätzen nur schwer erschließen. Hunderte von Lichtplanungsprojekten mit immer wieder ähnlich lautenden, grundsätzlichen Fragestellungen lieferten die Impulse, mich intensiv mit der subjektiven Wirkung von Licht auseinanderzuset-zen und diese besser zu verstehen. Die Idee war geboren, ein einfaches, nachvollziehbares Konzept für schönes Licht zu entwickeln. Das Ergebnis ist emotional lighting, ein in seiner Art einmaliges Konzept. Denn emotional lighting ist die erste pragmatische Anleitung, die Schritt für Schritt aufzeigt, wie mittels Licht in jedem Raum positive Atmosphäre geschaffen werden kann.

Is there a secret for beautiful light? What exactly is beautiful light and how is it achieved? Is beautiful light only a quirk of nature or is it something which can be switched on and off? What is the effect, or in other words, what happens to certain light, which is convincing in the shop or catalogue, when it is actually placed in your own four walls? Does it manage to achieve the required mood of light for the exact desired atmosphere? What happens to the rest of the room? Is it light enough? The seemingly trivial, but omnipresent topic of light is actually highly demanding and above all a very personal matter on closer examination. The subjective conception of the phenomenon of light is difficult to decipher. Even on the basis of working with objectively measurable methods or with clear design-oriented approaches. Hundreds of lighting planning projects, all with similar recurring fundamental questions, sent impulses to me to have a good look at the subjective effect of light in order to understand it better. The idea to develop a simple, comprehensible concept for beautiful light was born. The result is emotional lighting, a unique kind of concept. Therefore, emotional lighting is the first pragmatic instruction which shows step by step, how by means of light a positive atmosphere can be created in every room.

C‘è un segreto per una bella luce? Cosa è la „Bella Luce“ e come si crea? La bella luce è solo un attributo della natura oppure può essere ricreata, controllata, accesa e spenta? Come funziona, o meglio, cosa produce quella certa luce che ci convince, in uno show room o in un catalogo, oppure direttamente nel nostro ambiente? Si riesce ad ottenere l‘effetto di luce che crea lo stato d‘animo e realizza l‘atmosfera desiderata?E cosa succede agli ambienti rimanenti? Saranno sufficientemente luminosi?Si tratta di una presunzione banale perché la luce è un tema, ad un esame più attento, molto esigente e soprattutto, molto personale. La percezione soggettiva del fenomeno luce può essere basata su criteri oggettivi o misurabili, ma questi sono metodi puramente progettuali, sono approcci difficili da gestire, sentire, toccare. Centinaia di progetti di design di illuminazio-ne tutti simili tra loro, ed ancora una volta ritornavano le solite domande comunque fondamen-tali da risolvere, domande che mi hanno stimolato a studiare intensamente e ad affrontare meglio il soggettivo effetto della luce.È nata quindi l‘idea, un semplice, comprensibile concetto di „Bella Luce“. Il risultato è l‘emotional lighting, l‘illuminazione emozionale, un concetto unico.L‘emotional lighting è la prima istruzione di pragmatismo che, passo dopo passo, mostra come con la luce può essere creata in ogni stanza per avere una atmosfera positiva .

Die visuelle Wahrnehmung findet auf zwei verschiedenen Ebenen statt. Während wir auf der bewussten Ebene die Dinge und den Raum benennen und zuordnen nehmen wir auf der unterbewussten Ebene nur ein Sehbild wahr, welches lediglich ein abstraktes Abbild der Helligkeiten wiedergibt.

Visual perception takes place on two levels. While we perceive objects and space on a conscious level, on the subconscious level we only perceive images which are only abstract likenesses of brightness.

Le percezioni visive si realizzano a due livelli. Mentre percepiamo gli oggetti e lo spazio a livello conscio, a livello del subconscio percepiamo solo le im-magini che sono una apparenza astratta data dalla luminosità.

Die Wahrnehmung von Farbigkeit wird maßgeblich über zwei Faktoren gesteuert: Ist das Spektrum des von der Lichtquelle ausgesandten Lichts homogen, werden alle Farbnuancen von Gegenständen reflektiert und sind somit sichtbar. Dagegen sorgt ein zerrissenes Spektrum für eine schwache Farbwiedergabe.

The perception of chromaticity is mainly controled by two factors:if the spectrum of the light emitted by the light source is homogenous, all color nuances will be reflected by objects and therefore become visible. While a disrupted spectrum causes a weak color rendering.

La percezione del livello cromatico è principalmente definita da due fattori:se lo spettro emesso dalla sorgente di luce è omogeneo, tutte le nuances di colore saranno riflesse dall’oggetto e quindi saranno visibili. Allo stesso tempo uno spettro disomogeneo genera dei punti di debolezza nella definizione dei colori.

Zum anderen kommt es darauf an, inwieweit Licht gebündelt ist. Wer-den Lichtstrahlen über einen Diffusor wie Wolken oder milchiges Glas etc. zerstreut, werden die von den Gegenständen zurückreflektierenden Lichtstrahlen überlagert und es entsteht ein Schwächung des Farbkon-trastes.

This also depends on how the light is collimated. If light beams are dispersed via a difffuser like clouds or milk glass etc., the light beams reflected by objects will be overlapped resulting in the weakening of color contrasts.

Questo dipende anche da come la luce sia collimante. Se i raggi di luce vengono dispersi attraverso un diffusore come possono esserlo attra-verso le nubi o un bicchiere di latte, i raggi di luce riflessi dall’oggetto si sovrapporranno tra loro dando meno forza ai contrasti di colore.

Unsere Wahrnehmung findet zum Großteil in einem begrenzten Ausschnitt statt, der unserem normalen Sichtfeld entspricht, wenn wir nach vorne sehen. Dementsprechend nehmen wir Licht hauptsächlich in diesem Sichtfeld wahr und nicht an der Decke oder am Boden.

Our perception takes place to a large extent within a limited segment, which corresponds with our normal field of vision looking ahead. Respectively, we will perceive light mainly within this field of vision and not on the ceiling or the floor.

La nostra percezione avviene in larga parte all’interno di un segmento limitato che corrisponde al nostro normale campo visivo che abbiamo guardando di fronte a noi. Conseguentemente noi percepiamo la luce per la massima parte all’interno di questo campo visivo e non sul soffitto o sul pavimento.

A virtual person will perceive of this room as rather dark even though, looked at it objectively, they would have enough light to read a newspa-per, for instance. Since their perception will also extend especially to the unlit next room, they will perceive of this room as dark.

In den unterschiedlichen Phasen des Tages in ihrer biologischen Rhythmik fordern wir unterschiedlichen Helligkeiten ab, um zu einer positiven Wahrnehmung der Raumsituation zu kommen. Während wir uns bis ca. 18:00 Uhr noch in einer Aktivitätsphase befinden und große Helligkeit abfordern, sind wir im Winter bereits um 17:00 Uhr mit Dunkelheit konfrontiert, der wir im Normalfall nur mit einer für die Abendstimmung angepassten Beleuchtung begegnen und dadurch die Raumatmosphäre als negativ bewerten.

During the different phases of the day and their biological rhythms, we demand varying brightnesses in order to get to a positive perception of the room situation. While we are in an activity phase until about 6:00 p.m. and in need of great brightness, in the winter, we are already confronted with darkness at 5:00 p.m. to which we normally react with an illumination matching the evening atmosphere and therefore we would evaluate the room atmosphere as negative.

Die Blendung, die uns im Alltag begegnet, kommt zum Großteil von nicht entblendeten Strahlern, wo der Teil des Lichts, der nicht im Reflektor gebündelt wird als sog. Streulicht in alle Richtungen verstreut wird. Die Blendung wird dann vermieden, wenn Leuchten oder Leuchtmittel bauseitig den Austritt des Streulichts verhindern.

The glare we encounter in our everyday life, to a large extent does not come from dazzle-free spots where the part of the light which is not collimated in the reflector is dispersed as so called scattered light in all directions. Glare is avoided when lamps or illuminants are designed to prevent the emission of scattered light.

L’abbagliamento che incontriamo nella nostra vita quotidiana, in larga misura, non viene da spot quindi la parte della luce che non è collimata in un riflettore viene dispersa in tutte le direzioni.Si evita l’abbagliamento quando le lampade o in genere i corpi illuminanti sono progettati per evitare l’emissione di luce diffusa.

Die Blendung ist die wohl unmittelbarste Beeinträchtigung für unseren Körper. Da unser Gehirn einen Großteil seiner Arbeit mit der Verarbeitung von visuellen Eindrücken verwendet, wirkt die Blendung als unmittelbare Verminderung der Leistung unseres Gehirns. Sie wird in Form von Müdigkeit, Konzentrationsstö-rung und Unwohlsein wahrgenommen, wird aber im Regelfall aufgrund der un-terbewussten Wahrnehmung des Lichts fälschlicherweise anderen Umständen zugeordnet.

Glare is probably the most immediate impairment of our body. Since out brain needs a large part of its energy for the processing of visual impressions, glare therefore acts as an immediate impairment of the performance of the brain. It is perceived as tiredness, disruption of concentration and discomfort but is, due to the subconscious perception of light, wrongly attributed to other causes.

L’abbagliamento è probabilmente il danno più immediato al nostro corpo. Die Familie eines bekannten Sportlers hatte ein Einfamilienhaus aus den 60er Jahren komplett entkernt und mit großem ästhetischen Gespür ausgebaut. Trotz einer sehr reduzierten, streng mo-dernen Einrichtung bekommen die Räume ihre Lebendigkeit über das kompromisslos umgesetzte emotional lighting. Darüber hinaus sind die Leuchten als stark innenarchitektonisch prägende Komponenten eingesetzt.

The family of a famous athlete had completely gutted a single-family home from the 60s and rebuilt it with great aesthetic sense. Inspite of its very reduced, very modern furnishing, the rooms gain their vividness through the uncompromising implementation of emotional lighting. Moreover, the lamps are used a strong interior design components.

La famiglia di un famoso atleta ha letteralmente sventrato una abitazione degli anni ‘60 per ristrut-turarla completamente con un nuovo senso estetico. Nonostante una dimensione molto ridotta ed arredi rigorosamente moderni, le camere hanno acquistato la loro vitalità attraverso la reazione emotiva dell emotional lighting contro questa intransigenza di stile e spazi. Das Restaurant im Castello Govone, einem Unesco Welterbe, war eine der größen Heraus-fordungen, emotional lighting in alter Bausubstanz umzusetzen. Aus Denkmalschutzgründen durften weder die Decken noch bestehende Einbringungen berührt werden. Gleichzeitig sollten aber Lichtszenarien nach emotional lighting möglich werden, die ohne moderne Steuerungs-technik für die Betreiber verfügbar sein sollten. Die grundsätzliche Lösung war dann, das direkte Licht über Reflektoren zu schaffen, die über die Goldoberflächen zur innenarchitekto-nischen Aussage wurden, indem sie die reiche Ehrwürdigkeit des Gebäudes mit der Moderni-tät der Lichttechnik im wahrsten Sinne des Wortes spiegeln.

The restaurant at Castle Govone, UNESCO World Heritage Site, was one of our most challen-ging operations to involve emotional lighting in the interiors of ancient buildings.The imposed limits were to not touch the ceiling and ancient environments, but to create a system allowing us to control the light and create light scenes without using domotic systems.The solution was using reflectors which made it possible to illuminate the rooms with the emoti-onal lighting principles and at the same time with efficient and dazzle-free solutions.Moreover, the reflectors with their gold leaf surfaces paid respect to the richness of the environ-ments, illuminating them, rendering them present and modern.

Il ristorante del Castello di Govone, patrimonio dell’Unesco, è stato uno degli interventi più impegnativi che ha riguardato l’illuminazione di interni in ambienti antichi. I limiti imposti sono stati quelli di non toccare i soffitti e gli antichi ambienti ma di creare un sistema che permettes-se di controllare la luce e creare scenografie senza utilizzare impianti di domotica. La soluzione è stata quella di utilizzare ampiamente i Reflectors, in questo modo è stato possibile illuminare le sale con i principi dell’Emotional Light, ma efficientemente e senza abbagliamenti. Inoltre le finiture in foglia oro dei Reflectors hanno rispettato la ricchezza degli ambienti ma hanno allo stesso tempo alleggerito l’ambiente rendendolo attuale e moderno.

In einem großbürgerlichen Jugendstilhaus wurde eine repräsentative Wohnung grund-saniert. Der ausdrucksstarken, liebevoll restaurierten, aufwendigen Ausstattung mit Fenstern, Böden und den fulminanten Stuckdecken sollte ein pures Einrichtungskonzept entgegenstehen und mit emotional lighting beleuchtet werden. Die Herausforderung war hier, mit den in Altbauten gegebenen Bedingungen wie mittigen Stromauslässen und einer geringen Anzahl an Steckdosen und Wandauslässen zurecht zu kommen.

A representative apartment in an upper-class art nouveau building was restructured from scratch. The expressive, lovingly restored, lavish environment with windows, floors and fantastic stucco ceilings was to contrast a pure furnishing concept and lighted by emotional lighting. The challenge here was to manage with the conditions of the old building as central current outlets, very few sockets and wall outlets.

In uno stile art deco e di alta classe abbiamo seguito il completo rinnovo di un prestigi-oso appartamento. La forza espressiva, sapientemente valorizzata dalla costosa ristrut-turazione, caratterizzata da finestre, pavimenti e stucchi brillanti, dovrebbe essere in contrasto con un concetto puro e funzionale di arredo e una illuminazione con emotional lighting. La sfida era quella di vincere i limiti imposti dalle condizioni dettate dagli edifici sfruttando i punti di alimentazione centralizzati, i punti luce a parete e le prese a muro, senza intervenire sulla struttura.

Das innenarchitektonische Konzept für die Renovierung der Praxis bestand darin, die das alte Gebäude prägenden Eisensäulen mit dem kräftigen Orange sprechen zu lassen und gleichzeitig nur mit Licht und der Farbe Weiß Ruhe und ästhetische Klarheit zu schaffen. Die Schaffung einer für emotional lighting unabdingbaren direkten Beleuchtung war aufgrund der nichtvorhandenen Deckenauslässe schwierig umzusetzen. Die Lichtumlenkung über Reflek-toren war lichttechnisch der einzig gangbare Weg. Die Wahl eines Spiegels aus Blattgold mit dem warmen goldenen Licht schaffte ein zusätzliches innenarchitektonisches Highlight.

The interior design concept for the renovation of the practice was to leave the old cast iron pil-lars defining the old building with their strong orange color and create calmness and aesthetic clarity at the same time using only lighting and the color white. The creation of a direct illumi-nation according to emotional lighting was difficult to implement due to non existing ceiling outlets. The redirection of the light via reflectors was the only way. The choice of a mirror of gold leaf with its warm golden light created an additional interior design highlight.

Il concetto di interior design per il rinnovamento dello studio medico è stato quello di lasciare che il vecchio edificio in colonne di ferro ci comunicasse ancora fortemente la propria esi-stenza, e questo è stato fatto rendendolo dominante, utilizzando un forte contrasto in arancio-ne, creando una chiarezza estetica con la luce e il contrasto con la pace del colore bianco. La creazione di una illuminazione essenziale diretta è stato di difficile attuazione a causa della mancanza di punti luce al soffitto e la riflessione della luce attraverso i riflettori è stata l’unica soluzione tecnicamente praticabile. La scelta di uno specchio in foglia d’oro ha prodotto una calda luce dorata, permettendo di evidenziare ulteriormente gli elementi architettonici interni.

Bei diesem Projekt geht es um eine besondere Ausstellungsbeleuchtung, die von den Musei di Vaticano für die Sonderschau „Die Wiedergeburt der alten italienischen Kunst von Friedrich II. bis Andrea Pisano“ beauftragt wurde. Die Ausstellungsräume befinden sich im überregional bedeutenden Castel Sismondo in Rimini. Die Aufgabenstellung war, eine lichttechnisch professionelle Lösung zu finden, die gleichzeitig den strengen ästhetischen Vorstellungen der Architekten zu genügen hatte. Die Schwierigkeit bestand darin, dass an den Decken keine Befestigungen möglich waren, aber gleichzeitig die Exponate mit großen Lichtmengen in engen Lichtbündeln bestrahlt werden sollten. Ohne größeren Aufwand wurde das Konzept mit Beyond Leuchten umgesetzt, die in ihrer Bauweise für die seitlichen Seilaufhängungen optimal zu verwenden waren. This project is about lighting Exempla “The Rebirth of the Ancient Italian Art from Federico II to Andrea Pisano”, client Vatican Museums .The location of the event was Castel Sismondo in Rimini, a huge palace with great outdoors as well, representing one of the best choice for shows, exhibitions and theatrical performances. The need was to use a technical lamp, but with a look that should be simple and personal at same time, with a high reliability. beyond was a perfect choice because the stainless steel frame allowed to firmly anchor the lamp on both sides of the rooms, not touching the ceiling, yet making it possible to direct the spot wherever needed

Questo progetto prevede l’illuminazione di Exempla, “La rinascita dell’antico nell’arte italiana da Federico II ad Andrea Pisano”, committente i Musei Vaticani Lo spazio scelto per l’intervento è stato Castel Sismondo a Rimini, un luogo che per i suoi ampi spazi esterni ed interni, rappresenta uno dei luoghi favoriti per mostre, esposizioni e spettacoli teatrali. Ein Berliner Paar aus der Filmbranche hatte sich die konsequente Umsetzung von Minimalismus beim Ausbau eines Lofts zum Ziel gesetzt. Das für sie nachvollziehbare Konzept von emotional lighting überzeugte die Bauherren, von ihrer ursprünglichen Idee abzusehen, das Licht so diffus und unsichtbar wie möglich zu gestalten. So konnte mit emotional lighting die atmosphärisch herausfordernde innenarchitektonische Aufgabe gut gelöst werden.

A Berlin couple working in the motion picture industry wanted a consistent implementati-on of minimalsim in the upgrading of their loft. Convinced by the concept of emotional lighting the client turned away from his original plan to create the lighting as diffusely and invisibly as possible. Without emotional lighting, one feels the rooms, atmospheri-cally, would hardly be inhabitable.

Una coppia berlinese del mondo del cinema aveva un obiettivo: creare un loft che fosse una coerente attuazione del minimale estetico. Il concetto di emotional lighting ha permesso al costruttore di deviare dalla loro idea originale, quella ove la luce fosse solo da utilizzare per diffondersi ma essere allo stesso tempo invisibile. Senza emotional lighting questi spazi sarebbero stati purtroppo amorfi, atmosfericamente neutri, tanto da diventare quasi inabitabili.

Das Projekt zeigt wie die Lichtführung über emotional lighting im Vergleich zu vorher dem Raum die vom Bauherren ersehnte Atmosphäre gibt, die wir nur unterbewusst wahrneh-men. Unsere Augen bleiben aber auf die ästhetischen Elemente fixiert, die wir bewusst wahrnehmen und glauben, dass sie den Raum prägen. Das für die Frisöre wichtige funktio-nale Licht auf den Köpfen ihrer Kunden wird nun durch querstrahlendes Scherlicht erzeugt.

The project shows how directing the light the emotional lighting way supplies the room with the atmosphere desired by the client, even though only perceived subconsciously, as op-posed to before. Our eyes remain fixed on the aestethic elements we consciously perceive and believe them to coin the room. The functional light onto the customers’ heads necessa-ry for the barber shop is now created by across beaming reeving lights.

Il progetto mostra come l’utilizzo dei principi dell‘ emotional lighting consenta ai proprietari di questa attività di concretizzare una atmosfera prima solo desiderata. I nostri occhi riman-gono catturati da elementi estetici che noi percepiamo a livello conscio, in quanto ne vedi-amo chiaramente il proiettarsi sulla parete, e crediamo che siano solo questi in definitiva ad illuminare l’ambiente. Ciò che è luce funzionale per i parrucchieri, per vedere bene l’area di lavoro, viene invece prodotto soltanto attraverso raggi di luce diretta.

Die Begeisterung für emotional lighting motivierte das Ehepaar, ihre Räume mit Licht zu renovieren. Neben der von den Bauherren als sehr positiv empfundenen Verbesserung der Atmosphäre, wurde die gewünschte Modernisierung durch die pure Formensprache von Vega und Barra auch visuell erlebbar gemacht.

The enthusiasm for emotional lighting motivated the couple to renovate their rooms with light. In addition to the improvement of the atmosphere strongly felt by the client, the desired modernisation of the puristic forms of Vega and Barra is visually experienced.

L’entusiasmo per emotional lighting ha motivato una coppia a rinnovare i propri spazi utilizzando prevalentemente la luce. In aggiunta alla nuova atmosfera, che ora viene per-cepita positivamente, l’intervento di modernizzazione necessario è stato quello di utilizzare forme pure e la Barra Vega ha offerto per questo anche una forte esperienza visiva.

Das überregional bekannte Restaurant in Salzburg ist in einem architektonisch äußerst span-nenden Komplex aus puristischer Architektur und alten in den Fels gehauenen Stollen einge-bettet. Noch immer wundern sich die Gäste, woher das Licht auf den Tischen kommt, da es dem Lichtplaner auf eindrucksvolle Weise gelungen ist, die Leuchten so platzieren, dass das Licht zu den goldenen Reflektoren unsichtbar und blendfrei geführt wird.

The widely known Salzburg restaurant is situated in an architecturally most exciting complex of puristic design and ancient rock galleries driven into the mountain. As of today, the customer wonder where the light onto their tables comes from since the project designer managed so sensationally well to position the lamps in such a way that the light onto the golden reflectors is invisible and completley dazzle-free.

Questo ristorante di fama nazionale si trova in un complesso architettonico incontaminato nelle vecchie gallerie scavate nella roccia di Salisburgo. Ancora adesso gli ospiti si chiedono da dove possa arrivare la luce che colpisce i tavoli, poiché il light designer è riuscito in un modo spettaco-lare a posizionare le lampade in modo che la luce proiettata sia invisibile e si percepiscano solo riflettori d’oro e luce vivida.

Die innenarchitektonische Herausforderung in diesem Projekt war, das Problem der mit Technik übersäten Decke zu lösen. Während die Einbringung einer günstigen Ka-settendecke ästhetisch nicht tragbar gewesen wäre, hätte eine Verschalung mit Gibs-karton das Budget gesprengt. Die Lösung Licht und Deckensegel in einem starken Deckenbild zu vereinen und damit die Technik zu verhängen, löste das Problem auf kongeniale Weise.

The challenges for the interior design of this project were to solve the problem of a ceiling covered with technical devices. While the installation of a convenient coffered ceiling was aesthetically impossible, a planking with sheet rock would have blown the budget. The decision to combine light and ceiling panel into one strong ceiling design and therefore hide the technical devices solved the problem congenially.

La sfida di interior design in questo progetto è stato quella di risolvere il problema di avere a che fare con un soffitto pieno di strutture tecniche. L’introduzione di un soffitto a panelli quadrati non sarebbe stato esteticamente accettabile, un sistema a carton-gesso non sarebbe stato tollerabile per limiti di spesa. Il problema è stato risolto in maniera ottimale combinando gli elementi luminosi ed i pannelli, che rendono l’idea di un ribassamento, lasciando comunque intravedere l’alto soffitto e concordandosi con le strutture tecniche rimaste a vista .

Die in einem alten Militärkomplex aus der österreichischen Kaiserzeit untergebrachte Zahnarztpraxis ist wohl eines der lichttechnisch anspruchsvollsten Projekte mit emoti-onal lighting. Hier mussten zum einen die notwendigen Kontraste im vertikalen Bereich so dosiert werden, dass sie mit dem leicht aufgehellten, raumgreifenden Dachstuhl harmonierten, und gleichzeitig eine für den Gesamteindruck starke direkte Beleuchtung geschaffen werden. Die Lichtmengen konnten nur mit Entladungslampen erreicht wer-den und die direkte Beleuchtung durch Umlenkung über hochreflektierende Spiegel.

The dental practice situation in an old military complex from the Austrian Kaiser-aera was another one of the most challenging projects for emotional lighting. Here for one, the necessary contrasts of the vertical ranges had to be metered such that they were in harmony with the slightly brightened, space-consuming roof and yet a strong direct lighting was created for the general impression. The light quantities could only be achieved with electrodeless discharge lamps and the direct illumination by redirection via highly reflective mirrors.

Un vecchio complesso militare dell’impero austriaco, che ospita uno studio dentistico, è stato probabilmente uno dei progetti più tecnicamente impegnativi per realizzare emo-tional lighting. Qui da un lato era necessario enfatizzare il contrasto nella zona verticale, armonizzandola con una leggera illuminazione del tetto spiovente, ed al tempo stesso era necessario generare una forte illuminazione diretta che desse l’impressione di una luce diffusa. La quantità di luce necessaria è stata raggiunta solo con l’utilizzo di lampa-de a ioduri dirette su specchi altamente riflettenti.

Das Restaurant wurde komplett von Bernd Beisse entworfen und war als Tagesrestau-rant mit Nightlounge konzipiert. Außer den rhythmisch stark kontrastreichen Lichtstrah-len gibt es keinen Wandschmuck. Hier zeigt sich in reinster Form, wie stark die unterbe-wusst als positiv empfundene Wirkung über emotional lighting erzielt werden kann. Im Keller reichte ein Lichtstrahl an der Wand, um den eher als düster empfundenen Raum zu beleben.

The restaurant was designed entirely by Bernd Beisse, as a day restaurant and night lounge. There is no wall decoration other then the rhythmic, contrasty light beams. Here, it is obvious in its purest form how perfectly the subconsciously perceived positive effect can be achieved by emotional lighting. In the basement, one light beam on a wall was enough to invigorate the room which was otherwise perceived as dark.

Il ristorante è stato completamente progettato da Bernd Beisse ed è stato ideato come un ristorante fruibile a tutte le ore del giorno, ma con un ambiente facilmente adattabile ad una clientela notturna. Non ci sono decorazioni murali oltre al forte contrasto ritmico dei raggi di luce. Qui, nella sua forma più pura, riesce ad essere percepito l’effetto positivo dell’ emotional lighting sul livello dell’inconscio. Nella parte sotterranea un fascio di luce raggiunge le antiche mura ancora visibili, per animare lo spazio percepito mantenuto volutamente più cupo.
