What Makes a Movie Good?

The best movies of all time had something in common that made them the most memorable and the most popularmovies of all time. It was regardless ofcat-egories but dependant on certain factors. So,what is the definition of a good mov-ie? What actually is a good movie? Which movies do you like to watch? Here is the answer.

Everyone watches certain kind of movies. Some prefer to watchromantic comedies, some watch comedies, some watch action movies while some love to watch horror movies. The only reason movies are watched for is entertainment.

Once the reason is known the second step is to find out the how to entertain people through movies. The means to do this are finding a good script, making the storyline, screenplay, good acting and finally the presentation and marketing to let the people know about the upcoming movie.

The most important part of a good movie is how fast the movie goes. The events in the movie shall appear so quick that the audiences should not get time to think about worldly affairs. The mind of the audience shall always be in what’s coming next.

Sometimes the speed of the events is so fast that the audience does not get hold of events and the movie is just a waste of time. The speed shall be bal-anced to make a good movie. A very good story with improper screenplay disturbs the audience.

It is good to learn through movies but the audience are not there to learn. There are schools,colleges and other educational events to make them learn the things. They pay to get rid of stress, get entertained and share fun with their friends and family.

The movies that focus on teachings and preaching often fail to entertain people. Movies that prefer leaving a message over entertainment seldom suc-ceed. To make a good movie it is essential that the audience don’t get time to look at their watches.

The Internet Movie Database (IMDb) is an online database of information related to films, television programs, and video games, includingactors, produc-tion crew personnel and fictional characters featured in these three visual enter-tainment media.It is one of the most popular online entertainment destinations, with over 100 mil-lion unique users each month and a solid and rapidly growing mobile presence.[2] IMDb was launched on October 17, 1990, and in 1998 was acquired by Amazon.com. As of January 7, 2013, IMDb had 2,393,341 titles and 5,010,177 personali-ties in its database.[3]

Ranking (IMDb Top 250) The IMDb Top 250 is intended to be a listing of the top ‘rated’ 250 films, based on ratings by the registered users of the website using the methods de-scribed.[19] Only non-documentary theatrical releases running at least forty-five minutes with over 25,000 ratings are considered; all other products are ineligible.[20] Also, the ‘top 250’ rating is based on only the ratings of “regular voters”. The exact number of votes a registered user would have to make to be considered to be a user who votes regularly has been kept secret. IMDb has stated that to maintain the effectiveness of the top 250 list they “deliberately do not disclose the criteria used for a person to be counted as a regular voter”.[21] In addition to oth-er weightings, the top 250 films are also based on a weighted rating formula re-ferred to in actuarial science as a credibility formula.[22] This label arises because a statistic is taken to be more credible the greater the number of individual pieces of information; in this case from eligible users who submit ratings.

Information About Top 3 The Shawshank Redemption

Logline: The Shawshank Redemption, possibly the greatest movie of both Freeman’s (“Red”) and Robbin’s (Andy) careers (make that one of the best mov-ies overall, ever), is an epic tale of two gentlemanly, intellectual prisoners who show remarkable courage and sustain hope against almost all odds of ever get-ting out of the joint for their old crimes.

Memorable Moments: The epic scene where a just-released, elderly man (James Whitmore)—isolated in his humble New York apartment and missing his ‘home’ in prison (basically, the only life he’d known for decades) —kicks the chair from underneath his feet and hangs himself.

Why People Love It: Directed by Frank Darabont/written by Stephen King, it symbolizes our struggle between the demons that imprison us (quite literally here) and the hope for better-days-to-come—which is all we really have to

cling to in the end.

The Godfather

Logline: Vito Corleone, Don of the Corleone crime empire, assumed the helm of the fledgling family ‘business’ in the 1920s and for almost forty years, built it into a dynasty of wiseguys and ruthless henchmen that would

make Al Capone’s gang look like clergymen. Decades later, though, he must pass the reigns of his empire to a reluctant Son, Michael Corleone.

Memorable Moments: One of the biggest turning points is when Michael Corleone, whose hands are free of anyone’s blood, murders the corrupt po-liceman (McCluskey) and wiseguy Sollozzo from a rival family.

Why People Love It: People and critics generally swear by Godfather fran-chise whenever one of these lists pops up. Plus, how can you dismiss a flick that’s received Oscar after Oscar after Oscar? Performances are

second to none (ever), the riveting score is perfect in all senses, there’s nearly flawless editing, and the scenery is fantasticly well-suited. Best Quote: Vito Corleone (Brando): “I’ll make him an offer he can’t refuse.”

Pulp Fiction

Logline: In a quartet of story lines, two henchmen (Jules and Vincent), a mafia boss (Marsellus) and his wife, a boxer, and a thuggish couple all become entangled in crime and corruption and will, ultimately, realize that their lives are intertwined.

Memorable Moments: Near the end when Jules and Vincent, grabbing some grub at a diner, must deal with a man-and-woman robbery. Epic.

Why People Love It: Perhaps most importantly, it’s a Tarantino flick. That granted, Pulp Fiction is instantly recognizable as a super dark, yet hilarious and eccentric, film icon from the mid-90s.
