Green Phone: (617) 893-0260 Email: [email protected]  Boston Harbor Cruises launches ferry service to the Boston Harbor Islands Boston, MA. – March 24, 2014 –  Boston Harbor Cruises (BHC), the largest commercial vessel operator in New England, will launch ferry service to the Boston Harbor Islands from Long Wharf, Boston, starting in May through fall 2014. “We are thrilled to be running this ferry service under contract with the  Boston Harbor Island Alliance. Just a short fer ry ride away, this unique and pictur esque National Park Area offers beautiful venues for the public to explore all summer long,” said Alison  Nolan, Principal, BHC. “We look forward to sharing this Boston treasure with thousands of visitors,” she added. The fort served as a training camp for Union troops and a depot for Confederate prisoners.

•  Once used as a dumping ground for the city of Boston, Spectacle Island nowstands as a symbol of “renewal and reconnection” with over five miles of hikingtrails and a solar-assisted visitor center.

•  Peddocks Island, also known as Puttock Island, saw over 600 patriot militiamen

stationed on the island in 1776, to guard the harbor against the return of Britishtroops. The site was also home to Fort Andrews and was active in harbor defensefrom 1904 to the end of World War II.
