1 Introduction

Welcome to the Help Manual for Olive Tree Bible Software's BibleReader Application. This manual willwalk you through the requirements needed to install our software, the installation procedure, and thespecifics for using the application.

2 Requirements

Read through this section to find out the System and Memory requirements for the BibleReaderapplication.

2.1 System Requirements

The current version of BibleReader is Version3.68.It supports Palm OS devices running OS version 5.x or 4.xThis version can be downloaded from http://www.olivetree.com/palm/download.php

Version 3.68 does not support:

Sony Clie handhelds (limited support)

Handspring Visor devices

PalmOS 3.x or older

If you have a device using these older operating systems please write us at http://www.olivetree.com/help/ withthe exact type of device you are using, and we will be happy to send you a compatible version of theBibleReader.

2.2 Memory Requirements

The BibleReader requires at least 2 MBof available RAM to install and function correctly. This is inaddition to the RAM required for database files. An average Bible without extensive notes takes about1.5 MB of space in addition to the BibleReader application. For details on memory requirements, takea look at the Sample Memory Usage chart in this section.

How much free space do I have on my Palm device?

On a typical Palm device, this information can be found under either the Delete or Info menus from themain application section on the Palm. This menu will have a "Handheld" (or "Device") and a "Card"section. The Free Space for each memory section will be listed here.

2.2.1 Sample Memory Usage

Below is a list of approximate memory usage for different products used in the BibleReader. Thismemory is separate from the BibleReader application itself, which needs at least 2MB of space toinstall and run correctly.

3 Installation

You can install the Olive Tree BibleReader application and Bibles and references database files toyour device from a PC or Mac computer.

3.1 From PC

Installation from a PC computer to a Palm device.

If the Auto Install file is available

1. Choose the Bible or reference database you are interested in and download the Auto Install .exefile from the website to your desktop computer.

2. When prompted, select either

A) Open or Run, which will install the necessary files directly from the internet to your device.B) Save to Diskand save the file to the Desktop of the desktop computer. Once the .exe file

is on the Desktop of the desktop computer, just double click on the .exe file to begin the Setup andInstallation to the handheld device.

Note: The Auto Install file mustbe executed from the desktop computer, installing it directly to thehandheld will not allow the installation to happen.

If the auto install file is not availableor does not work properly for you, download the .zipfile.

1. Open the .zip file on the Desktop of the desktop computer. You will see many files inside the .zip

file.

2. Create a new folder on the Desktop of your desktop computer called Olive Tree, and extract all the

files to that folder.

3. When completed, open the Olive Tree folder and double click on Install_OliveTree.exe to beginthe Setup and Installation of the necessary files to your device.

3.2 From Mac

Installation from a Mac computer to a Palm device.

1. Download the .zip file to the Desktopof the Mac.

2. Use Stuffit to open the .zip file. Extract the BibleR+.prc file and any database file ending in .pdb

that you wish to install on your handheld, to the Desktopof the Mac.

3. Load these files into the Install Handheld Files feature of the Palm Desktop application.

4. Direct the BibleReader to main memory but the .pdb files can go to the SD Card if you have one.

5. Then do a normal HotSyncto the device.

6. When completed, tap the BibleReader icon on your Palm OS device and go to directly toBibleReader.

7. Then go to Tree > Tools > Libraryto select the Bible you wish to display on the screen.

3.3 Manual Installation

Manual installation of the BibleReader and Bibles and references material database files.

1. Download the .zip file for the product you want to install and Save it to the Desktop of the desktopcomputer.

2. Create a new folder on the desktop of your computer called Olive Tree.

3. Extract the BibleR+***.prc and any database file ending in .pdb that you want to install to your deviceand save them to the Olive Tree folder you created.

4. Open the Install tool for your Palm, and Add these files. Direct the BibleReader to the Handheld, butthe Bibles and other database files can go to the SD Card if you have one.

5. Do a normal HotSync to the device, and when completed open the BibleReader from the mainapplication screen on the Palm. Then go to Tree > Tools > Library to select the text you wish todisplay on the screen.

4 Using the BibleReader

This section details how to use various features in the BibleReader. Topics covered are listed below:

4.1 Bookmarks

The BibleReader allows you to add and sort bookmarks for Bible verses or locations in other texts thatyou would like to return to in the future.Bookmarks are shortcuts to particular locations in a file,and save time in navigating the text.

You can organize bookmarks into categories, sort the order they appear in, add and deletebookmarks, and export search lists to a bookmark file. One bookmark file can hold up to 400reference links. You can have as many bookmark files as you have space for on your device. The sizeof a bookmark file will vary depending on how many reference links it holds.

Note: Bookmark files are saved with the prefix bkm_. The default bookmark list is namedbkm_BibleReader

There are three ways to access the bookmarks:

1. Through the menu: Tree > Tools > Bookmarks

2. By tapping on the Bookmark icon:

Instructions below use the bookmark icon as the access method, but the menu method or the Graffiti

shortcut will work as well.

Bookmark Files

To switch bookmark files:1. Tap the Bookmarkicon. Tap Editin the dropdown list to bring up the Edit Bookmarks screen.

2. Tap File listto bring up a list of all of your bookmark files.

3. Tap the name of a bookmark list (for example, bkm_Biblereaderis the default set of bookmarks) to

select it. Tap Selectto use that file of Bookmarks.

4. Tap Doneto return to the main BibleReader screen.

To create a new bookmark file:

1. Tap the Bookmarkicon. Tap Editto bring up the Edit Bookmarks screen.

2. Tap File listto bring up a list of all of your bookmark files.3. Tap Addto create a new bookmark file.

4. Enter a name for the new list and tap OK. (The name should be 10 characters or less.)

5. Then tap on the new file name in the list and tap Selectto use this as the active bookmark file.

To add bookmarks to a different bookmark file:


2. Tap File listto bring up a list of all of your bookmark files.

3. Tap a bookmark list and tap Select. This now becomes the active list that bookmarks will be saved

to.

4. Tap Done. Now new bookmarks will now be added to the selected list.

To sort bookmarks:

the reference to a different spot in the list. Sortwill arrange the references in order from OT to NT.

3. Tap Doneto return to the main BibleReader screen.

To export a list of search results to a bookmark file:

1. Do a Search for a word or words on the Basic or Advanced Search screen.

2. Tap the Exportbutton and select Export to Bookmark, with an appropriate File Namespecified.

3. Tap Export Nowand confirm the file creation. Tap Done.

4. Then perform the Search by tapping the Search button. All the results will be added to the

appropriate bookmark folder you just created. From there you can edit them to your choosing.

Note:If there is an existing search open in the Search window, following the steps above will export

that search to the specified file.

Adding and Deleting Bookmarks

To add a bookmark while navigating through the text:

1. Have the passage you wish to bookmark at the top of the text screen (displaying as the active

reference in the top toolbar).

2. Tap the Bookmarkicon in the top toolbar and select Add Reference.

To delete a bookmark while navigating through the text:

1. Tap the Bookmarkicon and select the bookmark you wish to delete.

2. Tap Delete referencein the bookmark list, and the reference will be deleted from the list.

4.2 Choosing a Bible or Reference file

To get started using the BibleReader on your Handheld device, you need to Download and Install aBible or other text file from our website. Then, you can open the BibleReader application and load thatsame Bible or text file into the reader.

4.2.1 From the website

There are many Bible translations, Bible Study Tools, devotionals, and other items available fordownload and purchase on our website at http://www.olivetree.com/store/home.php?cat=259. You willneed to install a Bible or other database file andthe BibleReader application itself. If you do not wantto purchase a Bible translation, there are many free versions available for download.

Once you have downloaded a Bible file (or files), install it on your device. You can install multiple Bibletranslations and other items; you are only limited by the amount of available RAM on your device.

4.2.2 In the BibleReader

To open a Bible or other reference text on your device, you first need to open the BibleReaderapplication from the main application screen on your device. Then go to Tree > Tools > Library.Select the Bible or other reference file from the list to load it into the reader. You may also open theLibrary by tapping on the acronym in the toolbar, the abbreviation for the open text.

This will open a cascading library list. Tap the category of book you want to open, and then select abook from that list.

If there are no files in the Library, Go to Tree > Options > Preferences > Extended Memoryandmake sure your memory is configured correctly correctly. More than likely, enabling /Palm/Launcherwill solve the problem.

4.3 Daily Reading

The BibleReader download comes with a Daily Reading schedule that outlinesa method for youto read through the Bible in one year. We have several other reading schedules that are alsoavailable on our updates page, if you would like to try a different one.

As you go through the schedule, there are links to the Bible text - tap on one, and this will open theBibleReader to that passage in the last Bible translation you had open. There are also check boxes soyou can mark off which passages you have read, and keep track of where you are in your reading.

There are two ways to access the Daily Reading Schedule:

1. Through the menu: Tree > Tools > Daily Reading

2. By tapping on the Daily Reading icon:

4.4 Desktop Modes

The BibleReader has six different desktop modesyou can choose from. To change which one youare using, go to Tree > Options > Preferences > Desktop. On this screen, there is a short description

for each desktop, and you can also select which one you want to use. If you choose Sicilian or Classicyou will lose the Tree icon in the upper left corner. Please use the regular menus icon in the Palm OStoolbar or the appropriate menus key in your Qwerty keyboard to have access again to the menu itemsin the Toolbar. If you want to revert to the default Desktop Mode go to Options > Preferences >Desktop and select Gaeta again.

4.5 HighlightingThe BibleReader offers eight different colors that you can use to highlight the Bible text youare reading, as well as the Bold and Underline features. There are two ways modify highlightingcolors and highlight portions of text - the toolbar and the menu.

The highlight information is stored on a per Bible basis as a Bible-xxx-High file in main memory onyour device. Deleting this file from memory will cause the highlights for that particular Bible todisappear all at once.

The Toolbar

The bottom toolbar includes several highlighting colors and highlight erase, acting as yourcustomizable highlighter pallet. You can add/remove highlight colors and other options on the toolbarby going to Tree > Options > Preferences > Secondary Toolbar.

To highlightor erasea highlight on a portion of text, simply select the text to be highlighted/erasedand tap on the corresponding highlight color or highlight erase icon on the toolbar.

The Menu

Set the highl ig hting co lor or feature:

Go to Tree > Options > Preferences > Highlighting. Select the color or feature you want to use (werecommend a good contrast to the text and background colors), and then tap OK.

Highl ight a port ion of the text :

First select the text with your stylus. Then go to Tree > Edit > Highlight. This will highlight the text thatyou had selected with the color or feature you specified under the highlighting options.

Erase a highl ig ht from the text:

Choose the text you wish to remove the highlighting from, then go to Tree > Options > Preferences >Highlightingand select Erase instead of a color. Tap the Highlight button again. Remember to reset

your Highlight color or feature again before you try to highlight more text, as it will still be in the Erasesetting.

4.6 Hyperlinks

Hyperlinks (underlined text) allow you to jump from the text you are in to a location in a differentdatabase or to a new location in the current database. Tapping on a hyperlink in a window will openanother window with the text you linked to. If no text appears in the secondary reference window afteryou have tapped the hyperlink, tap the secondary window to make it active and then go to Tree >Tools > Libraryand load a Bible text in that window. Then retap the hyperlink in the first window. Bibletext should appear.

A number of the items offered on our website include hyperlinks. Below are a couple of examples of

different databases that use hyperlinks. For instructions on how to specify which window a link willopen in, click here.

4.7 Menu Items

This is a brief description of the menu system in the BibleReader, to familiarize you with what thedifferent options do. To access the menus, either tap the Treeon the upper left corner of the top

toolbar: , or tap the "Menu" button that is located on the silkscreen of most Palm devices:

Tools Menu

Library- Displays a cascading list of the Bibles and otherdatabase files installed on your device.

Verse Chooser- Opens the verse chooser screen.Navigate quickly through all the books, chapters, andverses of the current Bible file.

Verse Chooser Options- Select the type of versechooser and the book color scheme.

Verse History- Displays a list of the last ten Bible versesyou have visited during this session of BibleReader.

Bookmarks- Opens the Bookmarks window.

Notes- Opens the personal Notes window.

Search- Opens the Search window.

Search Next- Finds the next instance of the current

search.

Media Center- Currently only available if iLumina MOBILEis installed. This menu option opens the Media Centerwhere you can open photos, videos, and animations thatyou installed with iLumina MOBILE.

Edit Menu

Copy-Copies the current selected text to the clipboard.

Paste- Pastes the current text from the clipboard. (Worksin the Personal Notes window or to Memo Pad.)

Keyboard- Opens the PalmOS keyboard window.

Graffiti- Opens the Graffiti shorthand window.

Highlight- Highlights the selected portion of text.

Highlight Config- Lets you select your highlighting coloror feature, and turn the highlighting display on/off.

Options Menu

Preferences- Opens the Preferences window.

Split Screen- Toggles the number of open windows, witha maximum of 3. If "Max Number Windows" (under Tree >Options > Preferences > Split Screen Advanced) is set to3, then selecting this menu option will rotate the number ofopen windows from 1231...

Toggle Full Screen - Will enlarge the selected window tobe full screen. When selected again, it returns that windowto it's original size. This feature is especially useful when

you are using the Split Screen mode and wish to enlargeone of the windows for a time.

Toggle Strongs- Turns Strong's Numbers on or off. (ForBibles with Strong's Numbers only.)

Toggle Tabs- Currently only available with iLuminaMOBILE installed on the device. This will turn the tabsalong the bottom of the screen on/off.

Toggle Auto Scroll - Turns auto scrolling on/off.

Help Index- A brief overview of how to use the basicBibleReader features.

About BibleReader- Displays information about theversion of BibleReader and contact information for OliveTree Bible Software.

Copyrights- Displays copyright information for all Bibleslicensed for sale by Olive Tree Bible Software that areinstalled to the device.

System- Displays system information, BibleReader buildinformation, memory handling, and font information.

4.8 Navigating

There are several different ways to navigatethe text in the BibleReader. The five main methods aredescribed in this section:

Back/Forward buttonsNumbers Navigate Verses

ScrollingShortcuts

Verse Chooser

You can also use the five-way navigation buttonto navigate the search screens, preferencescreens, dictionary input screen, and the main screen. This is for devices like the Tungsten models,LifeDrive and Treos. If you want to use the 5-way navigation on the main screen, you will need toassign a shortcut to "Toggle 5-way Nav."

4.8.1 Back/Forward Buttons

The Back and Forward can be configured to navigate the active text using several different methods.The buttons are located on the top toolbar in the BibleReader.

The center "" button will open the verse history list, which stores your last ten locations in theBibleReader. The left "" will move you forwardthrough it, acting much like the backward/forward buttons in an internet browser. These buttons areonly available in the Gaeta and Lugano desktop modes.

4.8.2 Numbers Navigate Verses

Numbers Navigate Verseslets you use the graffiti shortcut area to navigate to a new chapter/versewithin the same book you are already reading in.

To activate this navigation method, go to Tree > Options > Preferences > Shortcuts. Check"Numbers Navigate Verses" and tap OK to activate this feature. You can use this method to go to anew chapter:verse, or to a new verse in the existing chapter.

4.8.3 Scrolling

There are four main ways to scroll through the BibleReader text.

1. The scroll bar.The scroll bar has three buttons on the top and bottom of the slider marked "V," "L,"

and "S." When you tap one of these they will scroll the text one Verse, Line, or Screen, respectively.You can also drag the slider on the scroll bar to move through the entire body of text.

2. The five-way navigator or rocker/jog wheel. The preferences for this navigator can be set upunder Tree > Options > Preferences > Scrolling. Here you can set the navigator to scroll by Line/Verse/Chapter/Book/Screen/History.

3. Tapping. Under Tree > Options > Preferences > Scrolling you can enable "Tapping" and specifyhow you would like the text to scroll when you tap the top or bottom half of the screen.

4. Auto Scrolling. Click here for details.

4.8.3.1 Synchronized Scrolling

You can configure the BibleReader so that specific windows scroll together on a verse-specificscrolling action. Here's how:

1. Go to Tree > Options > Preferences > Verse Sync.

2. Select Lead/Followfor the windows you want scroll together

Note:Synchronized scrolling will only work when you do verse specific scrolling actions. Scrolling byline or screen will not cause the windows to scroll together.

4.8.3.2 Auto Scrolling

The BibleReader allows you to auto scroll, at a customizable rate, through the text you are reading.

To enableauto scrolling, go to Tree > Options > Toggle Auto Scroll. The text willautomatically start scrolling.

To decrease/increase the scroll rate, push up/down on the center five-way hardwarenavigation button on your device.

To stopthe auto scrolling, tap anywhere on the screen.

You can also set up a shor tcu tto turn auto scrolling on, under Tree > Options > Preferences >Shortcuts - Alpha -or- Tree > Options > Preferences > Secondary Toolbar.

4.8.4 Shortcuts

The BibleReader has both alpha shortcuts and hardware shortcuts that can be customized to thebuttons or letters you would like to use.

Alpha Shortcuts - Silk Screen or KeyboardThe alpha shortcuts are shown next to the menu items that they relate to. To use them, just write the"/" character in the "ABC" section of the silk screen, then write the letter for the shortcut. If your devicehas a keyboard, you can just press the corresponding letter on the keyboard. These alpha shortcutscan be configured under Tree > Options > Preferences > Alpha Shortcuts. Here you can add moreletters that will shortcut to different features of the BibleReader and modify existing shortcuts.

Hardware ShortcutsThere are a number of shortcuts that can be assigned to the four hardware buttons on a Palm. To viewthe full list, and assign a particular shortcut to a hardware button, go to Tree > Options > Preferences> Shortcuts.

There are also a number of shortcuts that can be assigned to the "Select" and "Record" buttons onsome Palm devices. These buttons can be assigned under Tree > Options > Preferences > MoreShortcuts.

4.8.5 Table of Contents

Several of the resources available from Olive Tree use the Table of Contents Chooser - a quick andeasy way to navigate material that has an outline-type format. To navigate material using the table ofcontents, open the verse chooser. If the table of contents mode is available, there will be a checkboxat the bottom of the verse chooser screen that says "Verse Mode." Uncheck this box, and the versechooser will switch to the table of contents.

Once in the table of contents, use the [+]marks to drill down through the material and locate the

specific section you are looking for. Tapping on the book icon at the bottom of the screen will

jump you to the location in the table of contents that you were last browsing in the text for the book.

4.8.6 Verse Chooser

The Verse Chooser is the primary method for navigating through versified material in theBibleReader. You can access the Verse Chooser in two main ways.

1. Through the menu: Tree > Tools > Verse Chooser

2. On the toolbar:

There are three modes of Verse Chooser available to choose from. See the screen shots below for thedetails of each mode. The default Verse Chooser is set to "Three Tap." You can go to Tree > Tools >

Verse Chooser Options to change the Verse Chooser mode.

The Quick Tap Verse Choosergives a separate screen for the book, chapter and verse. You canalso select to color the book names by group. Tap on the book, and up comes the chapter screen (withthe number of chapters for that book), then select the chapter and up comes the verse screen (withthe number of verses for that chapter).

The toolbar referencehas also been worked into this verse chooser. Tap the current book to go to anew book, tap the current chapter to change the chapter/verse of the current book, or tap the currentverse to change the verse for the current book/chapter.

The Single Page Verse Chooser lets you select the book, chapter, and verse of the new reference allon the same screen.

The Toolbar Verse Chooserlets you use only the toolbar to select the new book/chapter/verse. Tapon the book, chapter, or verse to get a drop down list to select from.

4.8.7 Verse History

To quickly navigate to a reference you were recently at, the BibleReader has a Verse History featureavailable. With this feature, you can quickly access your last ten locations in the BibleReader. To seeand navigate through your current Verse History, tap the center "" button on the top toolbar:

BibleReader allows the user to create their own personal annotations for a particular verse ofscripture.With the verse displayed at the top of the screen just open the Note editing screen, andtype in your note (or Copy/Paste) using the onboard keyboard. When completed tap the OK button. Anote can be a maximum of 8,000 characters.

Note: Notes are saved with the following naming scheme: note_(name). (The name should be 10characters or less.) Every note will contain the prefix note_.

There are three ways to access the Notes screen:

1. Through the menu: Tree > Tools > Notes

2. By tapping on the Notes icon:

Note: If the asterisk does not appear in front of the verse after creating a Personal Note, go to Tree >Options > Preferences > Verse Displayand be sure that "Personal Notes Icon" is enabled.

Instructions below use the note icon as the access method, but the menu method or the Graffitishortcut will work as well.

To Create a note:1. Find a passage you wish to annotate.

2. Tap the Noteicon with your stylus.

3. Write the text of your note. You can copy and paste text with the buttons at the bottom of the

screen.

4. Tap OKwhen you are finished. Notes are archived according to the Bible passage where they were

entered.

5. You can also create separate folders for notes on particular subjects. Go to List > File Listto Add a

new folder to store notes in. Be aware that the new file becomes the Active file for notes until

you change it.

To Edit a particular note:


2. Tap List. BibleReader will display all the notes in its memory for the currently open file.

3. Select a Bible reference by tapping it. Tap Go To Note. BibleReader will jump to that note. And from

there you can edit the note.

To View a particular note:

1. Go to Tree > Options > Preferences > Verse Format and select "Personal Notes Icon."

2. Navigate to a passage that you have made a note on.

3. Tap the * icon on the verse.

4. The note will open in a second reference window.

2. Tap List. BibleReader will display all the notes in its memory.

3. Tap File List.

4. On the File List of Notesscreen, tap Save As. BibleReader will prompt you for a new name for your

note file.

5. HotSync your PalmOS device. The file you saved will appear on your PC.

4.9.1 Formatting

Some formatting can now be applied to your BibleReader personal notes. This can be done in eitherthe BibleReader itself or by using the Desktop Assistant to edit your personal notes on your PC.Please note that this has not been fully tested and a basic exposure to HTML may be helpful.

Verse Hyperlink

The text between these tags will become a hyperlink tothe specified verse reference. Replace b, cand vwith thenumbers that correspond to the book, chapter, and versereference that you want to link to. When you click on thelink, the verse will be displayed (if you have a Bible fileinstalled).

Please note that this reference requires booknumbers (1 thru 66), not book names. (1 = Genesis, 2

= Exodus, etc.)

Typed:This will link verse to Exodus 5:2.

Displayed:This will link verseto Exodus 5:2.

4.10 Preferences

To access the BibleReader Preferences, go to Tree > Options > Preferences. There is a drop down

list in the upper right corner that lets you select which preferences you would like to customize.

Default Files - Only if iLumina MOBILE is installed. Specify which file you want to open in the tabs. Ifyou want the application to always open the file you loaded last, then select "Use Last Opened" -- thisis the default.

Desktop - Select which desktop setup you would like to use. Choose from 6 different options, with topor bottom toolbars, different functions on the toolbar, full screen of text, etc.

Display - Set the color screen display options, also move the index in the Library to the top/bottom ofthe list.

Extended Memory - Specify the path to files saved on a memory card. If you have installed files tomemory card and they are not showing up under Tree > Tools > Library, try specifying a path to theextended memory here. The default path for most newer Palm devices is /Palm/Launcher.

Fonts & Colors - Specify the background and text colors for the three windows you can open inBibleReader. You can also select the font size and type, and specify a few options for the Toolbar.

Greek & Hebrew - Specify what size you would like the Greek, Hebrew, and Transliteration fonts tobe. You can also set extra spacing between the words, and turn syntax coloring on/off. If yourdictionary links are not working, also check to be sure that "UBS Dictionary" is selected.

Highlighting - Lets you select your highlighting color or feature, and turn the highlighting display

iLumina - Only if iLumina MOBILE is installed. Turn tabs and tap and hold on/off. Also set the Homescreen to always come up on startup, and the dictionary to use a second reference window.

Map Atlas - Specify options for the maps.

Secondary Toolbar- Set the icons you want to display on the second toolbar, arrange the order of theicons, and select the location for the second toolbar.

Scrolling - Customize your scrolling methods. Select which scrolling method you want to use, and setit to scroll by Line, Verse, Screen, History, Chapter, or Book. You can also customize the scroll barposition and size, and turn Tapping on, to scroll up/down by tapping on the top/bottom of the screen.

Shortcuts - Select from a number of shortcuts to assign them to the main hardware buttons on thedevice. Also enable "Numbers Navigate Verses" to navigate the text using the graffiti number area.

Shortcuts - Alpha - Assign shortcuts to letters that you enter into the graffiti area or type on thekeyboard.

Split Screen - Select how many windows you want to open, and specify a few related options.

Split Screen Advanced - Set the target window for hyperlinks. For example, setting Window 3 forWindow 1 means that when you tap on a hyperlink in Window 1, the related link will open in Window 3.

Verse Chooser - Select the type of verse chooser and the book color scheme.

Verse Chooser Advanced - Customize specific features of the verse chooser including number ofcolumns, borders, coloring.

Verse Format - Set how you would like verses to display - each verse on a new line (Verse), or versesjust flowing along (Paragraph). Also, select the color for the words of Jesus (only in specific supporteddatabases), and turn the publisher and personal notes icons on/off.

Verse Sync - Specify which windows you want to scroll together.

4.11 Searching/Concordance

The search command in the BibleReader acts like an exhaustive concordance.You can searchthe entire Bible, or a portion of the Bible, for a specific word, phrase, or partial word. To open the

search screen, go to Tree > Tools > Search or tap the Search iconon the toolbar: . Insert theword or phrase you want to search for, and tap Searchto begin the search.

Wild Card SearchTo use the wild card searching, enter the word suffix form you want to search for. Then, enter the "wildcharacter," a * (star) or a-(dash). Due to font issues, the * (star) does not appear with Greek andHebrewfonts, so a- (dash) is best to use at the end of the word(s).

Here are a few examples:

To specify the range of books that you want to search in, use the drop down list to select the desiredbook range or to create your own custom range. After setting the range, tap Searchto begin thesearch.

Search Method

There are four different Search Methods that you can use to help narrow down a search.

1. Exact: searches for the word/phrase exactly as you have entered it.

2. Ignore Case: When selected, searches will ignore the presence or absence of capital and

lower-case letters.

3. All Words - AND: When selected, searches will use the Boolean operator andwith the words listed

4. Any Word - OR: When selected, searches will use the Boolean operator orwith the words listed

4.12 Split Screen Mode

With Split Screens, you can display up to three windows at the same time.Each window can be

configured and moved independently. Or, you can link windows together to synchronize the scrolling.

For example,you could display two different translations of the Bible on the same screen forcomparison. Or have one window with the text and two windows of reference or commentary.

Note:If you are using a Bible with Notes or References (such as the New American Standard Versionwith Strong's Numbers, or the NIV with Publisher Notes), the default setting is that the screen belowthe Bible version will be used for references.

To activate Split Screen Mode:1. Install multiple translations of the Bible and study aids on your Palm device. For more information,

see our online store or installation instructions.

2. Go to Tree > Options > Preferences > Split Screenand set what you want your Max number ofwindows to be. Then install multiple translations of the Bible and study aids on your Palm device.

3. To open another window, or close existing windows, write /win the letter area with your stylus, ortap Options > Split Screen.

Note:every time you write wor tap the Split Screenmenu item, BibleReader will switch the numberof displayed windows. You can have up to three different translations on-screen at the same time.

To load texts into a window:

1. Write/win the letter area with your stylus, or tap Options > Split Screen.

2. Tap a window to make it the active window.

3. Tap the abbreviation for the open text in the toolbar and change to the Bible you now want to view inthat window.

To switch window modes:

1. Tap Tree > Options > Preferences.

2. Select Split Screenfrom the pull-down menu.

3. Choose either Classicor Multiplewindows.Classicmode displays two windows--ideally one is the text and another is reference.Multiplemode displays two or three windows, which can be Bible files, references, or eBooks.

4. Tap OKto return to the text.

5. To open additional windows, or to close existing windows, write /win the letter area with your stylus,or tap Options > Split Screen.

To specify which window a link will open in:

1. Go to Tree> Options > Preferences. Select Split Screen Advfrom the drop down list.

2. Specify which window you want links from Window 1, 2, 3 to open in.

For example,you may have three open windows. The top two have Bibles and you want the thirdwindow to display the reference for Window 1 and Window 2. On this Split Screen Adv screen, youwould set Window 1 to open in Window 3, and Window 2 to open in Window 3.

4.13 Toolbar

The bottom toolbar on the main screen is fully customizable.You can turn it on/off, change it'sposition on the screen, decide which icons you want on the toolbar, and arrange them in any order on

the toolbar. To configure the toolbar, go to Tree > Options > Preferences > Secondary Toolbar.

The toolbar settings you can change on this screen are as follows...

The list of itemsin the grey box are the icons that are enabled on the toolbar - in the order that theyare displayed.

To addnew icons to the toolbar, select the icon you want from the top drop-down box, then tap Add.

To removean icon from the toolbar, select the icon from the list and tap the Delete button.

To rearrangethe order of the icons on the toolbar, select from the list box the icon you want tomove, and then tap Up or Down to move it to your desired location.

Select the toolbar's positionin the bottom drop-down box. Choose from bottom, left, or right. This isalso where you can select to disable the toolbar so it will not display.

The collapse buttonis the small blue bar with the down arrow that sits above the toolbar, and letsyou minimize/maximize it. With the checkbox at the bottom of this screen you can choose to enableor disable this bar.
