Selamat Datang (Welcome) dear guest,

This year, together with Consulate General of Indonesia in Vancouver, we are hosting

the biggest ever Indonesian festival in British Columbia! Together we would love to

show you a little bit of our beautiful culture through trademark food, traditional dance,

musical instrument performance, and products.

Our Indonesian community today has gathered from all over the province with most

residing in Burnaby, Vancouver, and Surrey. Canada and Indonesia have a long history

of engaging in the promotion and protection of human rights, religious freedom,

democracy, multiculturalism and diversity. We hope through these events and

festivals, we can learn more about each other and strengthen our relationship.

The theme for the Indonesia Festival is “EXPERIENCE INDONESIA”. The moment

you step into the festival hall; we will welcome you with the warm and friendly culture

of Indonesia. Enjoy the delicious, vibrant, and amazingly-rich-in-flavour Indonesian

cuisine. Pop by the Trades Booths to see our beautiful and handcrafted products. Grab

a seat and witness our stunning dance and musical performances. Explore and

experience a miniature of Indonesia through our festival!

On behalf of our beloved Indonesian community, we thank you for coming and

spending your day with us.

Warm Regards,

Matthew A. Riyanto

CITY OF BURNABY OFFICE OF THE MAYOR

DEREK R. CORRIGAN MAYOR

GREETING On behalf of Burnaby City Council and the citizens of Burnaby, it is my pleasure to offer greetings and best wishes to everyone in attendance at Indonesia Fest 2018, presented by the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia along with Permai BC, on July 14, 2018 at the Nikkei National Museum and Cultural Centre. We are so pleased that Indonesia Fest 2018 is taking place here in Burnaby. This will provide a wonderful opportunity to showcase Indonesian culture and traditions, food and beverages, as well as some tremendous performing arts, handicrafts, and fashion to the wider community. The festival will also highlight the diversity of ethnicities and cultures that can be found across Indonesia’s many thousands of islands. Thank you to all the event organizers, especially the Consulate General of Indonesia, the volunteers and participants that make this a special day in our community. Best wishes again for a very successful and memorable festival! Sincerely,

Derek Corrigan MAYOR

Message from the Honourable Bruce Ralston Minister of Jobs, Trade and Technology

On behalf of Premier John Horgan and the Government of British Columbia, I am pleased to welcome everyone to Indonesia Fest 2018, presented by the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia in collaboration with PERMAI BC. Today’s  festivities will showcase performing artists from various regions of Indonesia, reflecting the  country’s  richness in diversity of ethnicities and cultures. This festival also presents British Columbians, who may not have an opportunity to visit Indonesia, with a chance to experience part of it right here in Burnaby. B.C. highly values its relationship with Indonesia, and nearly 7,000 people of

Indonesian origin call our province home. By nurturing this relationship, there is a tremendous potential for our regions to expand our cultural and economic ties. My ministry is eager to build new international relationships and expand our trade network into Indonesia and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, or ASEAN region. In 2016, British Columbia opened its second trade and investment office in Southeast Asia in the city of Jakarta, Indonesia, which is the headquarters of ASEAN. This office offers B.C. companies with opportunities to make meaningful connections with Indonesian companies. Our trade and investment offices, including the one in Jakarta, assist B.C. companies looking to export their products and services into Indonesia and support Indonesian companies looking to expand their presences in B.C. Beyond our trade relationship, community events like this bring people from various ethnic backgrounds together to share culture, and enjoy music and food - I hope everyone has a wonderful time celebrating and experiencing Indonesian culture this afternoon. Sincerely,

Bruce Ralston Minister Jobs, Trade and Technology
