BIG RIVER JOURNEY: FIELD TRIP PERMISSION FORM

Please read CAREFULLY! You live only a few miles from the Mississippi River, but how much do you really know about it? How was it formed? How has it changed? What types of creatures make their habitat here? How have humans used and modified the river? How can we protect this resource? Come and explore the science and heritage of the Mighty Mississippi! Big River Journey: Exploring the Mississippi is a STEAM integrated course that will meet Minnesota academic standards in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Mathematics. During this semester-long course, we have the opportunity to enjoy a number of unique field trips and guest speakers. For the 2016-2017 school year, the following field trips are planned for first semester students: Thursday, October 13, 2016 Start at Wilder Playground in St. Paul Storm Drain Stenciling led by Friends of the Mississippi River Leave Edgewood at 1:20 Return to Edgewood by 4:00—students may ride the activity bus home Wednesday, October 19, 2016 West Coon Rapids Dam Regional Park/Visitor Center Chemical, Physical, Biological River Studies led by naturalists from the Three Rivers Park District Leave Edgewood at 1:20 Return to Edgewood by 4:00—students may ride the activity bus home Thursday, November 3, 2016 Upper St. Anthony Falls Lock and Dam Photography Tour of St. Anthony Falls and Mill Ruins Park Leave Edgewood at 1:20 Return to Edgewood by 4:00—students may ride the activity bus home Friday, December 16, 2016 Fridley Water Treatment Plant 4300 Marshall Avenue NE, Fridley, MN 55421 Leave Edgewood at 1:20 Return to Edgewood by 4:00—students may ride the activity bus home Come and experience the Mississippi River with us—we would love to have parent/guardian chaperones join us too! If you can come with us, please indicate that in the appropriate section.
