The Bioform® Mould Classifi cation System
Steps to identify and select Bioform anterior moulds
Letter | Step 3:
Using the Dentsply Sirona MM Ruler (#3496), measure the width of the upper six anterior teeth on the curve, from distal to distal. The measurement will fall into one of the ranges identifi ed with the letters B through J.
The letter selected is the third character of the mould identifi cation number.
Width of Upper Six Anterior Teeth on Curve
B. less than 44.00 mmC. 44.00 to 45.50 mmD. 45.50 to 48.00 mmE. 48.00 to 49.00 mmF/X. 49.00 to 51.50 mmG. 51.50 to 54.00 mmH. 54.00 to 56.00 mmJ. 56.00 mm or greater
Some moulds may vary from this standard. Please consult mould chart dimensions.
7 Basic Facial Forms:
First Number | Step 1:
Using the classifi cation form listed above, select the number from 1 to 7 that best represents the patient’s facial form. The number selected is the fi rst character of the mould identifi cation number, located in the upper left corner of the tooth card. In the ovoid and ovoid combination forms, the mesio-distal aspect of the labial surface of the maxillary centrals is more or less round. In the square, square tapering and tapering forms, it is more or less fl at.

The following table provides a simple reference between several brands of anterior teeth and VITA® shades. Shade matching is best done with a color corrected fluorescent light having a Color Rendering Index above 90 or in natural daylight. This type of light source was used in our develop-mental research. For a variety of technical reasons, such as viewing and illuminating conditions, the perception of the shade match may vary. Due to distinctive blend and shade characteristics of each brand of teeth, exact comparisons are not possible.
