    BIOENGINEERINGCOMPUTER ENGINEERING

    ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING

    The undergraduate Bioengineering (BIOE), Computer Engineering (CpE) and ElectricalEngineering (EE) programs offered by the Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE)Department are designed to prepare the student for either graduate study or direct entry into acareer in engineering.

    The general university, collegiate, and BioE, CpE and EE course requirements are outlined onthe sample schedules given in the appropriate degree program sections.

    Advising

    All BioE, CpE and EE students are required to see their advisor prior to course registration eachsemester. Students interested in computer or electrical engineering who have not declared amajor are also strongly urged to obtain advising at the ECE Department office.

    Graduate Degree Programs

    The ECE Department also offers Master of Science degrees in Computer Engineering, ElectricalEngineering, Telecommunications, Computer Forensics and a PhD in Electrical and ComputerEngineering. A PhD in Information Technology with a specialization in EE or CpE is offeredthrough The Volgenau School of Information Technology and Engineering. Separate brochuresdescribing these degree programs are available upon request.

    Objectives of the Electrical Engineering and Computer Engineering Programs

    ! Technical KnowledgeGraduates will be able to apply the fundamentals in the appropriate engineering disciplineas demonstrated by success as productive engineers in industry or government or ingraduate school.

    ! Preparation for Further StudyGraduates will have the knowledge and skills to engage in lifelong learning.

    ! ProfessionalismGraduates will have the skills and understanding needed to fulfill their professionalresponsibilities as engineers, including written and oral communication, ethics, societalconsiderations and teamwork.
