The PhD Program in Biomedical Informatics at the University of Cincinnati (UC) leverages partnerships between three leading institutions: Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, the UC College of Medicine, and the UC College of Engineering and Applied Sciences. Students have an exciting opportunity to engage in transformative research while being embedded in one of the premier healthcare centers in the nation.

A B O U T T H E P R O G R A M• Trains students in theory and

applications of informatics andbiomedical data science.

• Topics range from the study ofmolecules to individuals andto populations.

• Embeds students in an excitingenvironment where basic and appliedscientific principles are used within ateam science framework.

• Students and faculty work torespond to data-driven challenges ofbiomedical research and healthcare.

A D M I S S I O N R E Q U I R E M E N T S• Official college transcript(s)• GPA minimum 3.5 or equivalent• Official GRE score• International students:

TOEFL test score (minimum 100)or IELTS (minimum 7)

• Statement of purpose• Three letters of recommendation

C U R R I C U L U M• Spans a number of domains,

including clinical informatics,bioinformatics, genomics, systemsbiology, biostatistics, big data andhealthcare analytics.

• Reflects the interdisciplinary natureof data-driven biomedical sciences.

• Core course requirements areminimal, so students can chooseelectives and start their researchcareer as early as possible.
