CAREER HIGHLIGHTSBiren has bravely ventured abroad to the United States in Florida where he broke into the Mega-Yachting Industry of privately owned multi-million dollar Yachts. He worked as a deckhand at first on various deck projects including a $ 100000 varnishing job of the cap-rails. He then worked his way into the engineering sector where his major passion arose, building a solid base of engineering knowledge as a Junior Engineer. During his time onboard he was involved in the replacement of 2 Deutz main engines and generators and the installation of new CAT 3408 engines and generators. The extensive revamp involved removing all pipework, re-design engine beds, removal of transformer and various motors and re-power of Yacht encapsulating PLC technology. He had to assimilate himself quickly to all tasks such as air-conditioning fittings and light electrical systems. Biren also assisted the I.T technician with rewiring of navigation and Crestron systems.

Moodly also temporarily worked on the Caribbean Island of St. Maarten as an assistant to an electrical technician dealing mainly with sanitation technology to purify waste into 80% water and transfer into the ocean. These electrically controlled systems were installed at various hotels around the island and major shopping facilities.

Upon his return to SA, Biren took on an Internship as a Technical Operations Manager at JHI Properties, where after 2 weeks into the role Biren was entrusted with 10 buildings to manage, namely Office Parks, Parkades, Shopping Centre’s and Industrial sites. He provided technical advice to Landlords and handled all Occupational

Health and Safety compliance for all these buildings. He designed evacuation plans for two buildings, ontrolled the management of service and maintenance contractors, managed and controlled tenant installations and executed building related activities as predetermined by the Property Manager. Biren also visited these sites on a regular basis for inspections and various on-site projects where he took on the role of project manager for revamps and major roofing structural plans. As a Junior Project Manager, he also prepared tenders for submission to government projects in the renewable energy sector,assisted the Project Manager with off-grid rural development project administration and researchfor generating new business in renewable energy MCEP and DTI. Moodly has also worked in Motor-spares and Hardware where he assisted customers with DYI and consulting on various systems from electrical and plumbing goods to hardware and general tools. He has vast tool knowledge. Over the years he has grown substantially towards management while completing his Diploma in Electrical Engineering.
