Pick which book you want by shape and size as you can’t un-wrap it until you have it scanned through! Friday 12th & Saturday 12th. Opening times: 10am – 1pm & 2pm – 5pm The Stolen Child & Other Magical Tales with Simone Schuemmelfeder By combining poems by W.B. Yeats with storytelling, Simone explores the stories that inspired the poet and takes her young audience on a journey through different countries with similar stories. On The Other Side Of The Rainbow with Simone Schuemmelfeder

Simone will help you create your own myths in this story-creating workshop. School children are invited to come and create new stories with old heroes from their imaginations.

Story Board with Gerry BolandWant to create a story! Then come along to a storytelling workshop like no other as our very own writer in residence and children’s author Gerry Boland guides children through an exciting literary adventure.

Paper Tales with Danielle AllisonCome along and enjoy some of Danielle’s far flung tales and make and do activities inspired by her stories. Cutting-out, gluing-on and colouring-in may be involved!

The Book Clinic with Children’s Books Ireland CBI’s Book Doctor will once again be on site to give out prescriptions for new reads to all young bookworms. Capacity is limited, so come along, bring a book to read and settle down in the Dr’s waiting room until you’re called.

Yeats Day Monster Draw with Anna Spearman

Join in the worldwide Yeats Day celebrations. We've selected the Yeats poem "The Stolen Child" as the theme for our monster draw, so join artist Anna Spearman to create your own mystical woodland creature.

Judge A Book By Its Cover with Naomi Draper Give others a glimpse into your story as you create your own book through paper folding, collage and mixed media techniques. Starting at the very beginning, the focus of Naomi’s workshop will be to explore methods and techniques for great book cover designs.

Stop Motion Workshop with Naomi DraperTell your tale, and delve into a world of colour, shape and characters,as you bring your story to life with artist Naomi Draper. Using simple technology, you will explore the basic techniques needed to develop and create your own animation together from storyboard to moving images.

Short Tales, Big Imaginations for rural schools with Gerry Boland

Gerry Boland is a well known writer of stories and poems for young people. During the festival, Gerry will once again visit schools, introducing children to both his own work and sharing the work of other authors. Children will have the opportunity to get involved,writing their very own poems and stories.

Please note: sessions are designed for rural schools within a circa 5 mile radius of Roscommon town centre

The Way Back Home by Oliver Jeffers

Branar in association with Baboró International Arts Festival

When a boy discovers a single-propeller airplane in his closet, he flies into outer space! But he is not alone up there. Based on Oliver Jeffers book, this show, without words, combines puppetry and music to realise a beautiful and imaginative story.

The Magic Bookshop Monkeyshine Theatre Companyin association Roscommon Arts CentreStep inside and meet some of the inhabitants of this little shop, hear their stories and maybe even take a little of their magic home with you. An interactive theatre experience where audiences are invited to bring gently used books to swap. Capacity 10 per show.
